The original was fantastic, so I'm excited to get into this and see all the improvements and additions. If you like tough ARPGs and Metroidvanias, this is a must try. Death's Gambit and Salt and Sanctuary might be my favorite mashups of those two genres.
Souls games aren’t difficult for the sake of being difficult. They are difficult for the sake of learning how to over come difficulty. Once you click with a from software game, they really are not that hard anyway. They provide many ways to easily beat whatever the game throws at you. I also don’t think there is anything wrong with comparing things to dark souls as those games are definitely as revered as Metroid, castlevania and Zelda. people can reference those games without sounding cliché when talking about another’s inspiration. I don’t get what reviewers are so butt hurt about. From software deserve the recognition. It’s not like comparing need for speed to dark souls. I agree though, this version of deaths gambit is excellent so far.
While I think this looks awesome in its visual style and it looks like it plays well, I was a bit put off on hearing that it has souls like combat due to finding it frustrating. I’m glad to know it isn’t too bad because of the items you can purchase for your build, but I think I’ll still hold off for now. Thanks for the video.

Difficulty balancing is always a hard thing to do. I loved the GBA era of meyroidvanias as they were hard but manageable. Death's gambit is not an easy game but it is definitely playable.
I was interested until you said those dreaded words "Souls like" then I kinda lost that interest. Never been a fan of games that will want to make me throw my switch through the wall.

It's not for everyone so that's fair!
But Dark Souls combat is easy if you just dodge.
This game looks pretty fun. It's cool that Zelda 2 is so influential these days because it's one of my favorite nes games. Great review!

Can't find this on ps4 is expansion for switch only? Because I can,t find anywhere on the ps store.
According to the devs Twitter the PS4 version is a bit delayed.
