Honesty, out of all the human characters we've gotten over the years in Transformers media, Sari Sumdac from Transformers: Animated might by my favourite human POV character we've gotten. Even though I won't spoil anything for those who haven't seen the show, what they do with her character is really interesting. Her relationship with the Autobots is sweet and endearing, and her growth as a character is well-written. I also really love what they're doing with the newest Transformers: Skybound comic run and their new reinvention of classic characters like Spike Wittwiki, Sparkpluck (Spike's dad), and Carly.
Human characters in Transformers can work and think it for the most part worked best in Transformers Prime. I also thought the humans in ROTB were pretty good, it's just a matter of how many main human characters you have and how much you use them. If they are like Transformers Prime they can work, but they should mostly just be more side characters like for the next Knightverse movie. They don't need any real big story arcs just have them do what they do and let the Transformers have at least 75-80% of the spotlight.
Humans have valid uses in Transformers. I've seen someone use a similar comparison with Godzilla, which has had the recent Minus One film to show audiences humans can not only be well written, but be so fantastically written in these sort of 'nerdy' stories that they win oscars. Transformers has had chances to show that too, as clearly seen in the video, and on occasion they pull it off successfully. This is especially in recent times - I know there's debates around the quality of Noah Diaz in RotB and the Maltos in Earthspark, but I found them incredibly involved and deservedly emotional characters, with only moments of lackluster writing rather than being awful to watch for how prickly, crude, cocky and obnoxious they are in Bay's lineup. there's a time and a place for humans - Modern Earth. If they're gonna write the Transformers on Modern Earth, It's best to take the extra challenge and write that human regardless of how many people whine. Anything on Cybertron, or any Earth things before humans started civilizations (think Beast Wars), can easily exclude humans. And I have a problem with that Cyberverse cartoon for excluding any major human characters despite it often occurring on Modern Earth. Also, there's a lot less humans being annoying than the Unicron Trilogy and Bay Films made people think. Most humans in the comics, and again, most humans in the modern films and shows range from pretty tolerable even when they're the focus to actually awesome to see (Agent Schroder my beloved)
@@SabeNo-rh7mb Human VILLAINS are great. They were hilariously cheesy in G1 and Animated. Meanwhile Silas/C.Y.L.A.S. and Mandroid, and a lot of the situations around them, are probably the most gory and disturbing things to happen in all of the otherwise more friendly shows. Even in the films I’ll admit that Attinger helps continue the Sentinel Prime idea that the Transformers and Humans can’t get along, and this time it actually makes Optimus hesitant. So human antagonists aren’t necessary, but damn do they help some of the stories along.
Really, saying that humans don’t have a place in Transformers stories is misattributing a symptom for the disease. Humans aren’t the problem, it’s production limitations, be them writing and or choice of media. You can have compelling human characters in Transformers so long as they are written and handled well. So long as Transformers stories keep bringing the Cybertronians to Earth, especially modern Earth, humans come with the territory, quite literally. With this set up, the two races are bound to interact in some way. Otherwise, why bother making the setting modern Earth? It may as well have been some random planet otherwise.
@@MrHAH-cd9kuhuman characters in G1 are silly period, and the bots always have to put up with their shit Like the time Spike wanted to be an autobot Raul just fucking up Tracks’ voicebox, and later beats Megatron with a can of paint The girl who fell in love with Powerglide Or the time when the mayor declared “Decepticon Day” all because Megs faked an autobot theft once That said, I still enjoy the involvement of the humans and goes to show the motives of the factions Prime wants them protected because they’re incredibly stupid Megs wants to exploit them because they’re incredibly stupid

Hot take: Humans are a vital component to the Transformers. There have been some awesome stories either on Cybertron like the High Moon Games (and god I’m excited for TF:One too), out in space like in MTMTE or even on Earth where no humans are ever involved. However, as shown in Animated, Prime and the latest Skybound comics, the dynamics between Bot and Human can make for some incredibly wholesome moments and equally can generate some interesting conflict. We are able to see how these two species differ from one another but also in various ways how similar they are as people. Besides, without any humans around to hide from can you really call any of these fellas ‘robots in disguise’, let alone ‘giant robots’ when there’s none around to give them scale?

I really don’t see the issue with the human characters honestly. I mean, Soundwaves friendship with GI Joe heatwave and a majority of the Prime human characters are pretty good, so I seriously fail to see the issue
Special mention for best human characters should be given to Agent Schloeder, and Dot and Alex Malto. Earthspark's Human cast had a pretty strong line up.
I've always said that I want more transformers stuff where the focus is on the robots instead of humans. Though I guess maybe I just want well written human characters. I don't like how every movie is only half transformers and half human.
I think human characters aren't a problem its when they are used as an excuse to do lazy writing since they are a great vechicle to direct toward transformers and having someone to ask questions the transformers themselves wouldnt have a reason to ask. But having them in every movie and series gets tiring sometimes so it was great there has been a break from human characters for a while.
Another likable humans from the live action Transformers movies are: Charlie Watson (from the 2018 movie "Bumblebee") and Noah Diaz (from the 2023 movie "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts")
Your thoughts on sari sumdac? technically half cybertroian but still mostly human, I like her felt like she grew and learned, had likeable interactions with the auto bots, also nice to see a human fight and be useful. Felt though she kinda got sidelined by the end though
If you're going to have a Transformers story based on Earth humans (especially the military) will have to play a part in it. The Bay-Verse was full of hits and misses, the first movie had a hit with the military interaction in the story line. The Pentagon has a department that oversees movies and scripts that are relevant to US military and requires the scripts to display the military in the most positive ways it can. The DoD looked over the movie's script and scenes, even did some rewriting of their own with how the military was to be portrayed in scenes and their characters including Lennox. The civilian characters and the fictional sector 7 could be portrayed anyway Michael Bay and screenwriters wanted but the military was heavily supervised.
My honest opinion on humans in transformers is that they can def be in the story, but as side characters only. We all want to see the giant robots so don’t focus so much on the boring humans
@@raptorlord2465 well your wrong too I mean look at ROTB (okay movie) it had so many connection to original show of maximal and it's bad and the plot is the mess and it had almost bland cgi fight the only transformers movie has a good character is from the bumblebee movie it's charlie and good transformers robot fight is TF, ROF,DOTM, and Bumblebee
Me personally I think there needs to be a balance I want transformers to get more focus but at the same time we don’t want the human character to just be there for no good reason the TF franchise should take inspiration from planet of the apes when it comes to human dynamics with non human characters
Agent Fowler from Transformers Prime was the GOAT since he was actually connected to the government, had military training, and used those factors to actually affect stuff
Since part of the charm of Transformers is that they turn into earth vehicles, human characters feel like a necessity. Could you imagine a Transformers series (Barring prequels) where they never go to Earth and they all stick to their Cybertronian alt modes through the whole thing?
I actually really like Miko too even though she was really impulsive she was still very useful and grew over the series especially when Bulkhead was almost killed by Hardshell. Plus I really enjoyed her short time in the wreckers.
Lets not forget, neither Cyberverse nor the WFC Trilogy (which I would've only made the series worse than it already was) had humans, aside from one shot or the mention of them
Let's be real, Miko has undiagnosed ADHD and parental issues. I find her much more likeable than Raf, the little know-it-all. I might be biased though Im also a punk rocker lol
I mean, bottom line is that we watch Transformers for the alien robots whose adventures fans have followed for years. The humans are often bland or obnoxious compared to the cybertronians, and, oh yeah, the human characters often remind the audience of our own mortal dread when the robots have millinae on their lifespans and their human friends are dead and gone in under a century. 😢
Fair point but what made transformers appealing in the first place was the fact they transform into vehicles, aircrafts, electronic devices etc I enjoy transformers for the robots and the humans a like it when we get stories that only focuses on the transformers but those stories shouldn’t be the standard
Having humans wouldn't be bad as long as they weren't annoying or take up so much darn screentime. They should bring Agent Fowler into live action he's a good human character.
Transformers humans suffer from the same problems as humans in the Godzilla franchise. It's not that we need to cut then out, we just need to put in more effort to make them likeable and layered characters and weave their stories and character arcs with those of the transformers. Lazy and unimaginative people say we should cut them out because they just can't be bothered.
Perspectivley Humans are 2nd fiddle to the story. I dont mind humans in TF as long as they're written well dont hog up the spotloght and being annoying like most of the bayverse. BB and ROTB humans felt like a breath of fresh air because they felt like actual human characters that weren't being annoying. Imagine watching Avengers but 70% of the film is SHEILD hoging the spotlight and 30% is Avengers
Carly in skybound transformers is annoying at the moment. I understand she’s gone through some rough times in a very short time, having to process giant alien robots and her dad being killed by starscream. But damn she’s coming off annoying.
If they would just *Stop* trying to have them take over the whole plot *Every time* (especially in live action), they could actually work. Because I legitimately like certain ones like Cody Burns, Frankie Green, Agent Fowler, and the like.
I believe human characters can work in the movies (Charlie, Memo, Noah, and Alaina are examples of that), but they have to be well written and fleshed out just like the bots. Without that, they're just Kicker Jones
Human character in the transformers franchise are hit or miss but at the end of the day we need humans and earth in transformers because at the end of the day these characters transform into vehicles cars, trucks, planes etc and that’s the main selling point having transformers iterations with no earth and humans is great to balance things out to Give us a break from earth and human drama tho but it should never be the standard EVER
I actually kind of like Miko from Transformers prime. Raph was just kinda there. Jack was OK. Fowler’s outbursts were hilarious. M.E.C.H was interesting.
I liked Raph and Jack, mostly Jack because of his journey from where he was to helping Arcee get over her fear and even helping on cybertron. Raph was pretty cool, Fowler was great, Miko I thought could get annoying at times but I liked her dynamic with Bulkhead and Wheeljack.
I related to Raf as a kid being a nerd myself. I had a pretty big crush on Miko. Jack kinda made me dread puberty. Fowler had me laughing my ass off. And currently MECH has turned into my favorite rogue faction to explore via fanfics
Kicker Jones introduces a bit more baggage than I can appreciate. We had the guys from Armada religated to the background, while given that tool, who sorta implies that Earth was a bit more advanced than most of what we saw in Armada implied (thay last part not bad in itself, but tone down the hot-headedness and have him supplement the awesome folk we're there for while expanding things)
I always thought the idea of humans being in any type of transformers was extremely weird. Take the first transformer live action movies for example: why were the humans there? can the transformers not speak and drive the narrative themselves? I always thought humans did not need to be in any form of transformers media.
I agree poorly written characters like the bayformers where they completely take over even tho I do like some of them , but I think the perspective and the clashing size and cultural comparisons with cybertronians and humans and the differences I think that works the best in the Idw comics , prime and animated did this well even tho the dislike of Milo she learned grew and became a fully fledged wrecker actually helping and becoming a valued member of the team I also liked the human characters in rise of the beasts it really grounded the conflict and stakes and they were useful and Noah got that awsome scene merging with mirage and actually got to help Optimus in the final battle completing his arch of only looking out for himself and being a hero , I like a lot of these takes you put here
My favorite part of transformers is them trying to blend into earth and work and protect humans as well as their own kind and the massive differences between these races
Definitely the latter opinion, especially considering how much of Transformers media revolves around Earth; we live here, and it'd be weird to not have someone around to provide a bit of down-to-Earthness from time to time. When humans are done well, we get Lennox, Epps, Verity, Alexis, and Sari (to name a few, I'm sure I missed some). But when they're just shoved in without the writers caring . . . yikes. Special shout-out to the forgettable conspiracy-bro from _Revenge of the Fallen_ that served literally no purpose, seriously why. Also, Miko 100% has some sort of undiagnosed ADHD going on. Kind of a shame people dislike her for it.
There's nothing inherently wrong with human characters in Transformers, since they are the natural inhabitants of Earth, and a large chunk of Transformers storytelling takes place on Earth, as the Transformers timeline can pretty much be divided into 4 parts: 1. Pre Great War, 2. The Great War, 3. Autobots and Decepticons fight on Earth to end the Great War, and 4. Post Great War. It is appropriate for humans to take up a large chunk of Transformers storytelling while the Transformers are on Earth, maybe even after the Great War ends and the Transformers leave Earth, humans can still be present as an ally to the race. Personally, I don't even mind the live action movies having a large emphasis on the humans anymore, because as long as the Transformers are done right and are the ones driving the story, the human characters will work. The problem is that human characters are RARELY done right. The only instances I can name of likeable human casts whose presence made sense given the context of the story were in G1 (duh), TF: Prime, TF: Animated, Bumblebee, ROTB, and, if you want to be generous, the Unicron Trilogy. Otherwise, the human characters are mostly annoying caricatures or obvious self-inserts made by mediocre writers who don't know any better. Transformers should always be the focus of a Transformers story, even if the protagonist is a human, which is something the Bayverse really gave up on, with the stories being more central to Sam and Cade, while the only Transformers who were actual characters were Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Luckily, the reboot movies seem to be on the right path so far, putting much more emphasis on the Transformers side of the story, though they still have a long way to go to reach the accuracy of TV shows like Prime.
I acrually kinda liked Sam from bayverse. Maybe it's nostalgia talking but I thought he was fun to watch in his meltdowns and sassy attitude. Besides Charlie, he has the best chemistry with bumblebee which was always good to see when it happened. The launch pad scene from DOTM almost made me cry the first time.
I actually really like age of extinction, and Kade and Shane’s relationship was a big part of that. Tessa is the one I can’t stand, and I genuinely think the movie would have been better if it was just Kade and Shane with the autobots.
I'm assuming everyone seems to forget that CGI is one of or even the most money-in-fire types of ways to make films. Especially when it's based on huge ass robots that have fought a multi-million year war on a planet *IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM*. In which yes, the newer live-action Transformers films do have CGI robots but with much more screen time. But they had to sacrifice a lot of characters to give way for more screen time for others that are more or less focused on, or had to reduce the quality of the CGI itself to also give more screen time (or both, yes I'm talking about you Bumblebee and ROTB). But what Michael Bay wanted to do with his Bayverse Transformers films is to make the best of the best quality CGI possible to make them as real as possible. But that takes millions even billions to do so him and his team at Industrial Light & Magic did a really good job at the Bayverse Transformers films. Despite the lack of screen time. But at least it all makes sense.
Why don't the writers just bring back the concept of that old transformers anime Super-God Masterforce were a group of humans called godmasters get the power to transform into cybertronians to fight against other threats because that gives the humans a reason to be useful on missions instead of just running around and yelling while the autobots do all the work.
Hot take, I like Sam from the second Bayverse. Sure he started out as the wimpy afraid of women loud mouth Sam and yes he wanted out of the conflict at the start of the movie. People sometimes forget that Sam only wants a normal life and he rejected Optimus' favor mainly because he lacks confidence with himself, remember he said "You're Optimus" and "You don't need me" or something along those lines, but when Optimus died, he changed and became more pro active and headstrong. A good contrast is his interaction with his father, at the beginning he was the typical teenager when interacting with his parent, shy and embarrassed with his mother and he generally acts like a sidekick to his father, but at the end he was confidently telling his father to leave with Bumblebee so he can revive Optimus. Hate him in the first movie because he was a loud mouth wimp, and hate him in the third movie because he's bossy but you can't deny he had an arc in the second film Is Sam the best human in Transformers IP? I haven't seen all so I can't say. Does he get a bit too bossy on the third movie? Well he technically did help save the world twice now, one by personally killing the leader of the Decepticons and the other by personally reviving the leader of the Autobots (Optimus did die protecting him so it's atleast even) and the mother fucking primes considered him worthy to earn the Matrix of leadership so I can tolerate a bit of ego here and there but his Ego once again went away when things went to shit
The characters from transformers prime only had one problem, that being they are used as hostages too often. Other then that they are really good characters
I actually don't mind humans in Transformers media. Obviously a big factor is how they're handled which determines your like or dislike for them in the end but to me I just like seeing the moments of Autobots, Decepticons, or a factionless Cybertronians have a small moment with various humans between big action moments that showcase their distinct personalities.
The whole point of Transformers is that they're "robots in disguise". It's a story about aliens who hide in plain sight among humans, until at least one person realizes the secret and helps out. The reason why people hate humans so much in Transformers is because we're given all these bad examples. The writers need to give humans better means to help the 'Bots (like mech suits or inventions) so that they can be seen as equals in the eyes of the audience, and not annoying stragglers.
i disagree whole heartedly. Sarry is a good example. Jack, Raph and miko are another good example. Did you not see what miko did to hardshell or how she beat starscream.
i think that there is a fine balance of humans and transformers that they just don't seem to be able to reach so the best thing is probably to just get rid of the humans (transformers one)

Which humans in TFP? 'Cause, honestly, the kids annoyed me more than they entertained. The nurse/mom was ok. Agent Fowler? Thought he was pretty cool even if he constantly got one-shot so other characters (usually the kids) could swoop in to save the day.
i'm glad they're finally doing something where there's no humans. Was, in my opinion, the reason why people loved the BEAST WARS. The story was "good enough" but there was NO HUMANS!!!!
I'mma pull a "technically" on that claim, since there were primitive humans in the show. They just never factored into the story as "characters" instead of being background scenery.

Don't forget about transformer prine humans, Jack, Ralph and Miko are cool
And anyone remember MECH from Prime? I hated the way they got offed. CILAS had too much potential for his arc to end the way it did.

Lennox and Epps should just come back as Duke and Roadblock for whatever GI Joe crossover they make
7:24 that reward goes to Lorenzo I'll give him my transforming hand
Found your channel when I was randomly recommended your Shockwave video earlier this year and have been loving it ever since! Cheers from Oklahoma, USA Norm!

Worst acts of the djd, iirc! Done that, but if there's any ones he didn't cover, a part two would be amazing.
Found the video intriguing, and entertaining due to MrNormalPerson being.... a normal person./lhj
Yeah I do like Noah Diaz and Charlie is there some of TF fan that hate Bayverse human not all them and just some of them I'm just curious
That's not what Micheal Bay said. He point-blank said no one would pay to see blocky robots fighting on screen.

@@raptorlord2465 Oh and Pacific rim isn't a blocky robots too
Me personally I think there needs to be a balance I want transformers to get more focus but at the same time we don’t want the human character to just be there for no good reason the TF franchise should take inspiration from planet of the apes when it comes to human dynamics with non human characters
Agent Fowler from Transformers Prime was the GOAT since he was actually connected to the government, had military training, and used those factors to actually affect stuff
I just want giant robots who can shift forms and who fight each other without humans being shoehorned in. Is that too much to ask for
Same. I was SO happy humans weren't in the Cybertron trilogy on Netflix
Why miko i liked her growth as a character.
Same. I had a huge crush on her as a kid, ngl
Lets not forget, neither Cyberverse nor the WFC Trilogy (which I would've only made the series worse than it already was) had humans, aside from one shot or the mention of them
The big reason why I love Transformers One It's a Cybertron Only Story with no Earth involvement.
Ya know how Optimus swore never to harm humans? Yeah, bet he started to regret that rule when Kicker showed up.
Cant wait for more content from this channel!
Let's be real, Miko has undiagnosed ADHD and parental issues. I find her much more likeable than Raf, the little know-it-all.
I might be biased though Im also a punk rocker lol
I honestly kinda had a crush on Miko as a kid but I related most to Raf cuz I was kind of a nerd. Does that make me wrong?
At least Raf didn't find every opportunity to jeopardize missions and actually helped.
3:55 and the fact he befriended Sixshot. Let that sink in.
Ok the only humans that are the best are
Sari
Seamor Simmons (imo😂)
Da GOAT Agent Fowler
Sam and Lennox need to come back
If they would just *Stop* trying to have them take over the whole plot *Every time* (especially in live action), they could actually work. Because I legitimately like certain ones like Cody Burns, Frankie Green, Agent Fowler, and the like.
4:21 This had me rolling on the floor😂
I believe human characters can work in the movies (Charlie, Memo, Noah, and Alaina are examples of that), but they have to be well written and fleshed out just like the bots. Without that, they're just Kicker Jones
I, for one, love the Malto parents. Dottie is cool and Alex is.... us.
Robbie and Mo are nice, but being honest their parents just hit better for me.

I always thought the idea of humans being in any type of transformers was extremely weird. Take the first transformer live action movies for example: why were the humans there? can the transformers not speak and drive the narrative themselves? I always thought humans did not need to be in any form of transformers media.
I want more focus on the transformers to but you do know why this franchise has been successful in the first place right
We need Cade Yeager because he is good at repairing the autobots
I would love it if Epps and Lennox was brought back in the new transformers rebooted universe military soldiers or members of GI Joe
Kinda shocked there is people that didn't like Kicker.... then again its been ages since I seen Transformers Energon
Humans never bothered me.
I mean, the Autobots and Decepticons are on earth.
And for the Bayverse movies, the CGI is expansive.
Same in kaiju romp fests we don't want meetings or "character development"
I guessed kicker at the beginning of the video, lol glad to know everybody agreed
Sam witwicky, Jack Darby and Noah Diaz I all love and cherish
Let's not forget that the CGI for the Bayverse films is very expensive.

Just came to see if there was Miko hate and I'm glad there wasn't.
8:49 I will always remember hunter from IDW. All my homies hate sunstreaker. It's onsight if I ever see a car that looks remotely like sunstreaker.
As a transformers prime fan, I'm too excited for Arachnid. I wonder if a certain arena might make an appearance as well 🤔
I think human characters that are well written should be kept otherwise scrap there whole idea
Lennox and Epps would make perfect Joes and they could literally be made into new Joes
Hate him in the first movie because he was a loud mouth wimp, and hate him in the third movie because he's bossy but you can't deny he had an arc in the second film
Is Sam the best human in Transformers IP? I haven't seen all so I can't say. Does he get a bit too bossy on the third movie? Well he technically did help save the world twice now, one by personally killing the leader of the Decepticons and the other by personally reviving the leader of the Autobots (Optimus did die protecting him so it's atleast even) and the mother fucking primes considered him worthy to earn the Matrix of leadership so I can tolerate a bit of ego here and there but his Ego once again went away when things went to shit
The characters from transformers prime only had one problem, that being they are used as hostages too often. Other then that they are really good characters
Beast Wars had no humans either
More like early stage humans
Maybe a Gundam and Transformers crossover would help out :P
@@jwwprod3862 Bro, YES! The sky is the limit, honestly.

i'm glad they're finally doing something where there's no humans. Was, in my opinion, the reason why people loved the BEAST WARS. The story was "good enough" but there was NO HUMANS!!!!
I'mma pull a "technically" on that claim, since there were primitive humans in the show. They just never factored into the story as "characters" instead of being background scenery.
