How does taking the load off the engine determine top speed?
Not the load, it just delays top speed, but the air drag or lack of it skews the top speed.
@@Wingedmechanic having the tire spin with no load doesn’t determine how fast the vehicle will go on the road. The engine has to overcome the weight of the rider the drag of the air as well as the rolling resistance from the tire on the ground.
Get a manual car and jack it up. Put it in gear and release the clutch. Lower the car and do it again. Much easier with no load. You can’t determine top speed or anything without a load
@@aircraftnut15 Please read and understand the difference between acceleration and speed. We are talking about top speed. Weight has no bearing in top speed as long as you get the gearing correct. A loaded vehicle on level surface will achieve same speed eventually as a similar model with no load. (As long as the 'load' doesn't increase drag).
What you said is correct for an aircraft though. They trade speed for lift to balance weight against drag.
@@Wingedmechanic read my previous comment. I have a 100cc dirt bike the Speedo goes to 240. Guess what on the road it tops out at 110. It absolutely makes all the difference what are you talking about.
