Thanks for this. I hope mine detaches like this too, because it looks like the grout is holding ours on. I've been having a heck of a time pulling out the yuck stuff through the small holes...total nightmare.
It looks like you have a thin layer of dark grout over white grout between the floor tiles. I have the same thing and the thin skim coat cracked. Wondering why there’s 2 layers to it and if anyone has any insight to that
Brand new master bathroom walk-in shower has a rag sealed underneath the same “Oatey” one you have… grouted. The common area bathroom’s tub shower was unusable due to a badly soldered diverter (fell right off) and a bad handle/valve install (upside down; only off in the middle; instantly full hot in either direction). I fixed the other and gave the landlord several months but it seems I’m going to have to fix the walk-in myself too. The tile around it was already poorly cut so I hope he doesn’t blame me! What tool do you suggest for removing grout? Do I need grout when I put the grate back?
Thanks for making this! 🎉
I have the same drain cover and assumed I’d have to retile to get into it (to snake out a blockage).

Wow thanks for sharing! Hopefully my round strainer has the same mechanisms.

Grout cutter, will make it easy to remove. I would regrouted
Does the black part pull off also. I think my liner drain is clogged.
How do I put it back on?
Press it down
Thank you
