@@fae91 they actually did write it. It was one if their trainee evaluation songs. Apparently RBW evaluates the trainees not just on singing, rapping and dancing but also producing and song writing. It isn't the only song they made themselves.

I know that RBW also evaluates their writing and producing skills, and based on their credits on the songs they did participate in the writing of a lot of them. However i just looked at the credits, and only Yuki is on it for that particular song. (this is not to discredit all their hard work, skills and other amazing songs, but this song in particular wasn't written by them. It was a song that they trained with, and they did choreograph it themselves.)

Swan’s “Fire!” ad-lib in the second chorus is so clever and cute and has just a little bit of snarky sass and I Adore it. this song is unabashed in every possible way and it has one of my favorite music videos of the year so far - all the girls suit the era so well but Chaein ATE and, as you (mera) say, that’s that! my favorite snack these days is apples and peanut butter, but that might be dicey if you’re working on a computer. hope you’re well, happy spooky season!!
I repeated that Adlib over 7 times during my first listen and I realized I had fallen in love. So confused when I didn't see more people talking about it because Swan's SUCH an it girl.
The song in general is pretty well-composed for a retro-pop-sounding, Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' reminiscent Halloween disco track. Like how they incorporate Yuki's rap flows so well, working in that eerie yet adorable pre-chorus, and that chant-y part of the bridge is to die for!! ;) Cohesive yet exciting structure, only improvement I could think of is wishing that chant bridge had another round before NG's high note!

I feel like Purple Kiss may become another Red Velvet. They pull off "cute/dark" really well. Snacks... the best thing for me in college I think is making sure to alternate food groups so I don't get burnt out of one flavor. Right now I usually have tangerines. But usually I'll alternate: fruit roll-up one day, chips and hummus another, freeze-dried chickpeas for protein, etc. Also, I love to squeeze fresh citrus into a glass of ice water; it's super refreshing. I love Jieun's stage presence; it cheers me up to the point where she'll probably become my bias. You said she gives you Jisoo vibes; she gave me Jiu vibes (Dreamcatcher)-they're both oldest members who are kind of fake maknaes, rock long dark hair, billion-watt smiles, etc. They even look vaguely similar. I hope she gets more appreciation over the years, because finding someone who seems that genuinely cheerful onstage is a rare thing. Mera, you're one of the people who got me into kpop. You made me realize there are people out there who are both excited about the glitz and glamour and the charisma of the idols while also having a deep appreciation for the music. You're also far more literary about this stuff than I'm ever likely to be (I'm not very thesis-driven and don't have passion for the humanities.) At this point I don't really have anyone to talk kpop with, but if I ever met someone who thought about music similarly to how you do, I'd be so excited. Thanks for sharing your words with us.
I agree, from their pre-releases, dark-ish concept from Ponzona, to funky colourful Zombie, I like that they are trying to be different, their concept is unique to them, their sound versatile and fresh, the members really sell the concept. I particularly like how versatile all members are. Likewise, I do agree that Jieun is a stand-out for me since Ponzona, she has very good stage presence and good facials expressions all throughout. Swan and Goeun really bring this vocal energy, both have really good consistency and Goeun is a really good centre. The bridge with Chaein and Yuki singing together really stayed in my head. I had mixed feelings about the song at first, but it's different, fun and fresh.
Twinkle is such a crying-while-dancing-your-heart-out-in-the-club-at-3am vibe. Also thanks for explaining cast pearls before swine lol i was so confused.
oh, I love this comeback so much, Chaein and Jieun own "zombie" in my opinion. And I truly adore "twinkle", it reminds me so much of songs that I used to hear on a radio when I was growing up
Deeply appreciating the love for Swan's 'Fire' moment as too many reactions just glossed over that moment or gave it a passing "cute" but for me it was the moment that stuck around in my head and would randomly play when I wasn't even thinking about the song, which is in itself uncommon. Also, as an aside suggested snacks would be saltines, my absolute go to.
I’m so so so glad I stanned Purple Kiss since pre-debut and they absolutely delivered on this first comeback and album, they are going to be 4th gen legends!
I have no idea how this managed to hide from me... but now... I guess it's gonna be a zombie month from now. And as far as snack suggestion: rice noodles/glass noodles with peanut butter sauce and cucumbers.
zombie was just such a wonderful comeback for purple kiss, it showed how they could execute even more genres with perfection and wow they just suited zombie so much. it's still on repeat for me. swan's 'fire!' ad-lib lives rent free in my brain and i can't even be mad it's just so cute and fitting. just as a onewe enthusiast i wanted to point out that kanghyun (member of band onewe who is also under rbw) did the guitar for both twinkle and so why. its really interesting to see he contributed in twinkle as kanghyun has a genuine love for the cosmos (literally wrote a song in which he detailed it's formation in a poetic and romantic re-telling). a large majority of his songs have been about space and he really captures it's feeling within them. funnily enough, cya (also of onewe) wrote the bridge for zombie and acts a the human guy the girls have a crush on in the mv (yes the one that faints upon seeing them) which is very amusing >
I 100% agree with Zombie being Chaein's era, she ATE (those brains-). I also really appreciate what you said about Yuki, she and her raps really feel like they're there for a good reason. Twinkle is my personal song of the year, everything about it is so wonderful to me. It's one of those songs that makes me feel alive, you know? I feel like I could go anywhere and do anything when I listen to it, especially during the pre-chorus, it's so heavenly. And then the chorus has one of my favourite instrumentals of all time. I don't know, it's just so special to me. This is my album of the year, and if I had to rank them, it would look like this: Twinkle, So Why, Cast Pearls Before Swine, Zombie/Zzz (it depends on my mood, in general, I'd say they're tied), and 2pm. I know for a fact that by the second comeback Purple Kiss will be one of my ult groups, they're everything I want in a group. I've been a fan since Can We Talk Again, and I'm so excited for their future releases. Great video as always! (omg I wrote so much-)

You’re back! Hope school isn’t being too hard, and you’re doing alright today I’ll be honest, I’m still a Ponzona > Zombie person. Ponzona captured everything I love in a good song, and that aesthetic is what I one day hope to replicate. If Zombie is your wake up song, Ponzona is for me the song that keeps me calm and collected, and tempers my anxiety. That being said, I really enjoyed Zombie! Again, not a favorite but a song that not only would I not turn off should it come on the radio, but one I jam too. My favorite song was also Cast Pearls Into Swine - the 1st verse has my heart. 2AM though was a close second; it’s a good song to doze off too, and it’s currently my alarm as it wakes me up slowly and gently (I can’t STAND scary, loud alarms) Finally, my snacks are often those small “crack an egg” cartoons; they only take 2 minutes to make, and they really fill me up. I also like like those pretzel chips, particularly with peanut butter or chocolate
what initially pulled me to the comeback was that cya of onewe, my top ult, was credited as a writer on zombie (he did the bridge lyrics) and then he ended featuring in the mv as the guy pk try to charm, it was so cute. now i stan pk so thats their magic i guess

I'm here for the Ji Eun praise ! she's so fun to watch this comeback, I'm always excited for her parts when I watch their performances because she just looks like she's having the time of her life performing on stage and that just makes me happy
When I stumbled across PD48 and IZ*One almost 8 months after the show wrapped, one of my favorite contestants was Go Eun. She already was a great singer and you kind of realized it's pretty obvious what RBW values, the ability to sing live. Mnet tried to make Go Eun and Yuri into bitter rivals with their editing, but I thought it was great seeing them working together so much as in some ways they both pushed each other to be better due to the competition. Also seeing Go Eun with one of the Very Very Very teams that would go on to form much of IZ*One. Not long after I belatedly finished watching Produce 48, I stumbled across Practice 365 and would often check out the covers and content that the proto-group created. I thought it was such a great idea to show so much of the group doing things live, especially singing as being with RBW this group was going to get compared to what is arguably the best live singing female group in K-pop and perhaps the best example of a group that focuses on performing on stage and owning the audience. Showing through 365 that the group had talents comparable to their seniors was a wise idea and also not rushing their debut was wise as well. I liked your comment regarding how of the rookie groups, this one seems like one that will benefit the most from college festivals and concerts when live music in front of real audiences returns hopefully by spring or summer of next year. You see signs of how this group will figure out, much as Mamamoo has, how to suck in a crowd with comical ad-libs, name dropping your audience, and playing to and with the crowd. I can definitely see several members who will have that swagger to engage with the crowd rather than just perform a song straight up and make a performance a unique event rather than just a repeat of what you saw on music shows.
Swan’s voice does sound dramatic, not in a bad way but like her voice has depth and it feels as if we are watching a musical(might just be me tho). I forced my mother to watch the M/V and she thought Swan was the oldest because of the richness in her voice XD. I am glad that they didn’t completely change the concept in this comeback. They kept the the dark concept with a bit comedic-cutesy spin on it. I loved this comeback.
I don't want to seem like I'm flexing because I've been following them since pre debut but I'm so glad I got the chance to do so because I really loved the group dynamic and their voices and I can see how they'll grow as artists from the very beginning. I hope and see they'll get big 🖤

Purplekiss have heen floating at the sides of my general kpop consciousness since a few weeks before their debut. Before zombie came out, I've only ever heard Ponzona in snippets, and I was always impressed, but I rememeber my priorities being somewhere else at the time, though i've forgotten what. And so i never got closer to them than floating in the back of my mind. And then Zombie happened. I can attest that EVERY member stands out this era, because I got fixated on every single member in the course of one song. After a single listen, I went into a trance and only woke up 3 hours later, neck deep into old 365 practice videos, already knowing every member's name. I love this song. I love this group. The fact that this is so incredibly different from their debut has opened the possibilities for purplekiss up to infinity. They set high expectations with ponzona and instead of exceeding them, decided to completely break them. And I'm honestly so excited to see where they'll go in the future.
Yay, early! Can’t wait to finish the vid, I’ve been obsessed with this comeback. Edit: Yuki and Swan caught my eye so much this comeback. Both of their voices in Zombie left such lasting impressions and they’re both cuties. Overall though, there wasn’t a single member that didn’t fit the concept. They all fit it in their own way and I think that’s what made it so fun. The live stages were so good too! My favorites from the album are Zombie and ZZZZ. I’m so excited to see what Purple Kiss does next, they have so much potential.

I share sooo much of your opinion here! Personally, I would rank zombie first just because of how addicting it is to me but I adored this mini (?) as a whole it brings such a good vibe. I am so excited to see what those girls bring next!
My favourite song in this album is Zzzz. It makes me feel warm and comfortable ❤️ Chaein really popped off this comeback, I 100% agree with you. The look in her eyes is also completely different, like she’s out to kill. It’s incredible!
For me, this comeback just showed why I think Purple Kiss are going to be one of the leading Girl Groups of the 4th gen, and why people need to keep an eye on them. They have showed that they are good at every field: vocals, rap, dance and even visuals (if we can call that a "field", but K-Pop fans really prioritize visuals so). Their discography is also no joke, every song of theirs is a hit for me, even their ballad ones! When I think about the K-Pop B-sides I loved the most this year, I always end up thinking about Purple Kiss' B-Sides, specially the Hide&Seek ones. They are all good songs, that don't rely on the same structure, concept or gimmick to make an impact. Even with only 2 releases, Purple Kiss has shown us more diversity than some groups with 3 years. I really feel like Zombie is one of the best songs released this year, and one of the best songs of the genre to ever come out. I have been with Purple Kiss even before they were "Purple Kiss", and I can say that every single release they grow so much, and the thing is, they already debuted so strongly, marking a great impact and a big difference from other rookie groups. Lately K-Pop has been debuting trainees that are more and more underdevoleped, and still needed some training, in order to debut the members as young as possible, but with Purple Kiss, they debuted when they were trully ready to do so. Their stage presence and skills showed that. And this comeback just made this even more clear, and also shows how good Purple Kiss is going to be in a few years. Overall, I loved this comeback, and I am so excited to see what kind of concept we are getting next, and I love this feeling! The feeling of not knowing what your favourite group is releasing next. RBW hit gold with Purple Kiss, and I am sure they will grow very big in the near future, when people start getting over their prejudices against groups from small companies.

mera my heart jumped out of my chest when i got this notification. Zombie is hands down my song of the year. Its the perfect mix of late emo/pop punk aesthetics and grabbing onto everything that is good about the disco revival. The chorus almost has Prince influence and every member of the group seems so comfortable and happy in this concept. 2am is my favourite song on the album, as i am a tea break centric individual. Cannot wait to see where Purple Kiss will go next; their options are truly limitless.

I absolutely love Zombie, as much as I love Ponzona. What amazed me the most is that we keep getting amazing b-sides that makes us hard to choose which we like most, the title track or the b-side, that good the album is!. Besides that, they killed their stage performances, they looked so happy while performing and the outfits rocked.
As a Yuki bias, my favourites off of this album were definitely Cast Pearls Before Swine and Zombie. Her raps are just so clean and I adore her cadence and flow in them. Also, just curious Mera, who’s your bias?

My original song ranking was absolutely the same but then the stars momentarily aligned and suddenly Twinkle was on repeat. Purple kiss are a beautiful blend of tones and absolutely my go to rookies. I consistently plan d&d sessions listening to them

Mera!!! So good to see you again! Hope you are lovely beyond measure! Purple Kiss is one of my favorite new groups, and seeing this video pop up filled my day with Joy. They are truly one of those groups who really can’t be properly introduced with only one song. I honestly considered their debut single to be called “Can We Talk About My Heart Skipping A Beat Perhaps Due to Ponzona, Metaphorically Speaking?”. And then they just smack me across the face with a giant stick of rock candy called “Zombie”. Each one of these girls adds such a unique and essential element to the band and it’s always fantastic to have a group where everyone has creative input. I honestly can’t have a bias here, they are all bias wreckers and my heart is in tatters after every comeback. I am continuously blown away and always excited to see what they’ve done and where they’re going next. Funny (kinda) story. I ordered Into Violet and, unfortunately, we have this local hooligan punk who has stolen mail before and he totally nabbed the package. I ended up getting a free replacement but as annoyed as I was I just got this kick out of him opening it up to find this “Girl Group” album and being like “dude whuuuu….?”. Here’s hoping it changes his life for the better. Or he at least sells it to someone who appreciates it. Between him and the 70 year old lady at the library I gave a BTS album to, I am spreading K-Pop in all sorts of strange ways! Fantastic video as always!! Oh, and random side note. Chiaki J. Konaka (who wrote for Ultraman, Serial Experiments Lain and all sorts of weird anime) apparently released a 400 page book about Babymetal, which is just awesomesauce in my book, but it also made me think “I would kill for a 400 page book by Mera about any group, or just K-Pop in general!”. I know video is your ultimate format, you are frighteningly good at editing, but your writing is also at an exceedingly high level that would work on its own. Just putting that out there. Hide and Seek has made it into my top albums of this year so far! I adore all these songs, and I'm not final yet, but I think my bias is Yuki! Looking forward to more Mera greatness! I recommend hot apple cider to compliment whatever autumn snack you eat while editing.

I haven't heard any bsides yet, but both Ponzoña and Zombie slithered into my heart so unexpectedly that I don't really know what to do with myself 😀 I like the confidence they have, how they're unafraid of a little creepy and how they marry spooky and cute in these two songs. Their voices are FANTASTIC and their choreography hypnotizes me, which... yeah, that's what attracts me to a group the most, so I'd love to dive deeper and I will definitely keep an eye out for them in the future! Also, snack suggestion: yogurt and jam with pieces of biscuits (idk where this word means what I think of and where it's bread-like, so the things that are like crackers but sweet). I find it very filling and depending on the yogurt/jam ratio you can make it more on the sweet side or less so ☺️

I feel like Purple Kiss may become another Red Velvet. They pull off "cute/dark" really well.
Snacks... the best thing for me in college I think is making sure to alternate food groups so I don't get burnt out of one flavor. Right now I usually have tangerines. But usually I'll alternate: fruit roll-up one day, chips and hummus another, freeze-dried chickpeas for protein, etc. Also, I love to squeeze fresh citrus into a glass of ice water; it's super refreshing.
I love Jieun's stage presence; it cheers me up to the point where she'll probably become my bias. You said she gives you Jisoo vibes; she gave me Jiu vibes (Dreamcatcher)-they're both oldest members who are kind of fake maknaes, rock long dark hair, billion-watt smiles, etc. They even look vaguely similar. I hope she gets more appreciation over the years, because finding someone who seems that genuinely cheerful onstage is a rare thing.
Mera, you're one of the people who got me into kpop. You made me realize there are people out there who are both excited about the glitz and glamour and the charisma of the idols while also having a deep appreciation for the music. You're also far more literary about this stuff than I'm ever likely to be (I'm not very thesis-driven and don't have passion for the humanities.) At this point I don't really have anyone to talk kpop with, but if I ever met someone who thought about music similarly to how you do, I'd be so excited. Thanks for sharing your words with us.
I agree, from their pre-releases, dark-ish concept from Ponzona, to funky colourful Zombie, I like that they are trying to be different, their concept is unique to them, their sound versatile and fresh, the members really sell the concept. I particularly like how versatile all members are. Likewise, I do agree that Jieun is a stand-out for me since Ponzona, she has very good stage presence and good facials expressions all throughout. Swan and Goeun really bring this vocal energy, both have really good consistency and Goeun is a really good centre. The bridge with Chaein and Yuki singing together really stayed in my head. I had mixed feelings about the song at first, but it's different, fun and fresh.
Twinkle is such a crying-while-dancing-your-heart-out-in-the-club-at-3am vibe. Also thanks for explaining cast pearls before swine lol i was so confused.

Deeply appreciating the love for Swan's 'Fire' moment as too many reactions just glossed over that moment or gave it a passing "cute" but for me it was the moment that stuck around in my head and would randomly play when I wasn't even thinking about the song, which is in itself uncommon. Also, as an aside suggested snacks would be saltines, my absolute go to.

zombie was just such a wonderful comeback for purple kiss, it showed how they could execute even more genres with perfection and wow they just suited zombie so much. it's still on repeat for me. swan's 'fire!' ad-lib lives rent free in my brain and i can't even be mad it's just so cute and fitting.
just as a onewe enthusiast i wanted to point out that kanghyun (member of band onewe who is also under rbw) did the guitar for both twinkle and so why. its really interesting to see he contributed in twinkle as kanghyun has a genuine love for the cosmos (literally wrote a song in which he detailed it's formation in a poetic and romantic re-telling). a large majority of his songs have been about space and he really captures it's feeling within them.
funnily enough, cya (also of onewe) wrote the bridge for zombie and acts a the human guy the girls have a crush on in the mv (yes the one that faints upon seeing them) which is very amusing >

Twinkle is my personal song of the year, everything about it is so wonderful to me. It's one of those songs that makes me feel alive, you know? I feel like I could go anywhere and do anything when I listen to it, especially during the pre-chorus, it's so heavenly. And then the chorus has one of my favourite instrumentals of all time. I don't know, it's just so special to me.
This is my album of the year, and if I had to rank them, it would look like this: Twinkle, So Why, Cast Pearls Before Swine, Zombie/Zzz (it depends on my mood, in general, I'd say they're tied), and 2pm. I know for a fact that by the second comeback Purple Kiss will be one of my ult groups, they're everything I want in a group. I've been a fan since Can We Talk Again, and I'm so excited for their future releases.

I’ll be honest, I’m still a Ponzona > Zombie person. Ponzona captured everything I love in a good song, and that aesthetic is what I one day hope to replicate. If Zombie is your wake up song, Ponzona is for me the song that keeps me calm and collected, and tempers my anxiety.
That being said, I really enjoyed Zombie! Again, not a favorite but a song that not
only would I not turn off should it come on the radio, but one I jam too. My favorite song was also Cast Pearls Into Swine - the 1st verse has my heart. 2AM though was a close second; it’s a good song to doze off too, and it’s currently my alarm as it wakes me up slowly and gently (I can’t STAND scary, loud alarms)

When I stumbled across PD48 and IZ*One almost 8 months after the show wrapped, one of my favorite contestants was Go Eun. She already was a great singer and you kind of realized it's pretty obvious what RBW values, the ability to sing live. Mnet tried to make Go Eun and Yuri into bitter rivals with their editing, but I thought it was great seeing them working together so much as in some ways they both pushed each other to be better due to the competition. Also seeing Go Eun with one of the Very Very Very teams that would go on to form much of IZ*One. Not long after I belatedly finished watching Produce 48, I stumbled across Practice 365 and would often check out the covers and content that the proto-group created. I thought it was such a great idea to show so much of the group doing things live, especially singing as being with RBW this group was going to get compared to what is arguably the best live singing female group in K-pop and perhaps the best example of a group that focuses on performing on stage and owning the audience. Showing through 365 that the group had talents comparable to their seniors was a wise idea and also not rushing their debut was wise as well. I liked your comment regarding how of the rookie groups, this one seems like one that will benefit the most from college festivals and concerts when live music in front of real audiences returns hopefully by spring or summer of next year. You see signs of how this group will figure out, much as Mamamoo has, how to suck in a crowd with comical ad-libs, name dropping your audience, and playing to and with the crowd. I can definitely see several members who will have that swagger to engage with the crowd rather than just perform a song straight up and make a performance a unique event rather than just a repeat of what you saw on music shows.
The whole album is AMAZING and i will continue to say it.
The bridge with my two biases yuki and chaein is just *chef’s kiss*. I screamed when i first heard it.
Swan’s voice does sound dramatic, not in a bad way but like her voice has depth and it feels as if we are watching a musical(might just be me tho). I forced my mother to watch the M/V and she thought Swan was the oldest because of the richness in her voice XD.
I am glad that they didn’t completely change the concept in this comeback. They kept the the dark concept with a bit comedic-cutesy spin on it. I loved this comeback.

Purplekiss have heen floating at the sides of my general kpop consciousness since a few weeks before their debut. Before zombie came out, I've only ever heard Ponzona in snippets, and I was always impressed, but I rememeber my priorities being somewhere else at the time, though i've forgotten what. And so i never got closer to them than floating in the back of my mind.
And then Zombie happened.
I can attest that EVERY member stands out this era, because I got fixated on every single member in the course of one song. After a single listen, I went into a trance and only woke up 3 hours later, neck deep into old 365 practice videos, already knowing every member's name.
I love this song. I love this group. The fact that this is so incredibly different from their debut has opened the possibilities for purplekiss up to infinity. They set high expectations with ponzona and instead of exceeding them, decided to completely break them. And I'm honestly so excited to see where they'll go in the future.

Edit: Yuki and Swan caught my eye so much this comeback. Both of their voices in Zombie left such lasting impressions and they’re both cuties. Overall though, there wasn’t a single member that didn’t fit the concept. They all fit it in their own way and I think that’s what made it so fun. The live stages were so good too! My favorites from the album are Zombie and ZZZZ. I’m so excited to see what Purple Kiss does next, they have so much potential.

2AM has that classic ballad feel in kpop, it’s like a BTOB b-side or SES? it had that simple feel but it’s so nostalgic!
For me, this comeback just showed why I think Purple Kiss are going to be one of the leading Girl Groups of the 4th gen, and why people need to keep an eye on them. They have showed that they are good at every field: vocals, rap, dance and even visuals (if we can call that a "field", but K-Pop fans really prioritize visuals so). Their discography is also no joke, every song of theirs is a hit for me, even their ballad ones! When I think about the K-Pop B-sides I loved the most this year, I always end up thinking about Purple Kiss' B-Sides, specially the Hide&Seek ones. They are all good songs, that don't rely on the same structure, concept or gimmick to make an impact. Even with only 2 releases, Purple Kiss has shown us more diversity than some groups with 3 years. I really feel like Zombie is one of the best songs released this year, and one of the best songs of the genre to ever come out. I have been with Purple Kiss even before they were "Purple Kiss", and I can say that every single release they grow so much, and the thing is, they already debuted so strongly, marking a great impact and a big difference from other rookie groups. Lately K-Pop has been debuting trainees that are more and more underdevoleped, and still needed some training, in order to debut the members as young as possible, but with Purple Kiss, they debuted when they were trully ready to do so. Their stage presence and skills showed that. And this comeback just made this even more clear, and also shows how good Purple Kiss is going to be in a few years.
Overall, I loved this comeback, and I am so excited to see what kind of concept we are getting next, and I love this feeling! The feeling of not knowing what your favourite group is releasing next. RBW hit gold with Purple Kiss, and I am sure they will grow very big in the near future, when people start getting over their prejudices against groups from small companies.

mera my heart jumped out of my chest when i got this notification. Zombie is hands down my song of the year. Its the perfect mix of late emo/pop punk aesthetics and grabbing onto everything that is good about the disco revival. The chorus almost has Prince influence and every member of the group seems so comfortable and happy in this concept. 2am is my favourite song on the album, as i am a tea break centric individual. Cannot wait to see where Purple Kiss will go next; their options are truly limitless.

I absolutely love Zombie, as much as I love Ponzona. What amazed me the most is that we keep getting amazing b-sides that makes us hard to choose which we like most, the title track or the b-side, that good the album is!.

Purple Kiss is one of my favorite new groups, and seeing this video pop up filled my day with Joy. They are truly one of those groups who really can’t be properly introduced with only one song. I honestly considered their debut single to be called “Can We Talk About My Heart Skipping A Beat Perhaps Due to Ponzona, Metaphorically Speaking?”. And then they just smack me across the face with a giant stick of rock candy called “Zombie”.
Each one of these girls adds such a unique and essential element to the band and it’s always fantastic to have a group where everyone has creative input. I honestly can’t have a bias here, they are all bias wreckers and my heart is in tatters after every comeback. I am continuously blown away and always excited to see what they’ve done and where they’re going next.
Funny (kinda) story. I ordered Into Violet and, unfortunately, we have this local hooligan punk who has stolen mail before and he totally nabbed the package. I ended up getting a free replacement but as annoyed as I was I just got this kick out of him opening it up to find this “Girl Group” album and being like “dude whuuuu….?”. Here’s hoping it changes his life for the better. Or he at least sells it to someone who appreciates it. Between him and the 70 year old lady at the library I gave a BTS album to, I am spreading K-Pop in all sorts of strange ways!

Konaka (who wrote for Ultraman, Serial Experiments Lain and all sorts of weird anime) apparently released a 400 page book about Babymetal, which is just awesomesauce in my book, but it also made me think “I would kill for a 400 page book by Mera about any group, or just K-Pop in general!”. I know video is your ultimate format, you are frighteningly good at editing, but your writing is also at an exceedingly high level that would work on its own. Just putting that out there. I haven't heard any bsides yet, but both Ponzoña and Zombie slithered into my heart so unexpectedly that I don't really know what to do with myself 😀 I like the confidence they have, how they're unafraid of a little creepy and how they marry spooky and cute in these two songs. Their voices are FANTASTIC and their choreography hypnotizes me, which... yeah, that's what attracts me to a group the most, so I'd love to dive deeper and I will definitely keep an eye out for them in the future!
Also, snack suggestion: yogurt and jam with pieces of biscuits (idk where this word means what I think of and where it's bread-like, so the things that are like crackers but sweet). I find it very filling and depending on the yogurt/jam ratio you can make it more on the sweet side or less so ☺️
