The smartest thing to do right now is pretend like 151 and Prismatic don’t exist, and start buying the less popular sets. I don’t know how much longer that will last though, because even Shrouded Fable is starting to pop off now. I guess the best thing to do now is order Paradox Rift and S&V Base online, but those will probably start climbing soon too…

At these prices people might as well go back and buy something older. Most of the Sword and Shield speciality sets are still fairly cheap.

I'm glad you've had no trouble with 151 products, here in Australia it was next to impossible to get products as many stores sold out and we never saw restocks until well after the market price rose so resellers grabbed those again. even LGS chains here decided to sell their restock 151 products for market price rather then msrp which made it even more inaccessible to most.
as for prismatic i've seen seen 0 stock at any store (yes some are selling for market price but i refuse to buy items for 2-3x the msrp) one of our local stores decided they wouldn't sell the original allocation and would wait until the restock comes so they have enough stock to sell to their player base but thats not going to be until around may.
I think Pokemon should overprint at least the booster bundles for these special sets so stores are never out of stock, i can make do without all the special boxes but at least make getting booster packs easier. or at least advise stores to put limits on sales to combat resellers coming and grabbing all 20 etbs on day 1...
I actually saw a vlog from a Pokemon fan in the PH and flew to Singapore to get Prismatic Evolutions on release day. Still, the line was so concerning that they made a similar line for the newly released iPhone model in stores. The line was so huge, that the stores themselves canceled selling PRE.
There were 600+ people queuing for prismatic evolutions on release day in Singapore. Some even queued overnight even though Pokemon Center warned them that overnight queuing was not allowed. As for Shopee, the stock for the ETB disappeared after 1min, about 200 to 300 were sold, limit of 2.
Ye. Scalpers with bots scalped majority of them and selling 400sgd and up.
As a singaporean ptcg collector/player, im glad pokemon center singapore did this after what happened during the launch of prismatic evolutions etb. Cops had to be called on the day due to the congestion caused by the crowd. I hope this blows up enough to let PTCGi know how much demand they are overlooking and do a big reprint for the modern sets.
Alternatively, this could be them basically admitting they can't outmaneuver the bots. Pretty sad either way.
Or the employees just wanna clear the stock out themself
Is Prismatic Evolutions even out anywhere? I've yet to see this product on a shelf anywhere.
Seen it online in the UK a few times since release. Not seen it in shops though. Sold out day 1 apparently. Everywhere had limits as well so people can't even properly scalp it. Collector demand must just be insane right now.

@@monkey39128mostly scalper demand unfortunately. There’s a group of scalpers that placed pre-orders for ETB’s on multiple sites and strategically split up and hit as many retail stores as possible to buy out as much stock as possible. In the end they ended up with more than a 100 ETB’s which they are now selling for £100 each.
Managed to find it in my local candy store here in Sweden. Got their last etb there for 80 bux and few days later they stocket poster boxes that ran out the same day. And a toy store had just stocket the binder collection a week ago here which alos had almost ran out after 2 hours when i went back for 1 more. I bought 2 binder and 1 poster box. And i pulled the umbreon SIR when i opened 13 packs and keeping the etb sealed.
Its not gonna be on shelves. It'll be there as soon as it releases and gone the same hour probably. Some shops even only do preorder. At least that's my experience in the UK in a pretty quiet town and village. Absolutely no chance in the US I'd imagine

This is honestly the way it should be. If my LGS rewarded my loyalty and years of investment and patronage of their business by selling everything to flippers then I would just buy online for the cheapest price from then on.
I will say here in Pennsylvania on the go live date the shelves were raided and it's now back yo the way to was during the pandemic. The flippers and ebay sellers are snatching up the inventory by the armfull (I witnessed it) and not giving anyone a chance to simply buy something for their kid who likes to play TCG, not simply collect. Some stores are even back to limiting purchases. Witness a store manager in a verbal devate with a customer at the register with 7 of of the EX Collection box sets and telling him after several times, "Pick 2 and that's it. The rest goes back. There are other customers here."
Honestly, imho, Pokemon needs to start putting a buying restriction on all their products upon release from now on to help to quell this scalper problem. like purchase 2 per customer for the first few months or something like that cuz this is getting ridiculous. idk how that works, if its actually a distributor decision or whatever but they should have distributors hold to that as a policy or they dont get product to sell kind of thing.
Pokémon TCG fans like me gave up trying to buy TCG products at the physical Pokemon Center Singapore store, they are have some loose packs and no ETB in store. PC ETB totally out of stock since Dec 2024. There’s no pre-order like in US, Canada or UK. They sell on third party sales platform, which will be snatched up within seconds by bots or someone who allegedly got the product URL from insider before actual release. It’s just all round sadness for TCG fans.
My local target has finally had to limit people the amount of trading cards they're getting per day but people keep trying to pretend to be new folks on the same day and irritating them. Gamestop had limits too. I'm hoping I can find blooming waters and some more prismatic evolutions. I'd still like the binder collection.

For those in the UK, the prismatic evolutions mini tins are releasing 21 Feb and the surprise boxes 28 Feb. The tech sticker collection is this upcoming Friday 7 Feb.
The lines at the Singapore PC was a fire hazard! They're not stocking it because of the crazy amount of people showing up
This is ridiculous. Stores can just do as they do in civilized countries in Europe and just limit to 1-3 pcs. Per customer. The reality is that pokemon has not printed enough, as stores cannot get their allocations, and stores just want to sell all and do not experience what they normally experience with pokemon, not selling out, and not big margins.
Maybe for more popular sets they should wait 6 months instead of 3 for the next set. The price is not worth it to open.

Pokémon Centers in Singapore refusing to sell Prismatic Evolutions & 151 Blooming Waters is justified & a middle finger to scalpers. Also, if North America & Europe started doing so along with law enforcement Scalpers would submit, run, or maybe turn to another hobby other than Pokémon.

unfortunately, it didn’t really stop scalpers because they still bought all the products immediately via the online platform and reselling it on the secondary market at 4x the price. a lot of us didn’t even see the products get listed at all before it sold out 😢

Pokemony company is not printing to demant in long term and this is a result... Just print way too many just like with charizard UPC and everyhting will be oright. They did these low prints on purpose so nothing stays on the shelves so they make sure they make profit...

Oh no. Pokemon cards are becoming like modern star wars. See no one cares about star wars because there has not been anything good for years. So people got out of the habit of getting star wars stuff and watching new star wars. This is what Pokemon are doing right now. They are punishing their normal customers because of some very bad customers. But instead of keeping the normal customers they will now keep the bad. Because the normal customers are breaking their normal habits. I noticed I used to spend $100 dollars on Pokemon cards every month. But now I just spend $10 at most. Because there is no Pokemon card verity where I usually shop. And because I broke the habit of spending $100 every month. I wince at Pokemon cards I buy that are over $30. So Pokemon lost my normal habit means they lost $100 a month. And if I am not the only one that is doing this. How much money is Pokemon losing by punishing all their customers? 🤔

Let's put it this way. They can't reprint these sets. Mainly because we the people will expect them to reprint the base set and so on and so forth. They just need to improve their marketing and sales practices.
Costco DOES NOT need to be selling pokemon cards. Stores that require a membership to get a hand on should not sell any. Distribute them to walmart/target/gamestop/etc where everyone can get equal chances at getting with set max limit of one of each product per person.
