      Chronicler Edward Hall records it as taking place on 14th November 1532 and to me it makes sense because after that Henry and Anne started sleeping together. I really don't believe that they would have risked pregnancy after having waited all that time unless they had made some kind of formal commitment.

      The Anne Boleyn Files and Tudor Society...........i agree...........anne , had her eye , very much on the prize . she would not have gone through a pregnancy , without the benefit of marriage............

    🇦🇺🦘 The 'great matter' of King Henry VIII always very interesting to hear about. So sad that (as we now know) his much sought after marriage to Anne Boleyn, ended in her being falsely accused (with her brother and others) and executed. A huge injustice and a real tragedy for the Boleyn family as a whole. Thank you Claire 👑👍

    Claire, I discovered your Spotify podcast and then saw your TH-cam series. Love them both and subscribed to both. Is that a Liberty of London print you're wearing? Lovely. Your voice, love for your topic and scholarly research made accessible make this one of my favorite podcasts/TH-cam channels along with BBC History Extra. Love the bells, your kitty, dog. Delightful❤️❤️❤️

      ❤️👍 Well your haircut suits you and I love the button down print regardless. Thank you for sharing your love for all things Tudor and making it come alive to me and others in your viewing/listening audience. The best teachers are those who make you want to delve into the topic even more. I have your book on rush delivery with Amazon Prime. 😉

    Do you think if Catherine of Aragon went off to a religious life (as was suggested, correct?) that the Catholic Church would have stayed in power and faith in England? Or do you think protestantism would still have changed England?

    • @anneboleynfiles
      @anneboleynfiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think Henry would probably have stayed with Rome but I do think the Reformation would have happened at some point, perhaps in Edward's reign. There were so many people at court who were reading literature from the Continent and changing their beliefs.

      @@anneboleynfiles Thank you for your reply! I've always wondered about Henry's influence so I appreciate your educated opinion. Btw, there is a very interesting documentary by Waldemar Januszczak called "Holbein: Eye of the Tudors" that I very much recommend. Very revealing look at how Holbein saw the Tudors and particularly interesting take on Sir Thomas More and Cromwell. A must-see! ☺!
