Thank you Dr Ashenden for defending the Catholic Church’s teaching precisely as Our Savior taught us all those centuries ago. Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, as she has promised, will eventually triumph. I feel that that time is now nigh. We must never doubt that evil will eventually be destroyed. In the meantime, let’s pray for the church as it goes through it’s passion just as Jesus did in His day. Hope springs eternally.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Thank you, Gavin. You have articulated and explained the thoughts and concerns of many, and you provide material for our use. Incidentally, I wonder if the “excluded” referred to in the document refers to those people persecuted, sacked and marginalised for upholding Christian beliefs on life, marriage, sin and the human person.
Great assessment of the "Instrumentum laboris" Dr Ashenden. Several nails hit cleanly on the head. It is the mechanism to apostasy, the result will be de facto schism. May the Almighty Hand of God intervene and rescue the faithful.
Dr Gavin, As always you are so refreshing to listen to and hear your deep wisdom.Time to stay strong.🙏We know that God is in charge regardless of these dark times. Its part of our Faith and journey. Blessing to you and yours.Gerri.☘️🙏
You Christians can't be taken seriously except for being fascists. The religious are ludicrous, avoided like the old women with too many cats. Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy. Nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital. Who sends their children to prophet trade-school? If there were a god, then would there be any demand for scripture interpretations by various podium-jockeys using fantasyland vocabulary? These are the religious, the wolves in sheep's clothing. Even Jesus says faith is worthless or you could order mountains to move about. The scam works with faith & prayers, suggesting we all should travel with one foot in their fantasyland. Theologians acquire grand titles without certification from a deity, & project certainty using fantasyland vocabulary in an academic setting to compensate for lack of reason. We really should address the social acceptance of large numbers of people speaking a fantasyland vocabulary & openly indulging in the deceit of religious belief as a tool of fascism. It was secular law & order ending the inquisitions & witch-killings. The Christians slapped their books on the Old Testament, & the Mormons glued theirs on to them both, thus proving Christians lack quality-control. As if God does not have a perfect record of doing nothing, as if we had no reason for the saying: God helps those helping themselves.
Dr Ashenden , thank you for your insight As a Catholic i am perplexed as to how we have come to this crossroads Having you as such an intelectual powerhouse , explaining and clarifying the perplexing gobeldygook of the document is a true blessing God grant you many more years of service and teaching. God bless you and your family
Dear Dr Ashenden Having returned to the Catholic Church in retreat from Anglican apostasy I wonder how to understand what is happening. I pray daily for all Christian churches. Thank you for interpreting this spiritually dry document devoid of hope for beleaguered Christians. We must pray for try holiness and sanctity to spring up among us and in ourselves.
Such intelligent replies in the comments gives me heart ❤️ people know what’s going on but suffer from potential ever darkening waters in the Church. Christ is separating the wheat from the chaff and we should be extremely thankful for this as so many saints are being produced.🙏 Thank you Gavin 😊
Love the Blessed Mother! Never, ever let go of her guiding hand that will lead us to Jesus. Pray the Rosary daily for her intentions. Love her by living in the Divine Will of her Son, Jesus.
Now, if there is still any lingering puzzlement in anyones mind at this point as to why young seminarians of a traditionalist bent are required to seek approval (and most likely receive rejection!) directly from these people, everything should now be utterly clear having watched Dr. Ashenden's excellent presentation. I think the only thing we can do at this sad stage of events in the life of our beloved Church is to double, triple our Prayers that the next Pope is thoroughly Christ centered. God help us.
Thank you Gavin - looking forward to the discussion to come on "Unscripted" - it is sad but the Lord knows what He is doing redemptively and He tells us : "Fear not, for I am with you." We must have on God's whole armour (Eph6) and stand and fight for the truth. We can do this in love. Those trapped in sexual perversion are being badly abandoned by Christian institutions in free-fall, declension and confusion. You are providing helpful commentary and critique to many.
Dear Dr. Ashenten, Thank you so for your astute and piercing analysis of that new document. In 1994 I converted from USA-Episcopal to Catholic. That was partly due to the untoward policies. And also due to their inability to tell where my recently deceased husband went when he died. Answers and other statements were so different from my 1963 Confirmation Class teachings. But kids weren't taught about death in the early '60's. I had been happy as a Catholic. But with the death of Pope Benedict, this current Pope is steamrolling his evil doctrines. In your gentle way, you strongly accused him of working to change the Catholic Church doctrines. You are terribly correct! This is not a good time in history for the Church. If I were younger, I know I'd be organizing, writing letters, being an activist against the intentions of the Pope. But I am 71 with some conditions necessitating my now living in Assisted Living. But I will communicate with our Bishop here in Syracuse, New York. And to begin with, I am going to attend the one GAFCON Anglican Church in Syracuse. I will go to our Catholic Cathedral for obligatory days. We have a deacon hold a service here late Saturdays. He brings the blessed host to us. And in our mall the is a Franciscan Catholic items shop that has a chapel in the back. They have confession, mass and adoration. I am not renouncing my Catholic faith or membership. But I am not going to give the Church my regular attendance so I can be counted as a Catholic. I am not going to support this Pope. I will not be silent, for that implies ascent. I strongly feel must make these moves against this evil Pope. And aside from letters and my lessened attendance at church, I can't think what else I can do. Maybe something will happen in the future that I can respond to in a new way. (I know not to take communion at a non-Catholic church.) I so admire your sharp intellectual shredding of the newest Papal encyclical. I will pray for you. You are a true warrior for Christ. Thank you for all you do. (I stand with you.) Anne Eloise, Syracuse NY, USA.
@@LoveGodAndAsHeLoved I have limited physical ability. This I live in assisted living. Your comment is cruel. If I could, I would. I am working on getting a type of transportation that can take me to a place or two a week. And if the mass is lead by a modernist ... I DO NOT WANT TO SUPPORT FRANCIS' AGENDA! Attendance numbers are documented. Money is all accounted for. Why should I let. myself be counted in an LGBTQ, etc. pariah's numbers report. Why should even a dollar of mine be accounted in their records? Until the American Psychiatric Society was infiltrated, homosexuality (and lesbianism) was diagnosed as a deviant sexual illness. That was removed in 1975. That year I was 24. I matured knowing that same sex attraction was an illness. When I converted to the Catholic Church in 1993, the Church was stable and preached right is right and wrong is wrong. In a little less than 30 years, that has all changed. And studies have shown that homosexuality is rife in seminaries. And if a priest isn't part of the daisy chain, the chances of his becoming a bishop is next to nill. St. Paul wrote that sexual sins are the worst. So the Catholic hierarchy is often practicing the sin that is worst in God's eyes. I CANNOT AND WILL NOT SUPPORT AN ORGANIZATION THAT PRACTICES THE WORST KIND OF SIN. And this Pope and his cohorts have been photographed bowing to and worshipping that Pachymana! The abomination has been brought into the temple I know those raised Catholic have had it drummed into them "go to mass." Not me. Right is right, wrong is wrong, corruption is corruption, and the worst kind of sin is the worst kind of sin. You go to mass, if you wish. I didn't sign on to this when I converted. My priest should be lots better and more holy than me. But the participation in this gay pride month thing is outrageous. I am appalled. Go to mass where rainbow flags hung? No. Simply put, no! Somebody has to object. And until I can be sure a priest isn't indulging in this sin, I don't want his hands near my body. Who knows what his hands have just been doing? One can even catch a disease if unwashed hands put something in a person's mouth. Certainly flu germs can travel that way. And at 71, I don't need a flu. So, you go to mass. At the moment God has put me in a situation where I can't. And that's a good thing, for the present time. Not forever. But for the present time. So, you go to mass.
I just love it when you are.....direct n to the point Gavin . Thank you - love n blessings from Sydney Australia. This is not to imply that that you should always, be direct and to the point - just that I really enjoy it when you are .
This terrifying (to me) explaining of what is going on makes clear to me why I have been so irritated by those terms "accompanying", "walking together" and so on. Thank you, Dr. Ashenden. Terrified I may be, at the thought of the storm that has been brewed by "wicked spirits prowling through the world for the ruin of souls" (prayer to St. Michael) but I am also reassured by the presence of the Holy Spirit in so many souls who have suffered and still suffer in the arduous task of keeping the temple of the Spirit fit for Him to dwell in. That apart, the Captain of the ship is Jesus Christ and no vicar has ever or will ever cause the ship to sink. We have had very bad vicars down the centuries.... But we, enlightened by such as you, Dr. Ashenden, will pray and act according to the true teaching of the true Church, and not be drowned in the alphabet soup currently fashionable.
Thank you, Dr. Ashenden for this very important and timely video. It must be said that any decisions that come forth from this synod, that go against Sacred Scripture and orthodox Catholic teaching will be illegitimate.
Thank you Dr Ashenden. For those of us who do not have years of learning on the teachings of the Church your words are so helpful giving depth to what our instincts and more limited knowledge is telling us. Leadership from our Bishops and Rome seems so poor and appears to be taking us in the same direction as the German Church.
Thank you Dr Ashenden for your cogent take on the real reason for the synods. I have my doubts that merely "listening and accompanying" a hardened criminal would, because someone took the time to listen to him, inspire that person to mend his ways
That was excellent. Thank you. In response to a claim made by his friend Holbrook Jackson that "A man is a ship: his religion a harbour. Few men sail the high seas," G K Chesterton responded, "No men do, except to find a harbour somewhere". The therapeutic pseudo psychological language being used in the IL is typical. It is the language of process and a heavy hint that man is evolving along with his religion. Whatever is decided during this talk fest is likely to be either heterodox or irrelevant. I cannot see how this whole procedure can do anything other than act as a solvent further damaging the Faith handed down and those who still adhere to it. Pax
Thanks for this stimulating talk, much food for thought and helping my/our struggle to comprehend Church, the world etc. Your example and encouragement to keep Jesus in His rightful place is great and wonderful
If you know scripture, then you must recognize that we are entering the passion. The church itself, will go through the passion just as Jesus Christ did , in order for it to be a purified bride. There will be a time that the sanctuary light will go out and that the church will have appeared to be gone. This is the eclipse of the church we have been told about. The true church can never be taken down so when these terrible things happen, 'do not let your hearts be troubled'. God IS the church abd it will rise again and dominate the earth through the power of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Hold on. Read your bible Get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Speak truth to lies with love. Keep faithful until the end and you will receive 'the Crown of Life'!
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind .. Love one Another .. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like unto it, Love thy neighbour as thyself. We are also told to Love your enemies, Bless them that curse you Do good to them that hate you and Pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you : that you may be the children of our Father in Heaven..
They had meetings in the parish where I live, but don't go for Sunday Mass. I didn't attend as they would just have been the usual big noises sounding off. Edited reports were sent to bishop for further editing, so that grass roots views never reach the listening synod. There's never a response from the bishop. I don't know anyone in the Catholic clergy that I can trust. All my life I looked forward to the time when I could get to daily Mass & rosary. And now there's nothing. In UK there is no reliable Catholic news. Keep us posted. Thank you for your witness & study of documents incomprehensible to most of us.
It is so refreshing to hear your views Dr Ashenden and so much truth. Thank you and God bless you 🙏🙏 What I would rather do instead of reading it is toss it in the garbage 😡
Moses listened, accompanied and walked with the Israelites in the desert: He changed the law on divorce as a result. Jesus, pointed out that Moses was mistaken and did this “because of the hardness of their hearts”. Thank you Dr Ashenden for pointing out that what we need is repentance rather than compromising the known truths.
it would be so wonderful if we had you leading the UK synod in reply to Francis..and a letter inviting Calvin Robinson and others to journey with us. FAT CHANCE!
When I was lost in life, confused, and wondering if there was any meaning to it all I didn’t want someone who “walked with me” and “met me where I was at”…. I wanted to know if there was something true to life and existence. I wanted to overcome my sinful ways that left me feeling more lost than ever (despite the momentary feeling of elation). This Church that just wants to walk with me would be of no help back prior to my reversion
Wonderful, Gavin. We have been fed a diet of psycho-babble plus subjective relativism for so long now : most Christians have been raised on theological Macnuggets and desperately need a four-square meal drawn from the actual words of Jesus.
What I notice, GAVIN, is that the language, vocabulary, and the concepts which the former are used to construct, are frequently the same; whether one is dealing with the NHS, Local Government, the Church, the MSM, Banks, or Capitalist Companies: they all use the therapeutic language of "kindness" and "togetherness" ("teams" are vital!); mixed with a self-righteousness which is completely immoral, in the Judeo-Christian analysis of the 'source' of all goodness. This is the language of 'Globalist-Communism', as practised in China: and the overall effect of this "kindness" and "togetherness" is entirely CHILLING. There is a coldness and a 'hardness-of-heart' in the practitioners of this secular, therapeutic, Communism.
...aaand inclusivity, and you're not wrong - text analysis scientifically proves it so! All that post modern necrotic semiotic, semiology codology, was actually signposting their deliberate continuous decoupling of the Sign (Language) from the Signified (Reality). Ushering in the Inversion of all, as The New Normal. Personality disorder weaponised, Language purely as a Tool of Manipulation of perceptions.
Dear Gavin, when I hear you talk I somehow find implied a “justification by faith alone”. Works are a consequence of our salvation rather than a contribution to our salvation. Thank you so much for this video.

This reminds me of the crazy week of Masses on vacation this week. I thought I was top dog, then God put me in my place. The priest gave us an anniversary blessing after Mass one day. Whoa! The words of the blessing were a reminder to live my vocation God's way, and that would be the difference I could make!!
So true…..as a recovering addict, stopping the substance is the first step, and others supported me to do that, they didn’t tell me just to keep on doing it!!
Dr.Ashenden you speak as a scholar. like our priests of long ago.l am an 88 year old grandmother and l am apalled at the present turn of events.l blame it on the lack of traditional classic education in the seminaries, the cultural revolution of the 1960’s, and the media, films, television, publications with their cancel culture agenda.Hence the irrational interpretation of the Scriptures, and of the deposit of faith, snd a new Godless philosophy.l pray continuosly for my children and grandchildren that they will not be caught up in this crazy ideology.
It is sheer pretense that the church has not become encrusted through the years with various presumed competencies in areas like psychology and anthropology as well as residual platonism that continue to haunt theology to this day. The synod is an assessment on a worldwide level of exactly what Catholics do in fact believe. The various scandals, financial and sexual, in the Catholic Church simply brought to the collective awareness of the laity that they could no longer presume that the church at the corporate level was immune to temptation and poor managerial decisions. The belief that holy orders automatically bestowed theological competency also became subject to diminished credibility. I'm sure that Pope Francis realized that simply flexing theological muscle would not restore lost trust. Whether the synod results in renewal or disappointment will depend upon the good faith of all parties and willingness to confront the totality of our collective history as a church in order to move forward with the collective mission of the church as it reaches out beyond Europe to the entire world the majority of which is not Christian.
Thank you but I Think that this Synod forgets that we need first to listen lo Jesus and in this loving our Father and leaving our lives in the source of the Holly Spirit and will be renewed. We also need to love our Mother the Holly Virgin Mary. Please continue with this wonderful lectures.
Look for a Free Church of England parish or Anglican Mission in England. I know they are few right now but churches are being planted and some C of E Churches leaving. God bless you.
Return to tradition. But we know the devil hates tradition and especially the mass of all ages! Lord have mercy on us and the souls leading souls astray.
Listening to your critique I realised the bulk of TH-cam Catholic channels, dissection and disseminating similar critiques are terminally superficial and vacuous, with little genuine intellectual rigour This on the other hand was an absolute delight, and substantial.
The document begins in part with the question "what steps does the Spirit invite us to take in order to grow as a synodal Church?" How is that "bureaucratic" and "progressivist"? It speaks with great beauty and spiritual sensibility of "our identity and vocation is to become an increasingly synodal Church: walking together, that is, becoming synodal, is the way to truly become disciples and friends of that Master and Lord who said of himself: “I am the way” (Jn 14:6). Today it is also a deep desire: having experienced it as a gift, we want to continue to do so, aware that this journey will be fulfilled on the last day, when, by the grace of God we will become part of that throng described in Revelation thus: “there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (Rev 7:9-10). This text gives us the image of a definitively accomplished synodality, in which perfect communion reigns across all the differences that compose it, differences which are maintained and united in the one mission that remains to be completed: to participate in the liturgy of praise that from all creatures, through Christ, rises to the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit." It enumerates the "characteristic signs of a synodal Church" by identifying: 1. a synodal Church is founded on the recognition of a common dignity deriving from Baptism 2. common baptismal dignity and co-responsibility for mission 3. A synodal Church is a listening Church ... thus receiving a recognition of their unique human worth that testifies to the Father’s love for each of his sons and daughters 4. a synodal Church desires to be humble, and knows that it must ask forgiveness and has much to learn 5. A synodal Church ... is not afraid of the variety it bears, but values it without forcing it into uniformity. 6. a synodal Church promotes the passage from “I” to “we”. 7. a synodal Church is open, welcoming and embraces all [i.e. is "catholic" in the best sense of the word] 8. a synodal Church confronts honestly and fearlessly the call to a deeper understanding of the relationship between love and truth (i.e. is "orthodox" in the best sense of the word] 9. a synodal Church is [able] to manage tensions without being crushed by them [i.e. is always open to reform and renewal] 10. Trying to walk together also brings us into contact with the healthy restlessness of incompleteness 11. a synodal Church unceasingly nourishes itself at the source of the mystery it celebrates in the liturgy 12. a synodal Church is also a Church of discernment, ... discernment through the practice of conversation in the Spirit. ... we begin to pay more attention to “what the Spirit is saying to the Churches” (Rev 2:7) Indeed, the great emphasis through this document is on listening to the Spirit as we walk together in the Spirit following Jesus. That all seems to me to be entirely "spiritual" and not (as you said) "primarily political and intellectual". I say this as one who has appreciated your perspective and insights in the past. But on this occasion I find your assessment of the Instrumentum Laboris less than fair or charitable and objectively mistaken. It strikes me as wanting to read politics and ideology into the document rather than give it the benefit of the doubt and accept it as a theological and pastoral tool for a spiritual (Spirit-led) work of discernment. "Whenever we encounter another person in love, we learn something new about God." Amen.
1. Allow priests to marry….(women only) 2. Form a Vestry of 12 worthy members of each parish. 3. Leave global warming to the secular 4. Leave the alphabet people to their devices, they aren’t our business. 5. Encourage the family and the joy of having children. I happen to be gay and this is my firm convictional advice. Do not sway with the times. Feelings are not love. Real love is often times lonesome, sacrificial, and self wrenching on a daily discipline staying the course of Christ’s mission, not yours. It can be done.
The English "Reformation" was imposed from the top down on a populace which didn't want it. Of those who resisted, the notables were martyred while the rest were marginalized out of existence over time. The majority ducked their heads and hoped for the best. The current deformation of the Church, the synodal "Reformation", is more insidious: it's the Animal Farm/1984 kind of reformation--even harder to resist than the one done through fiat and bloodshed by Henry VIII. I think our Church which shaped the world is now becoming the prophesied Remnant of her former self, and we the faithful will end up praying for the pope "whoever he is" and searching for our sacraments. God help us.
Excellent talk! Thank you for troubling to read this thing. I tried- it was too nauseating. It's like the Church is to be one big kindergarten where the teachers are led by the children.
The Catholic Church cannot fail. Our Savior himself has said “- - the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The present situation in the Catholic Church was foretold, in no uncertain terms, by Our Lady of Good Success”, less commonly known correctly as “Our Lady of Good Remedy”, over 400 years ago in New Spain, now modern day Ecuador, in the city of Quito. In my opinion, this Marian prophesy trumps all of the Marian apparitions as it was the first to warn us about this present time we are living in.
They act as if there is a universal call for change among the laity, however I have never heard the Synod on Synodality mentioned in any parish in our Deanary where I have attended Mass. Have never seen any posters. Never seen any mention in bulletins. And I have certainly never been asked my opinion...
Dear Gavin, thanks for this, could you expound upon what you would consider as 'genuinely synodal'? I know the Eastern Churches have a system which follows that (not without its significant flaws). What would true synodal ecclesiology look like? Do we look back to early Medieval synods? God bless

Greetings to you. Thank you so much for this video. Many years ago, I believe the Lord Jesus wanted me to know where I stood with the LGBT, which was quite unusual because at the time and circumstances I only knew two indirectly. What transpired over time surprised me. I felt like I was in a wilderness, and I certainly did not realize that the Lord Jesus took me with Him into the Wilderness per Matt 4, but after that, I began to see various things. In our very abusive society, I believe many LGBT today are like people who married five times, and all they discovered through therapy was (for women) that they just changed their name, and for most, they were unconsciously or unwittingly repeating their abusive past by creating scenarios with their abusive spouses to try to fix their past or make that thing better. I believe this is similar to the LGBT who are repeating their abusive past by trying to make this thing better. Both groups do not know that they cannot fix their past. I believe we are seeing the wounded and the predators today in many ways. I could say so much here, but I believe a lot of truth is coming out from the 1960's and 1970's per the Jesus Movement then that a lot of people (called Hippies at the time) ended up on the streets, like Height Ashbury intersection where so many were trying to cope with abuse in an era where they were not aloud to talk about it; thereby the abusers (who feel self-entitlement like any abuser today) became epidemic to our society. No one stopped them, and I think we are seeing the repercussions of it today. I definitely would suggest to anyone who takes care of children is to teach them that God loves them and will never forsake them, for that is true. A child needs to know this. A personal relationship with God is the most important thing of all, and that changes everything. I think that is what is lost in various circles today...a lot is simply a discussion of God. True faith, I believe is telling people to ask God for answers, and it certainly demonstrates faith. Repentance, I believe is a natural response when coming to the only Holy God Who is Love. Believers have a fear of God, and it often is that preachers reveal God's Love to them and that God died for them on the cross and so much more. God bless you in Jesus' Name.
It is a blessing for us old Catholics that you have come into the Church bearing many gifts with you, Dr. Ashenden. God bless you and your family.

To be affirmed in our sins is to surrender.
Amen !
Jesus listened and then said “go and sin no more”
That bit is missing from the Vatican’s current word salad.
Gavin,
all I can say is praise the Lord for you! - and your most important ministry in our present age. It has never been so necessary.

If I may quote Fr Ripperger: «There may be a spirit here, but it’s not the holy one.»
Thank you so much, Dr. Ashenden. Excellent explanation of what to expect from the coming Synod on Synodality.
“More journeying than arriving”
(I know not to take communion at a non-Catholic church.)
I so admire your sharp intellectual shredding of the newest Papal encyclical.
I will pray for you. You are a true warrior for Christ. Thank you for all you do. (I stand with you.)

Attend Mass.
The abomination has been brought into the temple
I know those raised Catholic have had it drummed into them "go to mass." Not me.
Dear Dr Ashenden thank you for this wonderful analysis
Thank you! You ring with truth.
Wish the hierarchy would listen to God. Listen to Tradition.
I just love it when you are.....direct n to the point Gavin . Thank you - love n blessings from Sydney Australia.
This is not to imply that that you should always, be direct and to the point - just that I really enjoy it when you are .
Ah Hu and this is irony ! ( As opposed to sarcasm ).
Ashenden, for your insights on Instrumentum Laboris and your sense of the current situation.
Thank you, Dr. Ashenden for this very important and timely video. It must be said that any decisions that come forth from this synod, that go against Sacred Scripture and orthodox Catholic teaching will be illegitimate.
Acceptance can be wholly destructive .
Acceptance , tolerance , "walking together" have become the stones paving the road to Hell .
Thanks for highlighting this.
Thank you so much for continuing with this sort of thing. You hold up the torch of sanity and Truth amid all the darkness!
Well said Dr. Ashenden. God bless you.
Wonderful presentation. Thanks Mr. Ashenden
Thank you so much, this was excellent.
I console myself with what Jesus said: the gates of hell shall not prevail against my Church. Praise you, Lord for this affirmation!

This is excellent.
it would be so wonderful if we had you leading the UK synod in reply to Francis..and a letter inviting Calvin Robinson and others to journey with us. FAT CHANCE!
Thank you and well done.
Excellent !!!!! Thank you !!!
Well done!

Wonderful, Gavin. We have been fed a diet of psycho-babble plus subjective relativism for so long now : most Christians have been raised on theological Macnuggets and desperately need a four-square meal drawn from the actual words of Jesus.
Thank you for your clear and concise talk on the Synod and for revealing the very dangerous path upon which it is journeying.

I would love a full transcript of this talk, so I can dive deeper into everything you’ve said if one was available.
Wise words, as always.

King of France - Tennis Court Oath - Deposing of King of France - Fatima - Third Secret not disclosed on time - Vatican II - Synodality - ...
The document begins in part with the question "what steps does the Spirit invite us to take in order to grow as a synodal Church?" How is that "bureaucratic" and "progressivist"? It speaks with great beauty and spiritual sensibility of
"our identity and vocation is to become an increasingly synodal Church: walking together, that is, becoming synodal, is the way to truly become disciples and friends of that Master and Lord who said of himself: “I am the way” (Jn 14:6). This text gives us the image of a definitively accomplished synodality, in which perfect communion reigns across all the differences that compose it, differences which are maintained and united in the one mission that remains to be completed: to participate in the liturgy of praise that from all creatures, through Christ, rises to the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit."
It enumerates the "characteristic signs of a synodal Church" by identifying:
1. a synodal Church is founded on the recognition of a common dignity deriving from Baptism
2. common baptismal dignity and co-responsibility for mission
3. A synodal Church is a listening Church ... thus receiving a recognition of their unique human worth that testifies to the Father’s love for each of his sons and daughters
4. a synodal Church desires to be humble, and knows that it must ask forgiveness and has much to learn
5. A synodal Church ... is not afraid of the variety it bears, but values it without forcing it into uniformity.
6. a synodal Church promotes the passage from “I” to “we”.
7. a synodal Church is open, welcoming and embraces all [i.e. is "catholic" in the best sense of the word]
8. a synodal Church confronts honestly and fearlessly the call to a deeper understanding of the relationship between love and truth (i.e. is "orthodox" in the best sense of the word]
9. a synodal Church is [able] to manage tensions without being crushed by them [i.e. is always open to reform and renewal]
10. Trying to walk together also brings us into contact with the healthy restlessness of incompleteness
11. a synodal Church unceasingly nourishes itself at the source of the mystery it celebrates in the liturgy
12. a synodal Church is also a Church of discernment, ... discernment through the practice of conversation in the Spirit. ... we begin to pay more attention to “what the Spirit is saying to the Churches” (Rev 2:7)
Indeed, the great emphasis through this document is on listening to the Spirit as we walk together in the Spirit following Jesus.

2. Form a Vestry of 12 worthy members of each parish.
3. Leave global warming to the secular
Our Savior himself has said “- - the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
The present situation in the Catholic Church was foretold, in no uncertain terms, by Our Lady of Good Success”, less commonly known correctly as “Our Lady of Good Remedy”, over 400 years ago in New Spain, now modern day Ecuador, in the city of Quito. In my opinion, this Marian prophesy trumps all of the Marian apparitions as it was the first to warn us about this present time we are living in.
Hank you!!
They act as if there is a universal call for change among the laity, however I have never heard the Synod on Synodality mentioned in any parish in our Deanary where I have attended Mass. Have never seen any posters. Never seen any mention in bulletins. And I have certainly never been asked my opinion...
Very good.
Dear Gavin, thanks for this, could you expound upon what you would consider as 'genuinely synodal'? I know the Eastern Churches have a system which follows that (not without its significant flaws). What would true synodal ecclesiology look like? Do we look back to early Medieval synods?
God bless
Our Blessed Lady warned us about the synod, she said that we would be in danger if we were to follow it. A work of the devil, disguised as Godly.
