Hi Denise. I noticed that you didn't go through the first peg twice, like in the original video. Is it because there are no purl stitches? I love the flat top but I've gotten so frustrated with it I just use your decreased video to close my hats. Can't wait to see to whole teddy bear video🤗
I just started using them - they are super cheap and work really well. I needed a cheaper option for my viewers. The other sharp scissors kept getting more and more expensive : amzn.to/2Ks4oEA
Hello, Denise. As always, good job. I have been closing using this procedure for sometime now ... but I would have such a mess so many times, i changed it a little to work for me. I now just tie my hat, doll, bear, whatever off. I then cut 2 pieces of yarn ... using 1 piece, I take off every other stitch ... using the other piece, I take off the remaining stitches. This works great for me every time ... no more tangled mess. I know I am more fumble fingered than you ... and thanks a lot for the idea. I agree with others ... You are definitely our best teacher.
You are amazing. I started out a year ago on looms by watching your videos. Your explanation and speed is perfect. Appreciate on the videos when the times are marked. Very helpful!!
Thank you for your cast off method...so pretty. I have been making the loomed hats for charity for a while now and have not been happy with my cast off/closure of the beanies. I can't wait to try your method.🤗
Thank you SO, SO MUCH for this video, Denise!!! It has made ALL the difference in how my hats close now!!! I don't have the "BUMPS" on the top that I was having a heck of time flattening out. You do so many wonderful videos for us out here in "Loomy Land" and I, for one, appreciate you more than you know. Take care and have a wonderful day filled with joy, love and sunshine in all that you do. Love and ((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))
This would work nicely for a people hat, too. Thanks, Denise! And I hope you don't mind me saying you have great hands -- the good Lord gave you a gift there.
Hey my name is this updated u still knit loom today rite I am so into crafts and I love that I’m learning how to knit now but I don’t really know exactly what I’m doing but I would love to talk with someone and ask questions if that’s OK I know I’ve been trying to find crochet friends online for the longest but you know I understand people are very frightened but anyway if you do just a say yes and then you can say and I am I am in can I leave you my email address OK thank you
I wish I could add a picture here. I had an odd numbered loom and this worked wonderfully! I have a pom pom that is going on top of this hat, but if I didn't this would be a beautiful end! Thank you!!
As usual another incredible video! I was watching (and not near a loom because usually I run for some scrap yarn and the loom you have in your hand) and I still remember the cast off! Thank you again for teaching us so well!
Do you have a recommendation for a hat with a brim that would look nice with this closing? I made my husband a hat but the closing was so poofy it didn't look right
Thanks for keeping this quick and to the point. Always learn something from your videos. I will be trying this on hats. Have you consider doing a pattern for Mother Bear?
I'm very much so a beginner like literally just a few days ago I got into this from doing crochet and hemp stuff so this is all new to me so don't laugh for my questions y'all but....can you use this for any kind of beanie you make..like with your other brimless slouchy beanie that is my very first project I'm trying to do and see how it turns out for me or does it have to be a regular beanie or with anything and how do I go about that just make the hat as normal per your other instructions and then just use this way to cast off when you have the length you want or what? Thank you so much for these videos even tho I know I'm late to the game but your channel is what I've been learning from ever since I got my loom!! Really appreciate these and are very easy to understand and not too fast at all but yet right to the point!
I tried this and wound up with a tangled mess and had to start over. Like, I had to make the whole hat over. :( I got confused about which row was inside and which row was outside and it was hard to tell the difference, and I wound up with a big knot. I saw in some other comments that they used a method with two strings and that you have an older video on that version, so I wonder if that would work better for me? I really want to learn to make the top flat.
I do this cast off in two steps, the first round like you do but for the second round I use a completely separate piece of yarn, this way I am closing the circles independently.
I have one question. If your using this bind off on a hat that’s using purls and knit should I add a row of e knit to do this bind off? I’ve done this bind off a few times and sometimes it works sometimes it gets stuck.
I will work best if you stay consistent with the version of the knit stitch you used on your project. So, if you used the email then yes stay with that version.
Actually what gets painful is the top of my hand, I believe it's called the superficial palm. At that point it's time to go for a walk or catch up on my Netflix watch list
Yeah, when I first started looming, I guess I went to far and did it non stop for 3 month, it’s very addictive and I loved it, now I have trigger thumb. I have been taking breaks trying to heal this darn thumb, lol, but now I’m doing it left handed, just trying to keep it loose. I love your videos, to me your the best at teaching and all your projects come out so nice. Thank you so much!
Hi Denise!! Thank u for this awesome detailed & close up & slow ( taking extra time ) video. I appreciate it very much. Can u do one like this to show doing the eyes & nose on ur dolls & cat? I just can not get them right. Also sewing the armors, tail wings ( especially the wings as mine came out horrible ). I love ur tutorials sooo very much & have made several of ur items. Btw u made my day by saying a bear is coming soon!!! I’ve been hoping for one. 😊 hugs, Donna
Denise, I understand how to make a brim but after I place the loops on the pegs it’s like pulling teeth to get the bottom loops over the tops and I don’t even wrap the yarn tightly. Pls help. I had to frog a hat because 2 loops wouldn’t budge. :(
Yea - that happens - You need to pull on the first ones to tighten those (sounds wrong but trust me) - Pulling on the first ones gives you more slack for the last few which are tight when you place them on - so the knit-off is almost impossible. Does that make sense?
Tried this but had an oopsy on the pulling the drawstring...had not wrapped enough...had used a 31 peg loom to make a hat & wanted a clean bind off...oops...well, I hadn’t loom knit in awhile so I’m reteaching myself
I understand Judy - the flower looking top looks really pretty for say hats but does not work well for the all projects. This one is more intended for the top of dolls or when you need a true flat top
I am so frustrated with this that I am about to throw out hours of work. The technique is brilliant. I am not a beginner, but it is far too advanced for me. Keep trying loomers. My next shot will be on a teeny tiny project like a teddy gear. No more hats for a loooooong time!
Hi Jena - the cast-off beautifully. Sorry that you had this issue on the first try. I would suggest a small and simple baby hat to test it again. Results are way way worth the extra effort.
@@LoomaHat maybe I did it too fast, I thought I was going slow but got 2 knots that would not come out. I ended up with 3 pieces of yarn at the top of the hat that would not budge and go through to be just one strand. :( I ended up cutting the 2 that were long and looped, feeding them through the inside and weaving them into the hat. I'm just giving it to my sister now.
Hi Denise. I noticed that you didn't go through the first peg twice, like in the original video. Is it because there are no purl stitches? I love the flat top but I've gotten so frustrated with it I just use your decreased video to close my hats. Can't wait to see to whole teddy bear video🤗
OH my, you are soooooooo right - I forgot to mention that. Yea - I find it works better when I don't.
Okay. Working on a hat now so I'll give it another shot. Thank you 🌻🌼
I tried your new cast-off and it came out so nice🤗. Also, where did you get those little scissors? They look very compact.
I just started using them - they are super cheap and work really well. I needed a cheaper option for my viewers. The other sharp scissors kept getting more and more expensive : amzn.to/2Ks4oEA
Thank you, Denise. I just ordered some.

Thank you so much for the feedback - I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much. I have learned so much from you. You are a great teacher!
Denise thank again for teaching us all a new way to make flat top on our beanies it looks awesome
Sherri - thank YOU for all the support !
Thank you for your cast off method...so pretty. I have been making the loomed hats for charity for a while now and have not been happy with my cast off/closure of the beanies. I can't wait to try your method.🤗
I’m using a 41 peg loom and the spacing doesn’t turn out the same (doing the every other peg first time around). Does that matter Denise?
Thank you SO, SO MUCH for this video, Denise!!! It has made ALL the difference in how my hats close now!!! I don't have the "BUMPS" on the top that I was having a heck of time flattening out. Funny you mention the hat! That's what I'm here for.
This is a very clever technique!
YOU ARE A WONDERFUL TEACHER, THANKS FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND MAKING THE TIME TO SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE ❤️
Elssy Thank YOU for the Thank you 😊
I've been using this since you showed us how to do it on the chick video. Thanks once again.
Beautiful! That method is perfect for anything. I love how even and flat it turns out. Way to go !
This is an amazing technique! Thank you for creating and sharing :)

Flat drawingstring hat technique is elegant ;beautifully and required thank you too much
Thank YOU Ezzat !!!
💐Thanks a lot for this great technique - so the top looks so much better.👍
I wish I could add a picture here. I had an odd numbered loom and this worked wonderfully! I have a pom pom that is going on top of this hat, but if I didn't this would be a beautiful end! Thank you!!

Awesome - if you retained it - you learned it. .... and hide the loom until you watch the whole video !
Thank you this was very helpful
I love this and your first one too cause it gives a nice beautiful l ook as well completely closes it up too
Very nice video, love how you explain everything, even the stretching of st's 😆. Smart woman 😉
I asked them and they rejected me :(
My loom is 41 pegs, an odd number. Anything to do different? Two next two each other at the end?

You are VERY welcome !

Hi. Is there a video for the star finish? I wanna learn that one and i cant find the video
Here is a link th-cam.com/video/WoizvzKpBBA/w-d-xo.html
How many row thank you xx
I do this cast off in two steps, the first round like you do but for the second round I use a completely separate piece of yarn, this way I am closing the circles independently.
That was my first modified version I did in 2016 - this will have the same effect with only 1 string
LoomaHat.com
I didn't see that modification video, but I find it so much easier. Great videos.
Will this work for the tiny kitten? The bottom never comes out flat for me.
Oh my gosh. I am so excited for your Teddy Bears. I love all your toys, they are so cute and popular.
Thank you Andy 😊
Can't wait to try the teddy bear. I'm working on your kitty cat but I'm doing it on a bigger loom so the cat will be bigger. Thanks for your videos!!
Thanks for the Thanks Denise ! I really appreciate it. Great name !
Can't wait to see the teddy bear pattern to come out.
Very Shortly - half way done !

Hi Denise.....can this be done with a hat also??
Hi Irene - Yep - it works GREAT for a hat !
LoomaHat.com I thought so....😉. Thanks...😊
Great Thanks a lot love it Lois
Very cool. Thanks so much for sharing, Denise, dose your thumb get real sore at times?

Hi Denise. Good video as always. Does this bind off work for a large hat?? I'm about to close a hat now. waiting for you answer. Thanks.
Hi Phyllis my friend- YES - this works for all sizes. Let me know how it goes.
Where can I show you pictures of the hats I've completed??
Hi Denise!! Thank u for this awesome detailed & close up & slow ( taking extra time ) video. I appreciate it very much. Can u do one like this to show doing the eyes & nose on ur dolls & cat? Donna - what are you using (yarn or floss) to make the eyes and nose?
Denise, I understand how to make a brim but after I place the loops on the pegs it’s like pulling teeth to get the bottom loops over the tops and I don’t even wrap the yarn tightly. Pls help. I had to frog a hat because 2 loops wouldn’t budge. :(

LoomaHat.com. Pull on the first ones without knitting over?
That's right- I will try to find a video clip where I can better show you what I mean.
LoomaHat.com thanks
Hey - is your name Jon or are you using Jon Campos profile - I'm going to do a quick vid for you - I don't want to call by the wrong name
Tried this but had an oopsy on the pulling the drawstring...had not wrapped enough...had used a 31 peg loom to make a hat & wanted a clean bind off...oops...well, I hadn’t loom knit in awhile so I’m reteaching myself
I gave it a try and I do not like as well as the older flat top cast off. It is actually easier but not as nice looking!
I understand Judy - the flower looking top looks really pretty for say hats but does not work well for the all projects. This one is more intended for the top of dolls or when you need a true flat top
HI MRS. DENISE THIS CATT LAST WEEK YOU WAS TALKING ABOUT UR NEW CHAT LINE I 'LL 2 HEAR WHAT'S GOING ON
Didn't give me a flat finish
Should make a unicorn 🦄 doll. I’m so excited that I found this cause I’m gonna try for my lil girl ☺️
Pls sell those, they are too cute.
LOL ... I'm thinking about it my friend ....
Hi Denise, can you please help me make a loom boob/breast. I am a Lactation consultant and I need a model to help mamas.
Hi Michelle - thank YOU sooooo much for thinking of me.. Scarlett Royal has a video for this th-cam.com/video/z8fbWVyiwWE/w-d-xo.html
This would be great for a hat to avoid that scrunched up look.
Absolutely - my friend !

Ugh, I ruined my hat trying to follow this ;/
Most likely you left a loop without the strand through it. It's a great technique and worth a second try. Practice on a baby hat.
Disaster.
?
well this method ruined a gorgeous hat I spent hours doing. Won't be using it again. :( So upset.
