Bill is a former student of Hattori Hanzo... In the Asian culture, the teacher - student relationship is a lot more serious, especially in martial arts, or special skills... The fact that one of your own student is using the skills you taught him, to do evil in this world, is directly tied to the teachers failure to raise a good student. In the Asian culture, this is the failure of the teacher and it will be his great shame to have raised a bad person. That is why Hattori Hanzo looks down in shame as he writes Bill's name... Exactly 😭 I think they are just not used to watch these types of movies Tarantino is very particular with his movies style 😅 that’s what makes him unique and great
24:18, the actor playing Hattori Hanzo is the late great Sonny Chiba. He was a big martial arts star in the 1970s/1980s. Quentin Tarantino grew up watching this movies in grind house theaters. Tarantino is such a Chiba fan that he made one of his characters in the movie True Romance a fan as well. In the third John Wick movie one of the characters is as an homage to Hattori Hanzo. He is a sushi chef by day and an assassin by night.
She killed her right then because she was trying to shoot her through the cereal box. The code names are all venomous snakes. Black mamba is a highly venomous snake.
Not all. The irony is that Elle's codename (California Mountain Snake) isn't a venomous one, but she was the only one in the squad whose specialty was poison.
That nice yellow black outfit she wore in this was a tribute to Bruce Lee's famous yellow and black outfit back in the days he wore in Game of death. Pretty cool!!
Side note, the music being played when introducing the yellow suit was "flight of the bumble bee" for a second I thought our young lady noted it, I was wrong, just dumb luck on her part.
She killed O-Ren first because she would be the hardest / toughest to kill. She had immense respect for O-Ren as a warrior. She was the only one aside from Bill to face The Bride / Beatrix honorably.
It's worth noting that historically Japanese steel was of low quality. The low quality of the Japanese metal is why their smiths had to develop such a high degree of expertise.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol.2 are not separate movies. They are the same movie. Tarantino wanted to release it all in one movie but the studio forced him into splitting it in half because it would’ve been too long.

Great reaction. O-Ren’s story was shown more in depth and second due to the two having a personal connection. It’s not stated in the movie but you can tell from the trix line and their fight as well. Also the fact that the bride knows so much of her history.
The blood spray thing comes from old Samurai movies, these movies kill Bill 1 and 2 was Quentin Tarantino's love letter to the Samurai movies the Kung Fu movies and the spaghetti Westerns from his childhood. You need to watch part 2 as soon as possible
3:07 its funny how you mention the song in the beginning because Quentin Tarantino uses music very well throughout his movies not just to set the mood of the movie as you watch but as he writes them too. He listens to different types of music as he writes for inspiration and so maybe that Nancy Sinatra song just so happened to help as he wrote this movie. Great reactions. Love your channel!
Yeah, I've heard a lot of screenwriters do this and it helps to put them in an artificial emotional space. Sometimes, they even feel if the song they played while creating certain scenes isn't placed in the film it will suffer because of it.
Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) was written by Sonny Bono for his wife - the legendary diva, and goddess of pop - Cher, which went to #2 in 1966 and with a more upbeat, gypsy/carnival/circus sound. It was covered shortly after by Nancy Sinatra, daughter of Frank Sinatra - the version in this movie. But in 1987, Cher rerecorded an updated version for a rock album, which is by far the best version.
That opening song, ", bang bang, My Baby Shot Me Down," came out in 1966 and it was sang by Nancy Sinatra who is Frank Sinatra's daughter. Frank Sinatra is a very famous singer from way back in the early 1930s through the 60s and early 70s. That's even before my time and I'm y'all's parents age probably, so yeah that song is definitely old. Iol
FUN FACT: The man who played as Hattori Hanzo in this movie is Sonny Chiba. He is known for playing as the same character in a 70's show titled SHADOW WARRIORS.
Having been to Japan. I can say that swords are not allowed in piblic and most certainly not on planes. Tarantino likes to create his own realities. In his perfect world swords could be carried around like cell phones.
This movie pays homage to western and Japanese exploration films from the 60s and 70s ,that is why it's so stylistic. The music, sound effects, and exaggerated blood and fighting is a style choice so it's all intentional.
This movie came from Quentin Tarantino having a major crush on Uma. He had to have lunch with her every day while filming Pulp Fiction. From that they had conversations like he'd say, 'There's this bride...' she'd say, 'she's a killer.' Sort of like that...he sat down and wrote the movie for her...called her and said she had to go to Japan, learn Japanese and see a Samurai Master...that's why it says 'Written by Q & U' in the credits.
Unfortunately Tarantino screwed up his relationship (friendship) he had with Uma, due to the fact that Quentin insisted that she do the actual driving in the scene where you see her going to see Esteban Vehaio, in Kill Bill 2. It's that over the shoulder shot that you see in the movie. Uma doesn't actually know how to drive, or at least she's not a very good driver. And was uncomfortable going the speed that Quentin wanted her to go down a dirt road. Quentin insisted though, and she ended up wrecking the vehicle and injuring herself. This caused a bit of a rift between Thurman and Quentin that lasted several years. However they did eventually reconcile and they're back on good terms.

6:40, everyone that the Bride goes after in this film are her former coworkers. They knew her and she knew them especially O-Ren. She did in O-Ren first because O-Ren wasn't hiding. Notice she asked Sophie a bunch of questions so she could find everyone else on the list.
She only got shot in her head. She didn’t get shot in her stomach and the reason she can’t walk is because you haven’t used her legs in four years so all of her muscles have at her feet. It would take months to learn how to walk again in real life
exactly, ENTROPY - just like the character said out of her own mouth in the film - definitions: *Muscle entropy refers to a state of increased disorder and reduced function within muscle tissue. It is a concept used in the field of muscle physiology to describe the decline in muscle performance and efficiency over time. When "The Bride" is in the back of Buck's Pussy Wagon, she says, "As I lay in the back of Buck's truck, trying to will my limbs out of entropy... ." The correct term that should have been used is ATROPHY, not entropy. atrophy: Muscular atrophy is the loss of muscle mass and strength, and can be caused by a number of factors, Including inactivity, not using muscles enough, such as through bed rest or prolonged immobility (such as in a coma).
The man she went to Okinawa to get the sword from was the late great actor Sonny Chiba who kinda inspired the old school action of this movie. He made some good martial arts films in the 70s
The blood, the chapter sequences (out of order), the animation, the story: these are all hallmarks of Quentin Tarantino films. He combined spaghetti westerns (a style of filmmaking from the 70s), Japanese lore, 70 style music, Japanese Manga, animation, and even blaxploitation (another style of filmmaking from the 70s that was mostly around Black centered storylines). The soundtrack itself was by The RZA of Wutang Clan (Killer Bs), which has its connections with this type of methodology.
The huge blood spray is from a scene from a Japanese film from 1962 called Sanjuro. A blood pack malfunctioned, but it looked so awesome they left it in, and it's been a massive meme in anime etc ever since. It's worth looking it up, simply because it's so iconic and it was the beginning of a huuuge, long running meme, and that's something everyone should know.
Pausin and guessing is what make you guys confused and missing things. Just keep watching they will tell you what happen. It's a movie u know. Ps. This supposed to be one movie but it would been taking too long to make it and the movie would been too long so Tarantino decided two cut it on two parts.
The Kill Bill ost is a vibe within itself, so of course the style of film Kill Bill is and the vibes Tarantino was going for made it one of Quentin's most goated releases
Thank you for saying this so I wouldn't have to. I just don't understand how people don't get that and keep talking about the "unrealistic" elements with the fight scenes in particular. The man even put an entire sequence in the movie that was anime to signal to viewers what this was. I mean right at the beginning, Vivica's house in Pasadena was shown in virtually over exaggerated animated colors.
@alexanderson6371 ACTUALLY , you are INCORRECT. Nancy Sinatra did the first COVER of the song, Cher did the original version of the song which was written by her husband Sonny Bono. Please do research before assuming. Have a great day. 😊
@alexanderson6371 Now you are REACHING, I brought up Cher because YOU said Nancy did the ORIGINAL version. Have you forgotten so quickly. You should concede to losing the debate at this point. 😂
The bald guy in the suit name is Gordon Liu aka Master Killter. He's the star in Enter the 36 Chambers of Shaolin. Huge Kung Fu star in the 70's. Most of his top movies, he played a Shaolin monk. Legendary 🔥🔥🔥
I love your guys reaction when you found out her daughter was still alive.😂 That was everyones reaction too. I seen this in theatres when it came out and let me tell you EVERYONE was impatient af waiting for part 2 to come out. Tarantino likes to play and have fun so a lot of his movies flip flop in between past/present. I personally love that. Its confusing but then you get it. The over the top blood squirting and crazy unbelievable fight scenes are an omage to old school Samurai/Martial arts movies that Tarantino grew up watching, he was a big fan so he pays tribute to them by putting it in some of his works. Part 2 explains EVERYTHING. This one leaves you with so many questions until you see part 2 then it all comes together. The guy who plays Bill is in real life a Martial Arts expert and has studied his whole life so Tarantino chosing him to play the role was perfect. Us not know Beatrix Kiddos name until part two was awesome!!! I loved that Tarantino chose to do that too. This movie came out after Pulp Fiction which is MY personal fav movie of all time.
Pure speculation on my part, but my guess is that the fight with Vivica Fox was so short, it would be anti-climactic to show it after the epic fight in House of Blue Leaves with Lucy Liu. Besides, Tarantino likes to tell some stories in an out-of-order fashion . . .
The original movie was both movies together, but it was waaaay too long that they had to split it into two. That's why there's a vol 1 and vol 2. Can't wait for your part 2 reaction!

De∆th Proof and Planet Terror are good too. They were a Grindhouse double feature. Directed by Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.🔥
Please explain Grindhouse. You know they're going to ask! 😆
I loved 'Planet Terror'. It's on my all time list of greatest zombie films.
@@dawb86 Facts, I like how there's Easter eggs from De∆th Proof in it as well. Also, love how he uses recurring characters and products in his movies. Like Sheriff McGraw, The gross dude that got his lip bit. Red Apple cigs and Big Kahuna Burger.
Don't watch Deathproof in double feature tho, they cut the best scene! The sexy chair dance- to Once upon a time in Mexico!! Only in standalone version.
Absolutely insane not in that version lol.
@@justmegirl23 Oh wow, that's nuts lol
Vivica A.Fox was also in Booty Call, Soul Food, Two Can Play That Game, Don’t Be A Menace, Kingdom Come & a ton of other movies. I love for you guys to react to the rest of this franchise.
This came before the Kobe Black Mamba stuff. He got it from this.
The masks are an homage to Bruce Lee's character "Kato" from the green hornet series
Other chick was the nurse. The guy is Budd not Bill
@@djaynorequest 🙄
Breakdancing with knives is wild 🤣🤣🤣 Beatrixx/Black Mamba played absolutely no games
Also, she apologized to her because when she sliced her in the back, she insulted her by saying silly white girl likes to play with Asian swords, basically disrespecting her as a warrior, and when the black mama cut her leg and brought her back to say hey, I shouldn’t of disrespected you like that, but it doesn’t change that we’re gonna fight to death
Even enemies can show respect - King Priam of Troy
Non-linear story telling is a common theme in Tarintino movies.
You guys theories are all over the place 😂😂. She was only shot in the head
It would take months to learn how to walk again in real life
exactly, ENTROPY - just like the character said out of her own mouth in the film -
definitions:
*Muscle entropy refers to a state of increased disorder and reduced function within muscle tissue. It is a concept used in the field of muscle physiology to describe the decline in muscle performance and efficiency over time.
When "The Bride" is in the back of Buck's Pussy Wagon, she says, "As I lay in the back of Buck's truck, trying to will my limbs out of entropy... ." The correct term that should have been used is ATROPHY, not entropy.
atrophy:
Muscular atrophy is the loss of muscle mass and strength, and can be caused by a number of factors, Including inactivity, not using muscles enough, such as through bed rest or prolonged immobility (such as in a coma).
The man she went to Okinawa to get the sword from was the late great actor Sonny Chiba who kinda inspired the old school action of this movie. He made some good martial arts films in the 70s
Fun fact the last fight between Orien and the bride took exactly 4 minutes and 59 seconds... exactly how long did they expect her to live
Kobe got the name from this movie...
I was about to say the same thing
And his Nike logo, look at the base of the hattori hanzo swords
5:17 why yes … they will killer her at the beginning of the movie 😂😂😂
Gogo's weapon choice was pretty much designed to fuck up a sword user. All attack, practically unblockable, and it has the range on you.
Part 2 immediately!!
Kobe Bryant adopted the nickname "Black Mamba" from this movie. Apparently, he admired Uma Thurman's character . . .
The huge blood spray is from a scene from a Japanese film from 1962 called Sanjuro. A blood pack malfunctioned, but it looked so awesome they left it in, and it's been a massive meme in anime etc ever since. It's worth looking it up, simply because it's so iconic and it was the beginning of a huuuge, long running meme, and that's something everyone should know.
y'all ask too many questions throughout the movie but I love it 😂
😂 our bad
@ lmaoo, love your content though !! 🔥🔥🔥
@ definitely do volume 2 it's even better ! and white men can't jump should be added to your list
56:55 Binge Ties that sound is from "Ironside" by Quincy Jones, it was the theme song of a cop drama series in the 60's - Ironside.
Pausin and guessing is what make you guys confused and missing things. Just keep watching they will tell you what happen. It's a movie u know. Ps. This supposed to be one movie but it would been taking too long to make it and the movie would been too long so Tarantino decided two cut it on two parts.
Understood we just be having fun guessing but that does name shoot off sense
Been watching yall for months!, and this whole time I thought I was subscribed and I wasn’t smh but im locked in now, youtube be trippin
The Kill Bill ost is a vibe within itself, so of course the style of film Kill Bill is and the vibes Tarantino was going for made it one of Quentin's most goated releases
Both father and son cops at the chapel massacre cameo on Death Proof so check it out, it's a wild ride
Kill Bill is a live action anime lol 😭 based off of the book the bride 😂
Thank you for saying this so I wouldn't have to. I just don't understand how people don't get that and keep talking about the "unrealistic" elements with the fight scenes in particular. The man even put an entire sequence in the movie that was anime to signal to viewers what this was. I mean right at the beginning, Vivica's house in Pasadena was shown in virtually over exaggerated animated colors.
Should check out from dusk till dawn and pulp fiction same director to as this one quentin tarantino
The song " Bang, Bang" ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) was originally recorded by Cher in 1966.
No, it's originally done by Nancy Sinatra.
@alexanderson6371 ACTUALLY , you are INCORRECT. Nancy Sinatra did the first COVER of the song, Cher did the original version of the song which was written by her husband Sonny Bono. Please do research before assuming. Have a great day. 😊
@ Okay, but the version in the movie is the Nancy Sinatra version which is more famous, so why bring up Cher's version?
@alexanderson6371 Now you are REACHING, I brought up Cher because YOU said Nancy did the ORIGINAL version. Have you forgotten so quickly. You should concede to losing the debate at this point. 😂
Tarantino has a style: he sometimes does not tell his movies in chronological order...or some of them at least.
The bald guy in the suit name is Gordon Liu aka Master Killter. He's the star in Enter the 36 Chambers of Shaolin. Huge Kung Fu star in the 70's. Most of his top movies, he played a Shaolin monk. Legendary 🔥🔥🔥
Everything is over the top and blood spray happening and stuff because it’s meant to be like an anime/samurai films from the 70’s and 80’s.
This dude has a LOOOOOT of speculations and questions it's just so funny.
Besides, Tarantino likes to tell some stories in an out-of-order fashion . . .
You gotta watch Once Were Warriors
"I need her to kill bill" is so hilarious 😂
Gogo is a badass, dangerous as hell. There wasn't any going easy
Why did you think that the woman was dead when she was clearly standing up with a worried face?? REALLY?!?!
42:38. They should put her in Mortal Kombat if they put ghostface, ommiman, spawn, Terminator, Rambo and Krato in.
They’re are Kill Bill Action Figures that exist. It was on the dvd pamphlet. But they probably cost a lot of bread now.
This movie is basically the only successful live action anime.😂 The storyline, all the 🩸 and etcetera is all very anime-esque.
The original movie was both movies together, but it was waaaay too long that they had to split it into two. That's why there's a vol 1 and vol 2. Can't wait for your part 2 reaction!
