I don't think he will have the opportunity of brining any players in at Sunderland, that will not be his job. Speakman pulls the strings hence why Mowbray was pushed. Sunderland will never overspend again, ever! They looked down at the void at some point, brought in a new model and now they are doing extremely well and stable. Big club, big fan base! Beale will be head coach alongside Dodds who is also coach. That's all it is. Sunderland are not ready for the Premiership, but when they are they will be a force and financially stable. Good luck to them!

I dont see Beale as any better or any worse than Mowbray
the only reason I see for this
    change can be is that
the Sunderland owner simply wants a yes man as manager someone that is happy to have is strings pulled in that ever direction the owner wants to go with his club policy's.
Just as well Brian Clough is not Sunderland manager he would be out the door A.S.A.P because one thing Cloughy was not was a yes man a puppet on a string unlike

From Scotland here and the Facts are Celtic fans were singing the wanting Beale to stay at Rangers tells u all there u want to know re Beale ..Celtic as we all know are though the biggest club in Scotland and being Champions in the last 12 yrs
from 13 yrs tells all who are the top side there . Anyhow as for Sunderland below
Sunderland should have thought higher in their process and for me its board there need sacked .
Just how many Managers have they went through in th past 10 yrs ? Not all Managers are to blame
but the board are i reckon . Sunderland should be aiming higher .
As for Tony Mowbray he has i feel had raw deal and Beale is a step down not up i feel although time shall tell and normally
when a new Manger comes in the door u tend to see team getting some fair results as players want be seen doing well keep their places in team ..But after 3 months or so shall tell .

Well Simon is right .about loyalty. Michael Beale should have focussed on the gift he was given at QPR and built something .. Graham Potter was going so well at but Brighton did better without him Luton's had a little welshman ?? who did not appreciate the special job he had .. BUT I am a Sunderland fan nobody here is saying great appointment we are all kind of worried... But we have no say .. MB will not be the one choosing his own players he is head coach.. BUT there are good players here at Sunderland.. You can't bluff man management skills so he inherited something Tony had and that was great team spirit , but the players recruited all have great values and a work ethic. So let's see if Michael B can build a great dressing room.. I'ts difficult we bought 3 strikers in summer who are not getting any game time.. at this stage lost 1 won 1

Jordan is a great character but like a lot of owners, thinks he knows more about football than he does
Beale is not proven yet but everyone in the game knows now and knew a while back that he was a top coach and potentially a top manager
And Mowbray….put some respect on the man’s name. He just outperformed every manager in the Championship pound for pound in his 18 months at Sunderland in very difficult circumstances, winning over a fan base that didn’t want him, adding 10s of millions of value to young players through great coaching and mentorship and playing the most exciting football Sunderland fans have seen in 20 years or more
Simon you’re selling clicks and prospering….very good at it too…but football matters are far from your strong suit

Tbf a lot of the players that worked under him at Rangers, Villa etc said he was an amazing coach. However, this doesn't necessarily translate in to being a good manager- where you have to man manage, motivate your players, keep everyone happy, change tactics in game etc.
To me it seems like Beale is a very good number two, but perhaps not management material. I'm a Rangers fan so I seen a lot of him when he was at us. He worked very well alongside Gerrard cos Gerrard demands respect and is a far better man manager/motivator. I don't think these things are qualities that he really has.

@@georgianwindow Tony Mowbray wasn't very good when he was up here in Scotland tbh, though this was a while ago. Simon's view is that these coaches are all non-entities until some clever owner smiles on them and 'gives' them a job. How about Michael Beale built up a reputation for himself in football thanks to years of good work and 'earns' himself the opportunity. QPR weren't alone when they were interested in him, he was on the radar of quite a few clubs. Loyalty doesn't come into it. Managers take the bigger jobs, owners sack them at the first sign of trouble. Today Schumacher joined Stoke from Plymouth, Cooper got the sack at Notts F. As for the 'bluffer' comment, it takes one to know one

  • @kernowchris

Same thing happened to us at Plymouth yesterday. Argyle gave Steven Schumacher a lot of support to launch his career as a Manager.
