That might’ve been the stupidest decision Beth ever made if Morty actually died, Morty was the only thing making Rick stay in their family, I don’t think he ever truly cared for anyone more than Morty in that world.
Edit : I meant the only living person, he’s avenging Diane but Morty is one of the main reasons in earlier seasons that he stuck around them.

What makes rick giving his collar to morty even better was the fact that if rick was uncertain about this choice for a second, it would’ve messed up the syncing. As evident by the collars working, rick was completely certain he wanted to save morty instead of himself.

Ricks way of showing care is being honest. No matter how brutal the point is, he’ll say what needs to be said to make you a better person.

When you consider that he never actually had a Morty or summer or even adult beth of his "own", a lot of his behavior makes sense. Every version of the Smith family he's ever met belonged to a different Rick who had already bailed on them.
The Smith family were strangers to C-137 that had to grow on him over time, because in his own universe Beth was killed as a toddler along with his wife, this Rick never abandoned anyone, Rick prime killed everyone that meant anything to him before he even discovered portal travel

That was a different morty,his morty or summer was never born his daughter and wife was killed by Rick prime. He literally stole the place of Rick prime in Morty's life then they both stole the place of a different smith family(then the whole disease thing happened) then he went to another universe with morty and stole that morty and Rick's place,then he brought that alien that became one with the whole planet and took the entire smith family to a different universe where people say Parmesan as parmesian and took that smith family's place.
The fact that he was willing to float around for 2 hours then die just so he could save Morty shows how much he loved Morty
He wouldn't have floated in the abyss, the first time they disconnected time, Rick said that they only had 2 hours after which they would be gone, but the fact that Rick was ready to sacrifice himself at the same time surprises and warms the soul

The King Jellybean incident really struck me too close to home and Rick's immediate understanding of what happened, the way he got Morty out of that situation with such subtlety and then ended the fucker really warmed my heart.
Rick goes God mode for morty while the rest of the family treats him like shit.
The reason morty said "rick doesn't care about us" to summer was because he was trying to protect summer and keep her from putting herself in danger. Rick and morty both care about each other.

I’ve not watched the show the whole way through but honestly I really love how they’ve kinda made the whole thing a found family situation - rick is from on timeline, morty is from another, beth and summer from another, and even jerry from yet another. None of them are with their original family, and yet they still choose to stick by each other. It’s nice, even if it’s the most dysfunctional family I’ve ever seen in media 😅
Im suprised you didnt include a clip of the toxic episode. Toxic rick's weakness was the fact he genuinely cared about his morty. Meaning rick genuinely does care, but also sees his attachment to morty as toxic and something he hates about himself and seemingly denies.
Morty’s always thinking about the times that he doesn’t get what he wants from Rick. Little does he know that Rick has saved Morty one too many times and Morty just forgets about it all.
Remember rick has gotten rid of a lot of morties bad memories, so it explains why he cant remember lots.

Without Morty Rick will become Rick Prime. In the beginning when Rick arrived at Rick primes home the original plan was to just wait for him to come back and kill him and not to get attached to anyone but Morty warmed up to him so much so he can't let him go.
The last clip is the real indication that he cares, there was no separate action where he leaves Marty to die and the time split

Think about it like this when has Rick ever said he could replace Morty but then every time someone messes up he always says that he can go to another timeline and get a new family but he never said he could replace Morty
But he doesn’t have to Morty knows he’s replaceable not only that, but he took the ticket to get a free Morty. Yeah, it was behind his Morty back, but he still took it.
It makes more semse when you realize who their real rick is and why he cared so little about deserting the first world because that family was the family of the man who took everything from him, i think it took time but even rick eventually grew to like morty

This is why I love our Rick Earth Dimension C1 0137. He pretends to not care but in reality he shows genuine care when the time calls for it
The reason is simple, he never had the chance to have a Morty. And the one who took his life and a semblance of a history, didn't want his.

In hindsight, now that season 7 is out, it's more touching when we find out Morty is Morty Prime.
Morty C-137 never existed because Rick Prime killed Beth as a child. This was the grandkid our Rick could have had but didn't. Despite this, he still loves Morty Prime like his own.

Rick only cares about Morty the most
This says a lot about Rick as a character. The fact that he cares this deeply about a Morty that's not even his, but his true nemesis's is quite telling. Remember, our Rick doesn't have a family since his Beth and Diane were killed in his youth.
And hes not just any morty either, hes the morty rick prime, the original c137 left behind, maybe he felt obligated to take care of something real.

Just remember, our rick didnt bail on his family, he was the only one that chosen to be with them, but they where taken from him
Rick put Morty above avenging his family. He was okay with dying as long as it was to save Morty. Rick has had great character development and as he's fallen apart to save his family, he becomes less and less human becoming more machine/inventor than a man. It's pretty interesting. After Froopyland, he's been missing the same arm but disguised it as a human arm. I love watching Rick upgrade his body after his shortcomings but becoming more empathetic as the seasons go on.

Rick bailed on his original Summer, but he would never bail on Our Summer. When Rick develops a bond with someone, he won't leave them behind, because he no longer sees them as a replacement in an assembly line, Rick sees them as individuals he can't afford to replace.
