To cancel the beeping noise when returning home I would think it'd be the same as the Mavic 2"s, you click the power button on the remote once it starts returning, not the home button. Please let me know if you try it. Thanks, I always watch your videos as they are so well done and informative.
Hi Justin, I have a theory on how to get the drone to land bang on the H in RTH. I don't know if you notice but when you took off the drone moved slightly then said the home oint has been updated. That's point is the same spot where the drone landed so I would suggest moving the drone slightly off the H so when it takes off and moves hopefully over the H it will map that down as the home point. Again it's only a theory. Happy holidays pal

Aloha my friend. Btw. I’m an arborists and climber if ya ever need a recovery. I stay in Kihei but work in kula mostly.
Dustin, it doesn't matter that people are telling you (15:09) that tapping the RTH will stop the beeping but keep coming home because those people apparently haven't read the Mavic Mini User Manual which states on p. 13, "The user can cancel RTH by pressing the RTH button on the remote controller."
Try precision landing after being exactly over landing pad after 30 ft in air. Use camera pointing down. Works for my Air. Also, Air has a switch to pick precision landing.
Really appreciate your videos as they are very informative. Sort of chapter 2 versus other reviews. As we have now concluded, unfortunately the Mavic Mini does not have a “follow me “ mode. Incredible to think such a fantastic drone is short of this feature. That said, I am very curious to see how simple or difficult it would be for you, a person with lots of drone experience, to follow say a jogger, or a cyclist or a skateboarder in action or even a motorcyclist / car with the drone. Is it possible that this Mavic mini is so easy to use that any of the tasks would be simple with excellent results ??? My main attraction to this drone is definitely the quality 3 axis gimbal video, folding compact size, simplicity and all under 249 grams so to avoid any FAA permits. Look forward to your conclusions. Thanks.
Great tutorials Dustin, Thanks. I'm waiting for delivery of a dji mini in a couple of days. Can you explain more about return to home - and how to set that so my drone doesn't fly away - as I read about.
Leave the settings default for now and test it from 100 feet or more. Only reason it wouldn't return is if wind is too strong, crashes into something is in front of it or runs out of power. I've never has an issue otherwise 🍻
Hey Dustin Dunnill, caught your videos while researching what camera drone to get. One thing that did come to light is that the camera actually tracked you while performing the dronie manoeuvre which suggests that the active track is just a software omission to make you buy a more expensive drone, what do you think?
The lack of good tracking while moving is a bit disappointing. Moving on a bike, say on a trail, and having the drone follow seems like an easy enough request.
As always great videos dustin, I'm sure tracking function will appear on the dji litchi app when they have it ready for the mini as well as way points etc.esp if dji don't update the firmware to include them.

I’m really surprised that most reviewers of this drone designed for first time drone owners, expect the mini to be as good as the mavic2 ? It baffles me??
It's already amazing for what it is but the standard active track would just make it phenomenal. I'm sure many others would agree and this function not being enabled (which would be very easy in software) is a the one main reason people will not buy it as far as what my review series comments tell me.
@@countryboymotovlogs926 I thought it was related to DJI in a way limiting the drone as too keep the more expensive drones they offer a bit more appealing.
I don't believe this was necessarily designed for first timers given the target weight, I have been building and flying drones for 6-7 years. I bought this for it's compact size because I do a lot of activities that means I can't take the Mavic 2 with me, it's to big. I can take the mini, having active track on it would be amazing for me.
Very, very curious if CAVU ( Android VR app for DJI drones ) will work with the Mini? Any chance you can give it a quick try? Know you would need a longer cable w correct ends so understand if you don't have that cable laying around but you could still just hold it outright using a short cable and boot the app to see if it starts up.. Thanks :)
@@DustinDunnill wow, figured you were familiar with it. It works great, used the heck out of it for over a year w my mavic pro. Tons of footage on my channel using it :)

Hi, I was wondering how you take care of your mavic mini batteries and what you would suggest doing with them for storage even if it's just for a short time like overnight or 2 days I know for 10 days You're supposed to keep the battery at around 40 to 60%.
I saw a video, to point the camera towards the ground, when landing from RTH. It will automatically level again, just before landing. Seems to pick up the landing pad better.

@@DustinDunnill wow can't wait for review! I dont have drone yet but still saving n love your range test footage n your country looks like total paradise true.
I'm new to DJi drones as of yesterday. Im a freestyle/race pilot mostly. So I have to ask, can this drones software be updated? Surely there can be more quickshot presets added through those updates and also a proper follow mode, if it already has some type of basic object tracking.
I read that upon take off the drone has to be under 250 grams to not register, so if the Mini weights over 249 grams with battery and sims it has t be registered.
I’m not sure Dustin but I don’t think you’re supposed to move on those quick shots I’m not 100% sure but maybe it just can’t do that and move. And just for giggles time to update to the Skydio 2.
It looked like once it was in low hover it had already moved over a foot then it set the home point. What if once it is in hover you re align it directly centered then set a home point.
Dustin flying Mini over water seems to be taking down or deaking out more than its fair share of birds. Have you found this or known any glitch that might be occurring? Sensors switching off, sensors faked out by white surf or reflection from water perhaps? DJI very quiet on this issue for whatever reason... 🤔
Yes it wanders over water. Some say to black tape over bottom sensors works. I took it to Oregon and almost dunked it in the river from the issue 😂🤦♂️🍻
@@DustinDunnill Ouch, interesting. I hunch corporate minions went with elcheapo sensors to keep price tag, and profit levels agreeable. Dustin very interesting tip from other channel! Pertains to you sir! When pushing range limits to the fringe and you lose video DO NOT TURN THE DRONE 180 degrees. Heard this before? Reason is when you turn perpendicular your antennas drop signal long enough for your bird to fly away on you in weak signal strength doesn't sound illogical? The solution is dead simple. Back up, (never turn around) putting you back in signal lock ASAP, then! You can turn any quadcopter around safely and return home up one bird. Nifty huh? Not sure you heard this but you seem range driven so I thought your listeners would really appreciate this valuable contingency for range nerds🤭 Re sensor issue I'm wondering if DJI might have a recall on their hands they are soft pedalling to avoid🤔?

I still need to finish the ZINO PRO review 🙂
I’m really surprised that most reviewers of this drone designed for first time drone owners, expect the mini to be as good as the mavic2 ? It baffles me??
It's already amazing for what it is but the standard active track would just make it phenomenal. I'm sure many others would agree and this function not being enabled (which would be very easy in software) is a the one main reason people will not buy it as far as what my review series comments tell me.
Dustin Dunnill I’m sure we have not seen the last of firmware updates, to fix bugs, more settings for the camera etc.
Can you strap the mavic mini to a helmet and do a cycling/fpv test? I want to try using this as a makeshift go pro/convenient drone cam.
Great idea 😅👍
@@DustinDunnill someone already did a vlogging with a drone video but no one has done a strap a drone to a helmet video. Extra views/content
Thanks :)
First time I've heard of the app. I'll give it a try 👍
@@DustinDunnill wow, figured you were familiar with it. It works great, used the heck out of it for over a year w my mavic pro. Tons of footage on my channel using it :)
i still learning and learning alot from you thank you so much
+1 Dustin great video. I would propose you also check out other apps for controlling the drone that have follow modes
For the mini? Which ones are those friend?
Man, this drone is SOOOO tempting! The only reason I don't have one yet is that I'm afraid I couldn't fly it anywhere due to the stupidly bureaucratic laws here in Hungary.
what laws bro xd got a link? im gonna get one soon and living in budapest
New European law this summer...it's reasonable
You definitely need a mini wind sock for your helipad, itll also help with wind direction sensing :P
Hi, I was wondering how you take care of your mavic mini batteries and what you would suggest doing with them for storage even if it's just for a short time like overnight or 2 days I know for 10 days You're supposed to keep the battery at around 40 to 60%.
hey Dustin, what drone do you think is comparable with the new Skydio 2 in active tracking and following for sports?
Did this feature ever get ironed out? Looking at getting it now that it’s a “previous” model
Not from DJI. You can try (at your own risk of voiding warranty) some after market software for tracking and waypoint flight 🍻
I never used the landing pad when returning to home. My 720 is pretty accurate with the landing pad though.
I saw a video, to point the camera towards the ground, when landing from RTH. It will automatically level again, just before landing. Seems to pick up the landing pad better.
Wet informative man, thanks. I have to say I was getting a bit ‘dizzy’ watching this on my iPhone w your 3 views going on one screen fyi
Will you ever do a giveaway for the mavic mini.? Been watching a lot of your videos. They’re awesome man !
I’ve loved your videos for a while and now I’m doing my own drone videos and pictures on instagram
Nice video, where are you located? Looks awesome.
Good videos ... thanks
Merry christmas !!
Can we easily take off and land the mavic mini without launching pad ?
dope vid brother. 🙏🏽
well, now I consider buying one of these:
DJI Mavic Mini OR Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE
what do you really think? :/ I saw all of your videos, but I really can't make my mind.
the overall winner from your point of view in all aspects (Range, Video Quality and Flight Time)?
I appreciate your videos. May I ask what you are using for a hat cam
Please see my gear in description under video 👌
Merry Xmas Dustin n have you seen the latest drone on the net! It's called the v-copt falcon drone . They claiming a range of 7km 4k 3 axis gimbel n a remarkable 50min flight Time n it only has t w o wings which has enabled the drone to carry a huge battery. Check it out n c what you thing bro
Same to you. Yes I have one coming for review. Looks pretty interesting 👌
@@DustinDunnill wow!! I really need to see a Review from you of that V Copter Falcón! I need to see a range test of that Copter!!
@@DustinDunnill wow can't wait for review! I dont have drone yet but still saving n love your range test footage n your country looks like total paradise true.
Does the drone automatically fly home if the remote dies? Or loses connection? I’m one tap away from buying this.
Yes it does
I'm new to DJi drones as of yesterday. Im a freestyle/race pilot mostly. So I have to ask, can this drones software be updated? Surely there can be more quickshot presets added through those updates and also a proper follow mode, if it already has some type of basic object tracking.
Yes it can, but it's up to what DJI wants to open up.
I read that upon take off the drone has to be under 250 grams to not register, so if the Mini weights over 249 grams with battery and sims it has t be registered.
can you do the flight review of mavic pro again. kinda back from the past like
Ah Question answered! LOL. Still a great drone and a great review! just bought it! Thanks Again!
Merry Christmas
I’m not sure Dustin but I don’t think you’re supposed to move on those quick shots I’m not 100% sure but maybe it just can’t do that and move. And just for giggles time to update to the Skydio 2.
It does much better of you don't move but this video was to test if you do as mentioned. SKYDIO 2 review is coming.
Dustin Dunnill thanks Dustin.
It looked like once it was in low hover it had already moved over a foot then it set the home point. What if once it is in hover you re align it directly centered then set a home point.
Peter James it had only moved upward
Dustin when I return to home my drone it just lands where ever it is. How do I get it to come back? I have 17 GPS signals.
Try Long-pressing the H button on the controller instead of the land button on your phone’s screen.
Nifty huh? Not sure you heard this but you seem range driven so I thought your listeners would really appreciate this valuable contingency for range nerds🤭
Re sensor issue I'm wondering if DJI might have a recall on their hands they are soft pedalling to avoid🤔?
Once these drones are in return to home mode the signal doesn't matter. It's in it's own autonomy to fly back unless pilot intervenes.
@@DustinDunnill Does it retain 'home' location from set up orientation? 🤔
From lift off point
I really enjoy every single video of yours. You do fantastic holistic reviews. I do learn a lot from your videos. Ur videos r like tutorials com reviews. :) You r second to none on youtube in terms of your review quality Big Bro..! I m going to start my review channel soon. love your videos dude. i hva the mavic mini and am struggling to upload my 2.7k footage to youtube or instagram. I dont have premiere pro. any advice? how do you do it? keep up the good work
tom bishop Mrry Christmas! If you have iOS you could download an app called Videoleap and you can compress your video from a range of 360p to 4K. Happy holidays
Hello? How about on android?
Do you need the landing pad to fix the home point?
No
This guy is obsessed with his landing pad, don’t think it matters 1-2ft off jk thanks for the video. Thinking about purchasing this so enjoyed your thoughts on what this can do
So, do you think they will add some features in the near future?
Maybe raw photos also?
Hope so
