Gear matters!! I'm a brand designer and I used to do my work on a core i3 windows laptop for years, this year I bought a macbook and I swear it's like I got 10× better and more motivated to work more
I’ve gotten clients just because of the camera I was using. Gear does matter and you right about that. I’ve had so many clients just because I’ve had a RED or Sony or Canon camera depending on the situation.
Thank you for this video. I’ve had the FS5 for a couple years now and I never use it because I’ve been saving it for “the right project” but this has pushed me to pick it back up 🙏🏾🔥🔥
Gear do matter which why sometimes I get discouraged cause I can't afford a new camera right now, but I'll get there I did get my first sigma lens to at least try to get as much quality as possible out of it for now

Imo Gear matters a lot and i do not know why people still say it does not. The question for professionals is not only can i get a good looking shot it is also, is the codec easy and fast to work with, are the connections there for a professional workflow, from sdi to timecode etc,are the outputs latency free, are the colors matching, is it sturdy enough to get rigged or is there a cage or something to mount it safely etc. ... people need to use their brain a little bit more :D
@@waveland Not rushing myself because I already have the A7SIII and A7Rv. Would get 1-2 FX30's and from there I'll be fine with what I already have for streaming in 4K.
@@Tommy4k It is a brilliant camera, no doubt about it. It's just that I already have the A7SIII and the IQ is similar due to the shared sensor. I'm dreaming of a 2-layer transistor sensor that will shock the world in dynamic range and low light capabilities like the A9III did with its stacked global shutter sensor.
@@Tommy4k I don't really see it, no one is gonna ask a photographer what gear they are using before they show up on set 🤔 And in terms of photo quality we haven't seen any meaningful improvement in years, and in some aspects photo quality is being sacrificed for video.
No video Brother. I’ve been thinking about grabbing an FX six as well. The dealbreaker for me is not being able to connect audio without the handle and I run my FX three on a gimbal quite often besides that it’s a hell of a camera the FXX is.
So basically gear doesn’t matter, but perception does. Sadly people like the “professional” look without knowing you can do the same on smaller form factors.
Title like this bothers me so much. We all know that a lot of people are just about the hype of the latest cameras. Thea cameras are fully capable and I promise you can’t out done this camera once you know what you are doing. Great camera man.

Absolutely we might have been working off the same laptop because that’s how it was for me 😂
Thank you for this video! Totally tubular and I'm super excited and motivated to start filming once I get mines. Ups to all my cinematographers!
THANK YOU!
Gear doesn't matter until it matters. Great video and I hope that you enjoy the FX6
Exactly! And thank you

great video!
For the a74, how do you get by the rolling shutter on the camera when using a gimbal?
honestly I don't really notice it as much whenever I shoot
Good Choice
Thanks
Personally waiting for the FX6 II which will 100% have IBIS and internal ND, just like the Burano and the newly announced camcorders.
We are likely to see an FX9 successor announced soon, but replacements for the 3 and 6 probably won’t come until sometime next year.
Yeah I agree and for me this camera checks all the boxes that I’ll need for probably the next 4-5 years

I always took "gear doesn't matter" to be more of a photography thing than a video thing.
I think its equally as important in both worlds

thanks man and yeah I understand, I use the dji mics a lot so I just depend on those

The unfortunate truth

thanks man, could I ask why does the title bother you so much?
How can i be photography
Just practice and learning
If you were waiting this long, you may as well waited one more year for the replacement
I see where you’re coming from but I think this camera has more than everything I’ll need in a camera for the next 4-5 years
Enjoy the FX6 brother 🫡 it’ll serve you well homie
Thanks man! I’ve Watched probably every single video you’ve made about it 😂
