The gassing heads are secured to a post that ride on a cam. The first drop locates the gassing head onto the container creating a vacuum seal. The second drop pushes the desired amount of propellant into the container via the metering cylinder. The third drop crimps the valve to the canister.
Any idea how long the O-Rings on these last? I mean they must break down at some point for example a dust off head that clips on top and screws against the seal, it can actually be lifted up over time? I've been SOL with most of these (expensive too) no way to re-crimp evenly
At 0:53 you can see the gas filling machine simultaneously crimp the valve onto the can and fill it with gas. Every time one of the heads moves down it is filling the can with gas.
Most use what's called a condensable gas (like a refrigerant) meaning that it can be put in as liquid and then sealed up. If it were non-condensable (air for example) - the can wouldn't be thick enough to hold in the pressure
No, you generally do not smell the product unless something is wrong with the filler and they're cleaning it or after a run and it gets flushed out. And during a flush is usually whenever the place I work sends us to break so that the smell is gone when we get back. People who work in compaounding usually do have a mask on them but if you're a line worker or machine operator you don't really need it.
@@Red_Valkyrie03 I've always been curious about that. I live near the Renkit Benkeiser plant in Hillsborough NJ, where they manufacture Lysol aerosol spray. Or at least they used to. I don't know if they still do. I haven't been by there at night in a long time, but years ago, they used to vent the Lysol out into the air late at night and you could smell it from the road. I always wondered why they did that and if they were supposed to be doing that.
I wish this job was boring. What this video doesnt show is everything going wrong. The filler messes up and if you don't catch it you have tons of light weight cans getting rejected. Then you get to the hot tank and you always have the possibility of the can popping in the water and sometimes theres to es of floaters you've gotta pull out of the water. Things go wrong in the gas house all the time and the tank farm shuts down and ruins all production because you can sell aersol without gas. It can be a worry free day where nothing much happens but more often then not theres something hectic going on. I like to use my free time to write or draw, it's a great job for artistic people!
@@elthigh Yeah but still. The liguid shown there. Is not even 9 oz. I recycle aerosol cans. I reuse them. Like the glade ones. And those are 8oz. I load them with Windex, liquid dish soap or fabuloso. Now i am planing to load a bunch with A Broad spectrum virucidal, disinfectant. And sell them like 2 dollars a can.

Lol depends what's the product.. some require more propellant than liquid. Glass cleaners have a higher percentage of liquid.
