Dude these are the absolute best kind of repairs. I love when you can just inject voltage with a thermal cam, use some ipa and find the fault. Fantastic job. Good video!
Man.. I'm jealous of your diagnostic capabilities. You make everything look so easy with that thermal camera and knowing which component to pull off in 1 hit.
Just had the same problem, Xbox not powering on, watched your video, removed the same capacitor, but didn't replace it, Xbox now works fine,, thanks very much for your video
Great video. Loved seeing someone else use the ol I'm just gonna put my finger on it to see if it's hot method. You've inspired me to buy a cheap Xbox and attempt to fix it.
Great video 📹 👍 congrats on 50k so glad to help get you there mate 👍 😀 👏....so enjoy your videos 📹 😀 please keep them coming 🙏 👍 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 cheers buddy 😀 👍
@TheCod3r just wanted to say thanks for this, had exact same issue, no power, no 5v. Injected 3v on the 5v pad,. Havent taken the dive on a thermal cam yet but tried my luck with touch. Couldnt find a thing and was about to give up, when the underside of the board near the top usb slot felt warm, was pulling 3a @3v (my psu wont draw more than 1a at 1v need a better one) did an isopropyl test and found the C3F3 cap was burning up. Fiddly to remove due to proximity to socket but Kapton tape did its job. Replaced from a donor and presto, booting. Was then a bit of a faff as the drive was, maybe coincidentally? dying? Anyway had to try a few diff drives with fresh partition tables but eventually OSU1 took and Xbox was resurrected. Thank you for taking the time to make such clear videos.
Top quality fault finding and repair job again, Phil. I've not long done surgery on a PS4 Pro m/board with a fully lifted power supply cable socket that came clean off the board whilst gently trying to remove the cable. The PS4 is all back up and working flawless now but i love any excuse to break out my soldering gear and multimeter :)
Where are you touching to test 12v at 8:16? My board seems to be slightly different as I do not have a 5p0 test label. I did get 3.3v, 1.8v, 3.3v standby, and 5v readings near where you tested. I have not found the 12v and this is a no power no beeps XBox. The mosfets all show ~0.6
Nice going Phil 👌 I had the exact same fix a couple of months ago but it was the cap behind the side usb. So I'm thinking you nicked my idea on fixing it 😆 🤣
You're best to ask on discord for that mate because I don't really work on controllers, so I don't know enough to assist, but there's loads of people on discord who fix them every day
Following your video, I was not getting any current rail and I have located 3 components that burn with the hand in the left area u3c7 / d3c2 / u3d2 I do not know if you have ever found this fault, I do not know which of those is bad and if it will be enough to change them, any ideas?
Hi and thank you for your great videos. I have a similar problem where I also get no image. When I measure the gates of those MOSFETs like you did (diode mode with red on the ground) I get a reading of 820ohms, not volts. I have also realised that the three (starting from the right) smd caps above these MOSFETs have a short but none of them look bad. sadly I have no linear power supply or thermal camera. any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Very nice fix again Phil. I love to way you check and explain what your doing and why. I was wondering if you don't have a donerboard how will you know which caps to buy? What values etc. Keep up the great content always very nice to watch and yes the sound is even better now. 👍
I have a similar Xbox. IT turns own but I am not getting no visual. The hdmi port is not damage or have any debri. What do you think it can be? Are you open to me sending it to you to repair?
Filter cap shorting to ground seems rare but there it was. Nice fix and as you said removing it without replacement would be fine as there are plenty of others to pull noise off the power line.
Yeah it's very rare to have such a simple thing going wrong. If I'm honest I'd have probably just left it if I wasn't filming but I wanted to show how to do it 100% lol
Bro i have a nintendo switch for sale if youre intrested. my grandkids keep playing with the charger plugged in and keep loosening the usb port. thats litraly only thing wrong with it. Do you buy these?
@@TheCod3r weird i thought i replied to this. i want 15 quid but the right side controller is missing. it just has the left side. Theres also a docking station for TV
For this I charged my minimum bench fee of £40 mate. It depends though and varies between £40-£60 depending on the exact cause as no 2 consoles are exactly the same to be honest
Sunday weather in the uk has been beautiful today and now your giving me dirty flashbacks with an xbox one do you know what happened to mine it bricked...I tried in vain to get it fixed but alas i traded it in for an xbox one S and the download time for games was still shocking!!🤨
@@HikerBiker0 it would if you don't control your airflow properly yeah, but that's why I use angled Nozzles and hold my hot air on very specific angles to prevent that from happening. That said, if it did happen (it has before) it's not going to hurt anything, it just makes a mess and you just replace the damaged cap
Mate I bet it cost alot ship a Xbox one s to you from USA 😭 not sure what you charge think my HDMI driver cheap out been freezing up alot lately have restart it now has no video did try out new paste on heat sink that thinking that was issue out of warranty 😭and still out work buy the brand new one
I dont know how people break their consoles i use mine for tons of years and never break, i still use my n64, snes or my gameboy advance sp, the 3ds and ds also but those are newer, my switch obviusly does not break couse it has 4 years and its mint, and i have used it thousands of hours, i think i treat very well my devices

Hey everyone. Thanks for watching. Hopefully this video has much better audio, I think the issues are finally fixed 🥳
Your issues will never be fixed!

Nice video, whats your background in electronics or are you self taught?
Awesome, much better. Great vid.
@@gainmaster1 I'm self taught mate, not got any formal training at all 😁
Awesome!
Congrats at 50k subs keep pushing bro 100k here you come

It's about time you worked on an OG, I'm always happy to see people repairing these.
Yep I do quite enjoy these. Nice and easy to disassemble and fun to work on
A miracle worker at work again.
I have to admit. That was awesome. That tiny cap was the whole problem. Needle in a haystack issue.
Very good job my friend 👍👏
hi Phil congrats on the 50k subs keep on grinding 💪

This was incredible, you are an inspiration fella
Fantastic. From South Africa. Blady marvelous. The help was the voltage rails. Please zoom in on the points of testing.
Yet another fantastic video Phil thanks mate
Man.. I'm jealous of your diagnostic capabilities. You make everything look so easy with that thermal camera and knowing which component to pull off in 1 hit.
Thanks mate. A lot of it comes down to just stopping for a second and slowing it down a little bit. A little common sense can go far sometimes lol
Good job. A real skill you have there!
In gods name, can't you let those XB1's just die ;) Great video fella.
Haha thanks mate
Old xbox ones are solid. Mines still working with no issues
Clever lad, well done. Very interesting video, too much for me to do, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing your analysis and process.🍷

That was awesome. I never cease to be amazed by size of modern components, even on the macro-cam I couldn’t see it !
