Love using mine for Pico 8, 3DS, Ps2, and Gamecube! I usually play a Wii game here and there too just because as well! It's my end-game handheld and I couldn't be happier to have it! :D
Hi. I am wanting to play all the PS1 need for speed games and PS2 need for speed games up to most wanted. Also looking to try legend of zelda twilight princess for gamecube/Wii. Do you think it could handle these?
@@Avrenac Hello! I’m actually running Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Gamecube on my RG Cube right now! I’ve only ran around a little bit at the start of the game, but from what I’ve tested, it’s running as smooth as butter!
@@Avrenac And as for Need for Speed, I haven’t tested it yet for the PS2. However, Burnout: Takedown (a bit of slowdown though, nothing too bothersome), along with PS1 games such as Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot, run flawlessly!
Aye weird that, seeing as it's been out ages, costs a fraction of the price and plays all the main systems you'd be playing on a 1:1 screen. It's a great device
Honestly I'm obsessed with mine, it reminds me of when the RP2+ came out in terms of being a game-changer for me now the cube is close in size but better hand feel and way more consistent at the harder systems and android games
I def agree with this review. It's def a bit overpriced for what it does. I had an issue with my touchscreen being unresponsive but they actually wound up sending a new one to me which really surprised me. I hope they keep up that trend as their customer service has been pretty sh1t in the past whenever anything happened to one of my older units. Great review!
Gamecube ia the only emulation you have to choose 4:3 or full stretch. For the others you can stretxh to something like 8:7, and crop overscan left and right a smidge to get amazing results with good aspect at about 3.7inches. Then of course for 3ds and ds stacked, you would need an equivalent 5.8inch 16:9 with all that wasted space. A jack of all trades (exactly what these things are designes to be!)
The same insides as the RG556 so more than capable for 3DS as well as DS, and with the right tweaking a LOT of GameCube and PS2 will work if you spend time altering settings accordingly. But I'd still say get the 556 over the Cube personally.
To be fair 16:9 content does not look terrible on this screen. It actually looks pretty nice. It’s just way too small. It’s not really fair to say it looks bad.
@@eddiedevereoxford4995 hey that’s the truth. The quality of the screen and things put on it look nice but as a result of the aspect ratio, some of it is going to be too small. Looking small and looking terrible are two different things
I really like mine. But I don't know how to use all of the apps yet. In addition to playing games on it, I can take a movie to somebody else's house and cast it to a television. I'm a fan of the d-pad.
like you said it comes with a bunch of emulators does that include paid apps or just the free versions (like he regular ppsspp)? and what about ones like aether/nethersx2?
I was not sure about 1x1, but when I got the RG Cube, I really enjoy it,dare I say android gaming was fun for me too. Awesome video brother. Oh ,Have you played Zenless Zone Zero on this yet?
Love your videos retro Dodo. Great stuff. I was looking to buy a handheld for my nephew for around £40-£50, which one would you recommend? I am looking for the best CPU in that range with two thumbsticksticks, Thanks.
The problem I have with this device is that the screen size is not very good for 4.3 and 16.9 games. You missed some screen real estate from the sides. Also, as i tested this device myself, i nothes the screen black lvl is bad spechiyally in dark places even compared to cheaper devices like anbernic rg40xxh.
would've liked this if the dpad was up top. Also sick of this RGB stick trend, why do they need to be there? they decrease battery life and slightly inflate the price of the device. All for some tacky look. Would've looked super clean without them
Weird question, which is better modded switch lite, rp4 pro or odin pro mini ? Maybe Linux handhelds more better, I want bit of everything like old school low end PC games. I'm more of a tinker So kinda confused, need help there are so many options.
Yup, the perfect device would have been this design for ~129$. Less beefy specs and Dreamcast emulation being the upper target. (and no light bleed of course.... preferably the d-pad at top as well)
It's not the price tag that's hindering me to get this, it's the analog sticks. It's no use if it can emulate ps2 games when I can't move precisely the way I want
I'd love if they released this handheld with a 3:2 screen, it would sell like hotcakes. Great review, but not for me, unsure if I'll get a light bleed version, so far Anbernic hasn't really addressed it after they said they did and still shipped them with light bleed.
@@KyleRuggles My unit came with no light bleed whatsoever, however I agree that it's really based on luck when it comes to buying from companies like Anbernic.
@@aestheticpetal Yeah this is one product I don't wish to gamble my money on. I hear that if you buy from a reseller like LintNXT, we'd get better results, I think they test the products before selling, unlike Anbernic lol.
1:1 screen is great for GB, Neogeo pocket, pico8… etc system but for modern system even Dreamcast and PS2 I still prefer wider and bigger screen for better reading especially emulator setting menu. Not keen on playing Nintendo DS and 3DS game on that kind of screen because the screen is too small to me….. To be fair the RG Cube is really great if I only can have one pockable handheld otherwise RGB 30 or 20 SX are better choices because it’s relatively cheaper and easy to use for retro gaming due to using ArkOS.
Exactly. The screen determines what systems suit the handheld. There's no point paying a lot for something that has the power to play PSP, say, when the 16:9 looks shit bc of the screen ratio.
Hes just wrong. We have SO MANY systems that look like this minus the unique aspect ratio that can only play up to dreamcast. Stretch the image. Who cares? You get 4 inches of a good looking image because its a high quality screen. Ps2 and GameCube scale well to it. So nice when i dont want to use a bigger, high end handheld that doesnt have the right feel and vibe for these consoles. If anything, i wish it had a MORE powerful chip and I'd pay another $30-40 or so
The screen becomes 3,5 inches with GBA. It's like watching a movie with black borders, which is still good. Note that GBA is pixel perfect on this handheld with a 3X resolution, so it's actually great for that.
@@thiagoaraujos it’s more like watching a modern movie on a 4:3 tv, but I see your point. I know I may be picky, but I just prefer to have smaller borders and a bigger screen.

Cuz it's unique! Apparently. I'd like to see 3:2 on this, a good middle point between 4:3 and 16x9. I would not dare to stream a game on this device. It's more powerful than the original Odin and older handhelds but the modern games it can play, looks like crap cuz most of them are 16x9 now.

@@gregmasciola3332 i think they could pull that off for sure
