    Very informative video, thank you!
    I have a question:
    If I'm a recent graduate with good step scores (step 1 240-250; step 2 250+), 3-4 months of USCE, good LORs, decent CV and PL - how important is research and volunteering, is it a dealbreaker if I have none for IM? Can I compensate this red flag by taking step 3?

    • @usmlesarthi2024
      @usmlesarthi2024  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With your profile lack of research is not an issue. do your CV/PS well and prepare well for interviews. It should be work out well. Research is good to have but not a requirement.
      If you have time you can do Step 3 but again recent grad with these scores will do well even without

      Dude, is that a hypothetical question? Such good scores, LORs and USCS, and you still doubt you’ll get an IM match? I’ve seen people eith low scores and just USCE,or good scores and no USCE get in. I think you’re just asking about a possible scenario, not the true one. Otherwise you’d know, too

    Hello, I am a US citizen IMG who graduated in 2014. I stayed in Ireland, where I did my medical school, for an additional 4 and half years to work in the rural setting as well as in an established hospital for 1 year after my graduation. I gave my step 1 in beginning of 2019 and scored 215, and I am giving my step 2ck next month. I have done one telemedicine rotation and one clerkship within this summer. Do I have any chance of matching this year ? I am looking to apply in both FM and IM because that's what my work was most matching.

    Hi, thank you for this information. I am currently in my fourth year of medical school in the Carribean. My Third and fourth year rotations were in the US and I am a US citizen but living in Canada. Still have to take CK but am going for this match. You have mentioned gaps look bad, are those gaps in our medical education, like time off to study for Step exams, also I had a gap gap as our rotations were cancelled due to covid. Hence, I was unable to take the rest of my elective rotations and will graduate march. I have volunteer and research experiences but mainly undergrad, not during medschool. I am just curious what the chances of matching are.

    It is a good thing that I stumbled on this video and for that I am grateful. You have earned a subscriber.
    I just started my 4th year of medical school(my medical school is in Nigeria and I'm Nigerian as well).
    I am interested in going for a surgery program residency (orthopedic surgery) and I am aware that it is a very competitive specialty. I haven't written step 1 yet and in my school away rotations /clinical rotations are usually done in 5th year hence I have no experience in that yet.
    So my question is this:
    1. What will it take for me as an IMG to enter into a surgery program in the US.
    2. When do you suggest I write USMLE step 1
    3. Am I required to do away rotations in the US since I'm interested in going into the surgery program which is very competitive. Or I can do it in my country or a country close by like Ghana, Cameroon, south Africa?
    Thanks!!!! Really looking forward to a reply 🙏🏾
