I think this is easily the greatest series in cinema history. This one of those shows yall have to pay attention to EVERYTHING. No scene is by mistake.

This show rules. Takes a few episodes to get into, there’s very little exposition, but it’s worth it. Incredible series.

The way Lester smooth pulls old girl was something else. Lester is easily the best cop in this show!

I'm happy we finally got this this is one of my favorite shows and the most realistic show.
The Wire is one the best drama series of all time. R.I.P. to Michael K. Williams who played Omar & Lance Reddick who played Lieutenant Daniels.

One of the best shows of All Time 🔥🔥
The Wire is an amazing show. The creative team was lead by an ex-journalist who had spent a lot of time with detectives, and an ex-detective who became a high school teacher, and it comes across as written by people who are angered by bad systems and set out to expose them. As a Brit, I feel like this show (and things like the way the cops closed ranks to protect someone who blinded a child) has done a lot to help me understand where the anger of the BLM movement came from, but also in how systems can encourage people to play number games instead of doing the real job that is needed. I wonder how some US folks don't become furious watching this as it feels like it's comprised of real anecdotes as much as telling it's own story.
I hope you push through all five seasons, then you get to have fun conversations like who is the most evil person on the show. Levy, the lawyer for Barksdale etc to me feels worse than even Avon or Stringer - those guys feel institutionalised in finding their way in the lifestyle, they never had much hope of being anything else, but Levy is a parasite who enables them. There are other contenders who you'll meet later, I'm just putting the question in your mind!
Season 1 3 and 4 are perfect 2 is almost perfect

The higher ups in the police aren't necessarily dirty as such. They are lazy and incompetent and only focussed on their own careers. Always at the expense of others. They care about how things look and to who and how someone exposing their incompetence, like Jimmy is doing here, will hinder their career progression.
