Korea has free lunch for all public schools! Even the worst lunches are really good, balance-wise. It follows strict nutrition regulations, and there's a nutritionist in every school who plans the lunches. It's usually rice, soup, 3-4 side dishes(or banchan, almost always including kimchi) and some kind of dessert, like fruit or packaged sweets. There are also variations of noodles, spaghetti, burgers, etc which are usually considered a treat :D

I live in Thailand and this is my school lunch that i experienced for 6 years, there only 1 thing to pick and i always just hope it's something not tasteless.
    1) Wet fried rice : it's wet yet one of best dish in school, there peas, carrot, pig's soul or sometime chicken's soul and wet rices in it.
    2) tasteless soup with wet rices : it's not that bad, is it?, Well there is pig's soul, diced carrot in the soup and wet rice.
    3) pumpkin soup : not that great but i like it, well what do you expect to be in pumpkin soup?
    4) rice noodles with soup : this is one of best dish in school, since the soup is seasons with pepper and more combined it with rice noodles, this is good but not the best
Well there more but i forgot it, since one days i found a LITERALLY caterpillar in my pumpkin soup, i literally wanna forget it but i just can't. If i remember next time i will tell more about my school food.

I remember lunches not being too bad at my smaller school district, but it was also the mid-90's - mid-00's so things were a bit different then.
We had the usual hot meals that were like generic La Choy chop suey with rice, ravioli day, spaghetti day, pizza boats, turkey and gravy, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, chicken patties, and other stuff that was not bad at all honestly.
There were Bosco sticks, pizza sticks, sandwiches like your standard pb&j, ham/turkey & cheese, club sandwiches, salads, soups, usually chicken or tomato, small parfait -like things, cookies.
Drinks were standard plain or chocolate milk, but also there was a small cooler case of flavored waters, juices, ice tea and sports drinks. There was also an assortment of like frito-lay chips as well.
We did also have breakfast, but I rarely got it since I usually ate it at home before I got on the bus.
I actually liked the hot lunches quite a bit over taking a cold lunch when I was in middle & high school. 😊

For me, I come from the Philippines and based on the school I went to, they served rice and various ulam (ulam means a dish that you eat with rice. ex. Egg, Vegetables, fish, meat, etc.) The usual ulam would be fried bangus fish, Hotdog, Egg, Longanesa, Corned beef, or vegetables. It depends on the day. They also served a few drinks like juices and milk. There were also optional snacks like a fried wrap called turon or a rice cake called puto. I'm sure school lunches are different since it depends on the school, but tbh we usually bring our own lunches.

Usually a serving of food that couldn't have filled a mouse. Some days we had taco bowls consisting of beans, vegetables, rice, beef or chicken, and a serving of cheese or lettuce if you'd like. Sometimes we had baked pasta with a ton of cheese, other times we'd have lo mein or rice with teriyaki or orange chicken. Other days, we'd have Potato Wedges and chicken, spaghetti, or quesadillas.
Everyday we could choose one of the above, or go into the other line, serving pizza, chicken sandwiches (regular or vegan) or salads.
Honestly, pretty good for American lunches. Maybe it's just Florida :)

Here in South Africa our schools don't give you launches. There are expectations of course. Like boarding schools and some poverty schools might provide food. Though the poverty ones are mostly provided by some government and private organizations. What these lunches consist of I have been idea. I do know what generally is brought to school though. Most common lunches will be sandwiches and some fruit, fruit sticks, chicken, pup(a maize porridge) and vors ( meat sausage) and pizza for some reason. We also have tuck shops. These are places that sell food to students. These places sells snack and some cooked food. The snacks and food mostly consist of: biltong(dried meat, not beef gercky!) Pies, toasted sandwiches, chocolate, chips, pizza, wraps. They also sell drinks like cold drinks and water. We don't have milk.

I'm from America, school issued lunch during my junior year was a moldy sandwich, or hard but not frozen chicken nuggets, and maybe some fries or potato wedges if you were lucky

There is almost no lunchtime in Vietnam (5% of the schools provide lunches), so we usually eat lunch at home or eat at some random stall 3 houses away from school. Y’all know Vietnamese cuisine is some shit, nutritious and delicious af.

Lunch in my area ( Italy): a primo of pasta (such as pasta tossed with pesto, beans, tomato sauce, or vegetables), risotto, or soup (like vegetable soup or tortellini in brodo), then protein, chicken or turkey cutlets, roast beef, tuna, meatballs, mozzarella, or boiled eggs.
Then ofc you drink, fruit and treat

In Malaysia, kids (from 7 to end of college) have to pay for their food
I just buy lekors everyday (I work at the school store and I don't wanna take too much time eating)

    School lunches in my country?
Well, I'm from Denmark, so if the school doesn't have a canteen, which is often does not, you bring your own lunch.
Which in my case, as a kid, was slices of unsweetened rye bread with a thin spread of butter, on which were various cold cuts of meat, or slices of hardboiled egg, or pork liver paté.
It's the simple version of one of our national dishes, called smørrebrød (buttered bread), which is basically an open sandwich.

In Indonesia usually it's 2 choice for school, let the student chose in the canteen, (Yes some school canteen apparently serves the afternoon) or a random combination everyday, some rice are too flavorful, but still eat it anyway cuz it's Indonesia, or fried, yes, fried rice, also the lunch atleast isn't soggy and didn't had mystery meat, instead they have average fried chicken(Sometimes cuz my school lunch is random food everyday), it's a lil bit cold tho :/

In Germany we have semi okay school lunches
It's not Japan Level good but it's often acceptable
    Except it's really expensive
And even when you have 9 hours so 7:55- 15:45 you won't get a discount
Plus you only have 25 minutes to get to pack your stuff, go to the cafeteria, wait in line, get a table and eat.
So I generally prefer going to the supermarket and eat some cold sandwich for cheap and get just in time to the next class.
