    I'm loving my Perkins belt! So far I've only used it for watching LSU play football and it does a great job of holding a few beers an opener and hot sauce.

    The meticulous personal touches is incredible. Jaime creates jigs to align things up perfect. Regular builders dont care about all these tiny details. You guys build quality homes. 👌

    I install cabinets for a living and I use a jig to drill hardware whenever possible. True Position Tools, an American company, makes an excellent jig, well worth the price. We have three of them, and they've paid for themselves on jobs already. Repeatable, perfect offsets on all your hardware with NO SCREW UP POSSIBLE. You don't clamp it but you can if you want, but I just hand clamp it carefully and the way it's designed you cant really mess up if you've set it up correctly. Just my two cents.

    Y’all were the first building channel I ever subscribed to. Now I’m the owner of a floor and finish carpentry company with the help of these videos! Love to see the process as always brothers!

  • @straight_to_finish
    @straight_to_finish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty easy to make your own door knob/pull jig. Take a scrap piece of 3/8” plywood or solid wood and attach two (1” thick strips) to two sides (meeting in the corner). The strips overhang each side and allow you to flip the jig over for left and right hand templating. When you’re done with the current job, apply tape over the holes and reuse for the next project to avoid drilling the wrong holes. IMO, there’s room for error marking with the square every time (I’ve done it!). The jig also protects the cabinet face while drilling.

I am the second youngest at 57 and have retired to a full time bookeeping job from home. You guys seem to be doing it right with your crew all the while providing us with lots of entertainment on the side. Great work Guys,
    I’m a custom home builder in sw Florida, one of the things we do is put blocking in all of the standard locations for towel bars, hooks, TP dispenser and even mirrors. The small amount of extra time adding blocking more then makes up for the frustration and time spent using anchors.

    • @mikel9567

  • @50sKid
    @50sKid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You don't have to clamp the jig on the cabinets, it has stops on the top and sides so you just put it on the cabinet door/drawer face and drill. It actually is quicker and better.

    Speed isn't the only reason for the use of jig, it also alien's ever handle to the same space / spot. Years ago when I built cabinets, we would build them a jig (one for shelves and one for drawers) and they just need to hold the jig into place and drill.

    I made a jig for door handles decades ago. No clamping required. Just hold it to the door and drill. I made it out of sheetmetal. Two pieces with a fold on two edges. Spot riveted them together. If the hole spacing is different, I cover each side with tape and drill new holes. In the time it took you to mark two holes I could have drilled two holes and have the screws started.

    At 3:44, this reminded me of the tip my grandfather gave me (he was a finish carpenter for nearly 45 years). As you move down on the cabinet, the handle should move slightly higher on the drawer front so when looking down, the handles APPEAR to be centered. With the handles being actually centered in that shot, you can see how the lowest drawer handle LOOKs to not be centered on the drawer front.
