The Journey (1985) episode 9

The 1985 BBCTV South series, in which we took a gypsy caravan from Winchester to Canterbury - with Peter Terson and Dennis Skillicorn.
Working on this was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. We filmed this with a tiny crew. Produced and directed by the wonderful John Coleman, with David Bowerman on camera and the lovely Martin Dale on sound.
This was shot on Ektachrome and edited on the original camera film (no cutting copy) You can see the splices jump at times.
This series was hugely popular with very large audiences and was repeated several times.
I worked out and recced the route in my ancient old Mini. So rusty that you could see the road through the floor.
