None of the cbs of the groups I stan or the ones I just chance upon are never “hitting it” the way 2018 songs did (we had WIL, Love Scenario, Love Shot, other iconic bops - and thats from the big kpop acts alone!) Though id argue what salvaged 2020 for me were the solo acts, with baek zico sunmi hwasa and even wonho delivering.

yes, you totally captured how i feel about Girls!! that song just RESONATES with me in a way that no other kpop song ever has before, and it's 99% because of the lyrics. it's an emotion i've never seen addressed so directly, but one that defined my younger years. i wrote so many poems on that very subject. it feels like the songwriters reached into my brain, pulled out my deepest desires and fears, and made them into a kpop song.

I think it was a great song and I was so glad that the guys took the risk and used it as an opportunity to try something very different from their usual stuff. While I think it's ok to love and hype the song, as a listener and as a fan I also completely accept that this was a song that was an unplanned gift from the guys. It really earned its popularity and unexpected success, but even the guys themselves keep repeating that some of their new album songs will be better than dynamite. I think that they themselves know and hint that it's not a musical masterpiece by any standards and it wasn't presented or marketed as such. It did its original job - bring a spring into your step when it came on, make you smile at the visuals of the MV (especially B side) and stuck in your mind so even through a long day you could hum the earwormy "dynananananananah eh dynananananah eeeh"

This summer was filled with so many great comebacks imo. Twice, Ateez, Straykids, Dreamcatcher, Irene & seulgi debut, (G)i-dle, BTS, Blackpink, and many more delivered a ray of sunshine lighting up a rather terrible year. The year is not over yet and my favorite albums & M/V list is very long.

2. This song made me discover Me Time and I'm obsessed now
3. As a 2D animator I love that you appreciated the animation in IU's video
4. i was surprised you put pporappipam so high but I loved hearing why you like it so much

This summer was filled with so many great comebacks imo. Twice, Ateez, Straykids, Dreamcatcher, Irene & seulgi debut, (G)i-dle, BTS, Blackpink, and many more delivered a ray of sunshine lighting up a rather terrible year. The year is not over yet and my favorite albums & M/V list is very long.

Nature - Girls is definitely in my top 10 for the year so far, I'm a bit obsessed with it. No idea exactly why, just love it.
Naughty - Red Velvet is probably somewhere on that list as well. That and Feel Good are amazing, so much attitude and style.
Taemin's Criminal is definitely my current top for the year. I love that song with every fiber of my being. I can't wait to hear your Aug/Sept reviews! I've been really enjoying Wonho - Open Mind and Treasure - Boy as well, which normally aren't my type of music but are definitely earworms.
