I respect the idea that domey discs have their advantages, but they're so much harder if you have any off-axis torque which is even harder for me with mids. So I really like how flat MVP mids are.
hm hadn't thought much about that, what do you think OAT affects with the domey vs flat ones?
@@BodanzaDiscGolf More mass being high above the centerline of the disc, if you have at all a bad release you get more wobble than with a flatter disc. This is a completely anecdotal experience but I really have trouble throwing really domey discs like the river consistently compared to more moderate or flat discs. You seem to have a clearer release so it's not an issue.

Picked up a misprint from my local shop, and got one in thr mystery box. These things are MONEY! Absolutely nuts on a hyzer flip in a headwind. Honestly one of the best mids I've ever thrown.
I found an uninked Detour at the course last weekend and I'm pretty certain it's staying in the bag
Edit: I also bag a sunny Peach and can confirm, it's more straight than the detour and the plastic is excellent.

MVP are so precise as moulders that they have absolutely no problem stamping a disc three or even four times for some stamps. Truly they are the best molders out there. Amazing quality.
A thought shots u shank and end up cutting u could either make a blooper at the end of save them up for a blooper vid ... Personally I like the once in a while u add the bloopers at the end for the laughs

This is a very interesting analysis. I learned a forced turnover with an origin, i might have to get ny hands in a gyro box
As someone who loves MVP/Axiom so much I made a channel about it, I'm happy you enjoy these discs as much as you do. I think you should be a Gyronaut! Don't worry about the flatness of the disc. According to physics, and by physics i mean a video I saw about the extra weight around the rim, the disc takes longer to get up to high RPM vs a single mold disc (and generally has lower RPM in comparison), but spins longer. That means the gyro effect makes the disc more stable than its single-mold counterpart and kind of offsets the domey effect of softer turns and fades. So a Detour, which seems like a Mako3 or Buzz SS, will have the understable qualities but be a little more stable
When i throw the detour its like having a backhand forehand. it just turns the entire time but never burns. that is the flight i have wanted out of a mid range foreve

for me...detour=midnight prowl 1, echo=midnight prowl 2. MP1 is flatter like the detour. echo has slightly more dome like the MP2.
Got a misprint Detour off eBay. It's now my favorite mid. My Hexes have all been too OS, and my Origins are simply too long. Speaking of Echo, mine gets more throws than my current Hex.
I would still love to see a review of+comparison with the Streamline Echo of you can acquire one. Also I find it courious that you find the midnight prowl somewhat semi-stable (at least so that the -1, 1 fits), I find both the MP2 and normal Origin to be very similar and very understable (like -2,5 or -3 in turn) which makes them my ultra flippy late turning hyzerflip mid.
I think I just have pink one that’s closer to -1 1 but at high speeds they want to be truer to -2 1
I've got too many MVP midranges: Deflector, Runway, Reactor, Hex, Echo, Uplink, and Paradox 😅. I need some good weather so I can play them against each other and narrow down what I want to keep bagging (and I'm predominantly a forehander)

Uplink, Hex, and Pyro are indeed my mids at this point. Hex unseated my Reactor this year as my workhorse mid (underside of the disc is rounded more, feels better imo), and the Uplink has been a fun addition to my bag as my first understable mid ever.
I think MVP/Axiom should pick you up for the season…… just maybe

I dont get to try new discs that often. Too poor. I have never thrown an mvp disc, never even seen one. Got a few new discs on the holiday sales, haven't thrown much because i hibernate when its not hot outside. A new mid range i got that i think is going to make the bag is the Archive. Like i said only a few throws with it but ive been looking for something that flies similar to a Roc just more stable and more torque resistant and the few throws i got in that seems to be how it flies.
I bag a glow Kastaplast Svea in my flippy mid slot however it was a opto fuse that i had a ace with unfortunately i lost that beautiful disc (still sad af😢) but the Svea has a 99.9% similar flight as the fuse because it likes a little nose up on hyzer for dead straight shots and flat release for turnover shots.
I think the mvp detour would fit in the slot or maybe a tick more stable, if so it might replace the svea and that sweet fission hex with the swirly rim i got from you (probably not the hex lol).
It could cut my mids down to 2-3 in the bag course depending.
Also that looks like a pretty fun course!
Detour felt really good.
At sea level, I feel like my Detour flies super similar to my Dune. Both are great discs, but the Detour has definitely earned its place in my (mostly MVP family) bag.

Kastaplast K1 is the only plastic I can think of that feels as good as neutron.

I’m gradually losing my connection to you. Been following you’re journey since the beginning when you were showing the work you put in to fix your form, in order for us to see what works/how it works/work pays off. These more recent vids are like “I’ll just toss this detour 360 feet” etc. I’d be curious to find out the ratings/skill levels of your typical viewer. Probably safe to say that 90% of us can’t throw a 5 speed disc like that, but you kinda make us feel like we should be able to. That makes me feel less capable. I don’t think that is your intention, it’s just a new side of you I see. I’ll apologize for being blunt, just trying to condense this thought. Peace, brother, keep up the good work ✌️
thanks for sharing, and genuine question: what would you have me do to alleviate that feeling? I don't feel like I'm saying "you have to throw it like this", but more "this is how it flies at this distance".
I know there's a range of skill in the audience which is why I like to play courses fully so you get to see shots at tons of different distance and shapes.
A part of the process/how it works/work pays off is the paying off part and being excited about it! It seems like you're asking me not to throw shots some people wouldn't be capable of, where I know there are others who watch my vids who can out throw me with ease.
If you have some suggestions I'm all ears, honestly!

Honestly, there’s probably a little jealousy seeping out which is very unbecoming of me. You did clarify (several times) shots that high ams/pros could expect flights from and that not everyone would see it. You also added options to substitute for slower arms. Looks like my mood last night might have gotten the better of me, sorry. I’ve been working on my form for about 6 months and can’t seem to get over this current hump and it’s quite frustrating. It looks so effortless when you (and many others) send these discs. However, you have put in the work, probably more than most and are finally reaping the benefits. Keep doing you and keep up the good content.
