    My daily commute has in total 4 bus transfers and 14 miles of varied traffic and road conditions including bike lanes, residential streets, busy main roads, bridges, overpasses and off-road trails. I’ve run the gamut on scooter weight and sizes from light heavyweights (Vsett 10+R, Yume M10), middleweights( Turbowheel Swift, Mantis 8 Pro) and even a lightweight (Unagi M500). All were manageable, except the Unagi due to range. Considering portability and performance factors the mantis 8 pro quickly became my favorite. Just light and compact enough to get on the bus and up a flight or two of stairs with enough performance and comfort to make the ride stress free.

    I have a Hiboy S2 Pro that I commute with sometimes. It’s mostly been taken over by my 9 year old, but it does work for getting to the commuter rail station to go downtown. I’ve since moved on to electric unicycles, but scooters do have a lot going for them. The EUC was harder to learn, but once you do, it’s hard to beat the portability. It’s also hilly here, it crushes that. The Hiboy needs some kicking, not that that’s a deal breaker. It is really easy to get into scooters, for sure. All PEVs are a better choice than a car, many times.

    I ride the 2021 Ghost on my 2 mile commute daily, I've clocked up about 350 miles so car and it is absolutely amazing as it has enough power to carry me and all my stuff as well as carry me at high speeds (20+ mph) on very steep hills (the Ninebot Max I used to ride would not make it up those hills or if it did it'd be faster to walk).

      @Brandon The Sigma Well the solid tires are a no go. They're smooth its just they don't have any give to them so you have to worry about the bigger bumps and cracks. The light is garbage. I mean at this point every scooter over $1000 should come with lumens that are at least that (1000). It would be nice if the handle bars could be extended for mirrors. I just feel the more nimble the scooter, their should be more safety features so you can be seen if you have to get into traffic at night. These are all subjective though. I really do enjoy it otherwise. Especially since it's light enough to fold up and put into any trunk.

      Just curious, why don't you just buy a scooter and own it ? Why bother with subscription?
      They don't break that often that maintenance is required

    • @nepaliprayasgurung2594
      @nepaliprayasgurung2594 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikereimer1390 Because some people can't afford to buy a electric scooter even the cheaper one's that start anywhere from 250 or 399 dollars. That's too much money for someone who can't afford it or is unwilling to buy it for whatever reason of their own.
      And bike thieves has soared up in so many cities as electric scooters users goes up whether rent or privately owned the theft of electric scooters will rise also. And this is probably the reason why most people are unwilling to spend lots of money on electric scooters to buy it just for some scumbag thief to steal it.
      So with that being said renting becomes more desirable as they don't have to worry about paying full upfront money. And theft their covered and insured and warrented if their scooter gets stolen by bike or scooter thief scumbag!

    • @uhafeez
      @uhafeez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikereimer1390 hey yea I was originally looking at just buying the Hiboy S2 Pro or Niu Kqi3 Pro but when I stumbled upon Unagi I just reaalllly fell in love with the design & portability for my commute to work. Rather than spending $990 on it, I figured getting the $55/month subscription to see how I like it would be a no brainer. Also since it’s getting cold out where I live, I’ll probs return it when it starts snowing & maybe start it back up in the spring, which is nice on my wallet for sure lol. Lastly, it comes with a full warranty & theft protection, so if something goes wrong or someone steals it I can get a replacement pretty easily (theft would require a deductible of course but still). I think I may end up buying a full price scooter after this (the fluid mosquito or uscooter gt sport look phenomenal) but getting an unagi as my first foray into stepping up from rideshare scooters could not have been a better choice! This thing is a beast hah

    I love commuting in my Phantom, there's sometimes great bike infrastructure that I can cruise on, but when there's not, I can easily push my way up to 40MPH to keep up with cars in traffic. All this power and versatility in a scooter that could be mistaken for a rental -- too many high-end scooters are way too ostentatious-looking for my liking, I don't want to draw attention to my ride.

    I got the Hiboy scooter (October 2023). It's my first scooter ever, so I was a little wobbly on it at first, but now I'm able to get to work faster than riding my heavy-as-hell Worksman cruiser bicycle (which kept getting flats!!! Even with tannus tire inserts! Sheesh.). I'm happy with the solid rubber tires of the scooter. My main worry now is how the scooter will handle the Phoenix heat next summer, and whether or not it will die if stored in a separate garage outside. It's kinda heavy to carry, so I hope I can leave it in the garage, instead of carrying it up 3 floors to my apartment (no elevators here >.>' ).

      @Acidlib ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MicahLowther yea, totally agree, part of me wanted something faster, but I can’t justify blowing more than a grand on a scooter when I only really have experience with dockless rentals. As for EUCs, I honestly lumped onewheels in with them, but I can see how the design is radically different from the standard euc, enough to put it in a different category.

    So I bought an E move Cruiser and the battery failed on day four. I rode it clean for 30 mile round trip daily commutes.The only thing I can think of is that I did hit some downhill slopes and I was able to attain faster speeds than what it normally goes. I also kept my finger on the throttle full blast so I can go as fast as possible. Could this be what burned out the battery? I have wondered that to the day since I returned the cruiser. However, I really loved Riding it . I have watched so many of these types of videos and nowhere does anyone warn you about not doing that. Nor do the companies. Maybe it should be common sense as I think about it now. Anybody have any input? Oh and by the way the people at volo motors were amazing. They gave me a refund for my money and accepted the cruiser back. I did have to pay a restocking fee which is no problem. But they were super accommodating and willing to help me get into any other e-vehicle that they had available. I do believe the product was quality and maybe I was just one of the few unlucky ones that got a bad battery. They were willing to replace it no problem. So I still want to buy one again. I am just not sure if it was me that did something wrong and maybe I should avoid doing those downhill blitz's from now on?

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Paul is right. I have an Unagi 500 in blue, and in crowded areas, it gets nothing but compliments or stares of intrigue, especially if I leave the power on so the rear light shows. Adults are just tall kids really, full of intrigue. Even if I don't fold it but instead wheel it around most people seem unoffended.
