    I've had this lens for 10 years. It's an incredible piece of equipment.

    I had this lens before buying my R6M2. I packed it along with a bunch of gear for an event just experimenting with my new camera. I used it inside at a dog obedience class and it worked well… not as well as the 70-200 2.8, but I was not disappointed with the images. The only drawback was weight but, it’s a better lens than I gave it credit for. Great video, Thanks!

    Crazy I stumbled across your video. I have the S5 II and the S5 IIX with the Panasonic 70-300 and this thing floats handheld. I also adapt the Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 to the S5 II also the handheld is just as stable even at 200mm

    Super Video!!! I love the EF70-300L IS USM...I have owned and later sold it several times. (changing glass on and off)...But I am about to buy another one for an RP setup that I am rebuilding for street use ( I am a retired American living in Bangkok) I also shoot M43 as well...I do use some RF lenses. but prefer using EF and LM glass for multi brand setups.
    tho my M43 gear is already compact and cheap enough)... Cheers

    I love this lens, I got it for 439 shipped on ebay, it had a little rubbing on the front glass coating but no effect on photos.. it's great for outside events, that 300mm reach is amazing and makes great compressed photos (pulling background into foreground effect). I've used it on r6, 6d, 1d mkiv and also adapted to sony. on sony adapted, it didn't seem quite as tacks sharp on shorter focal lengths but it is great on Canon bodies. I ordered a lens hood from amazon.. it fits REALLY tight but works great. I also bought a tripod collar from ebay for cheap and it's great to carry the rig around (tripod mount positioned to the top) and you should get one if you have this lens!

    I find (for low light) the EF100 F2.0 supplements the EF70-300L 4-5.6 quite well and easily fits in the bag. (Its a cool old school lens that is getting harder to find on the used market.)

      The 100mm f2 has been on my watch list.

    It seems to be such an amazing lens for motorsport photography (extra 100mm reach in comparison to the popular 70-200 lenses can make a world difference when taking shots of a drifting car from a distance), but my issue with those type of lenses is always the fact that they don't have any sort of AF distance limiter. So if for example I'm standing behind a fence the lens will most likely try and focus on it instead of the car or any sort of action happening on the track.

    I have a much older Sigma 18-300 f3.5-5.6 that I stuck onto my R7 on my Cuba trip, and i can attest to the versatility of this focal range. But, i do notice the AF searches a lot at the 300mm end so i'm wondering if this Canon lens would work better. I'm eyeing a used one right now, along with an R6mkii.

    hey i shoot aviation photography I'm getting this lens with a crop sensor canon eos 7d what do you think and I mean air shows so they'll be quite far away what do you think?

    • @khanceptbelal
      @khanceptbelal  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never done air shows before. But if I were to try and capture things in flight, whether birds or planes, key thing I'd keep for consideration is a sturdy tripod and fluid head.

    • @HeadlessChickenTO
      @HeadlessChickenTO 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't shoot aviation, but I do (when I have the time to) birds in flight. My older Sigma 17-300 leaves me wanting, if I can get in focus shots, in terms of reach on my R7. Depending on how close to the action you can get and how much of the frame you want to fill, you'll want 400-600mm worth of reach.

    Any concerns with the front section pumping in and out while zooming? thanks

    • @khanceptbelal
      @khanceptbelal  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only concern is zoom creep if you point the lens downward. And the reverse if you pointed directly upward.

    Hi super helpful video. I just bought a canon eos kiss x7 Japan version for personal use in kids sports games. Is this lens compatible with this camera? I am not a pro by any means. Thanks

    I have canon r8 which doesn’t have IS for still photos only for videos and I’m thinking of buying ef lenses 70-200 L that comes with IS. Of course using the adapter ef to rf .
    My question would the r8 with 70-200L lens work good using the image stabilization on the lenses, would the communication be good between the camera and the lens to get rid off the shaking?
    Tnx. Salam

    Hold up….. so I cant increase the f value any higher than f5.6? Or I can go even higher than that?

    • @khanceptbelal
      @khanceptbelal  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At 300mm f5.6 is the widest aperture. At 70mm its f4 at its widest

    “ii” means 70-300 f/4-5.6 is ii usm
    “L” means 70-300L f/4-5.6 is usm
    For people deciding between the 70-300 ii is usm and L, here are a little bit of deciding factors:
    purchasing the L lens (used) is a similar price and sometimes it is +100-200 dollars more than the getting the 70-300 ii is usm (new).
    If you want the absolute best, get the L.
    If you want a lens the weights less, get the ii.
    If you want a lens that stays open for longer, get the 70-300L (when you zoom in it takes a longer time for the aperture to stop down)

    I use the plain Jane 70-300mm Canon and it's great -- but not L great.

    Would a 70-200 f2.8 a better choice? An f5.6 is quite a dealbreaker, 100mm wouldn't really suffice the trade off.

    • @khanceptbelal
      @khanceptbelal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on your location, the camera that you're mounting it on, and shooting style. I found 200 mm wasn't enough reach in the spaces that I was in. If I'm on crop sensor then 200 mm is just fine and an f 2.8 is going to be a requirement. But on full frame (regardless of brand), ISO 6400 is a non-issue. When I'm in a relatively large space, the extra 100mm makes all the difference for me, coupled with the fact that this thing is the same size as many 70-200mm lenses, and the IS is excellent. I do, however, pack a prime 50mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 in the event that I need a slightly wider angle or brighter aperture. I am however considering purchasing an old vintage 300mm f2.8 - not necessarily for the brighter aperture but, for some of those telephoto portrait shots.

    You should put a correction for the part where you suggested EF cameras as better investments multiple times, at least in the description. That was so confusing, some newbies might not realize you meant EF lenses rather than bodies. Otherwise good video.
