- We held the first ever Dust Bowl 500 here at the CarsandCameras Motorplex! The goal: 20 laps around our backyard dirt oval short course on 212cc stage 1 yard karts. We started with three 10 lap heat races to determine who would race in the final. It's between Red Beard's Garage, Junkyard Digs, Rather B Welding, Vasily Builds, Tyranis Customs, Build Break Repeat, and of course, CarsandCameras. Who will win the great American yard kart race?

Look on Facebook market place my dude, people practically give old frames away and you can get an engine at harbor freight for just under 100 bucks.😁😁
Learn how to weld it’s easy I’m learning right now. go to your local junkyard and there will be engines, wheels steering etec. You can also use wood frames.
Go power sports should have a race like this and invite all youtubers who could build a nice yard kart

The 2021 Confusion 500!
Loved the whole weekend session of racing! It was awesome to watch your videos and the other guy's channels, too.
Here's a few items that might make the 500 run smoother or lessen confusion;
1) A large lap board that is easily seen by the racers. Raised mini-billboard? A Large "sandwich board" with numbers? A large easel pad with pre-drawn lap numbers?
2) Obviously, standard flags at start/finish. Not sure if there is a practical reason for the start/finish flagger stand always being on the outside of the track. Maybe it's easier to see while racing.
3) Caution flaggers in corners, so racers are aware when the track is under yellow no matter where they are on the track.
With the "all-over-the-farm-race", a lapboard would work. I'm not sure if you'd want enough people to assist at various places along the course to provide "sectional cautions" when there's a wreck.
At this level of racing, motor size (CC) and gross weight play a big part in how competitive a racer is. A 212 on a yard cart is fine for a 140lb guy but ain't gonna cut it with a 240lb guy. Maybe an lb/CC max-min window would give the racers a better idea as to what performance they need to compete.

Just found this today and all I can say is AWESOME!! I can see this evolving into quite a bit of a series. The sanctioned kart scene sux. THIS is so old school, "run what ya brung", kinda racing. Love it!! I can see some banked turns, pit area, and a small grandstand in the future. Just limit the HP or cubes and let everything else find its place.

Make everyone find a dirt bike engine that’s under 100cc, and make them into shifter karts
50cc to 80cc 2 stroke up to 150cc 4 stroke main class mini Would be under 50cc open something like 150-300cc limit whit could be like score class rules but watered down and mixed with classic mx displacement rules i think your onto something there tho dust bowl eunduro

that was the "backyard 500" from the other day. they didnt take out stuff like the cross kart because stuff like that is just too big to race in the areas where they were

I think you should combine your tracks for one huge race. I love watching you guys go flying through the forest and across the creek; and down those straight trails to get the most speed.

Love the way you came up with for watering the track. You need to do the same with two more. Once you have the track wet, get everyone out to run non competitive laps to pack down the track. That is how we did it for cars or cart racing.

Awesome video! Lol I rolled (my daughters) go kart for the first time on the 4th of July a bit sore still and have a nice muffler burn on my arm to show for it. I’m working on a stage 3 build to get a bit more power out of it.
