Came here from your Reddit post. Sooooo good! I just started this series this year! I have about 10 hours listening time left of the Royal assassin. I have tried to explain the story so far to a couple of friends but I always feel like it doesn't make sense. I'm totally sharing this. Great job!

2 mins in and I've already learnt something, because I did not know that those Dragons books were connected to the Elderlings series. Dave's illustrations are so cute! The first ones introducing Fitz made me laugh, especially when the broom got turned into a knife. Also: "Kill dragon k thx" LMAO As you know, I'm planning to finish the Fitz and Fool books next year. I still haven't read the Ship books (or the Dragon books, which I've only just realised are connected), and I'll probably get to them at some point but I don't feel any rush, especially because it's taken me 3 years to read the Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies - waiting a bit longer isn't going to make much difference. lol
Yessss I can’t wait for you to read all the things!!! Hobb’s books are a commitment but I like how you’ve planned it all out; you got this. I’m so glad you picked up on some of the Easter eggs Dave put in the animation, hehe. ;D My personal favourite is when Fitz turns on the light switch but is also holding a candle.
The books look really nice (always a plus) and the synopsis also seems quite interesting. I’ve only heard good things about Robin Hobb, so will try to check them out in the near future. Thanx for the video, plus the animations were cute 👍😘

I read the series out of order (all 3 fits trilogies first and then the live ship/rainwild books) and although I still love the series, I feel like I missed out on how connected Hobbs universe was. So you like these books i take it. Read the Farseer and Tawny YEARS ago. Your drawings reminded me how good they were. I couldnt read the Tradeship but i didnt even know of the last 2 series. Going to reread. Hope the last two works are as good.
So far I've read the first two trilogies (the Liveship Traders being my favourite) and I can't wait to start the Tawny Man trilogy :-) I love the animations your boyfriend did and how you reacted to them when something funny was drawn! :-)

I finished Fool's Fate today (omg so good) and couldn't decide whether to jump straight into the Fitz and the Fool Trilogy (I was so excited) or wait and read the Rain Wild Chronicles first. I will read the Rain Wild Chronicles first so that it makes the overall reading experience of the series so much richer. I am excited to see any characters from the Liveship Traders pop up in the quartet. Loved your video and the animations!
I’m about halfway through Ship of Magic, my first book in the Realm of the Elderlings universe and I AM HOOKED. I’ll finish the Liveship Traders then start from the beginning.
Ok, when Fitz slips Molly the note at his funeral and then waggles his eyebrows at her - 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Do you have any suggestions of series similar to The Elderlings? I’ve been wanting to dive into something new, but every synopsis I read seems to be stereotypical sword and sorcery, or dark witchy stuff (if that makes sense).
I read some of these series so out of order when I was younger but it was based on what my ebook was recommending reading next. I definitely need to do a reread and read them all in the right order. I'm pretty sure I just read the farseer, tawny man, and Fitz and fool series 😬
Hi! Thanks for your video, very informative! I actually discovered the series through the Fool's Assassin, which I now absolutely love. It took me a lot of time to start it because I was expecting a lot of politics but it's brought in a very light and flowing way Are the previous books similar in that way, or are they heavier on the politics, complots etc? I'm super happy to get back to reading properly thanks to this book so I hope the rest will suit me as well, you can't get bored very fast with 16 books !

Quick question: So, I'm planning on reading the Farseer trilogy once I get the third book, and I know it's recommended that you read in order, but do I really have to? Like for example, once I get done with the first trilogy, I was hoping to just jump into the ones where it strictly picks back up with Fitz (Fool's Fate through Assassin's Fate).
Love Robin Hobb! I am in the middle of Dragon Haven. I was reading audiobooks and physical copies in tandem but then my audiobook disappeared mid read (from scribd) and audible says you can no longer purchase dragon haven. It is so strange! It let me purchase the last two books and the final trilogy. I can't find anywhere that has dragon haven available on audio anymore. Regardless, I love the story of Fitz and adore the Fool. Love her characters.
Oh really?! That’s so weird! Maybe something happened with the rights for it? I haven’t tried her later stuff on audio but maybe I should give it a shot. I’d be worried I’d get distracted and miss the detail but as a reread it may be okay for me. I hope you can find a format of Dragon Haven to enjoy! 💙
I loved the first trilogy but found ship of magic was just to slow for me and did not like it that much but i decided to keep persevering since i want to finish the whole saga and boy am i glad i did because i just finished mad ship and it was so good, i am looking forward to starting ship of destiny soon.
I love the Elderling series, it's great to see you talking about it. That said Althea never sailed with Kyle on Vivacia. Also I think it would be important to note that fitzChivalry is the mainest character in the series, when he's not present the main character of the narrative is not so clear cut.
I think it's fairly understandable that Fitz is the main-est character over the series, what with the trilogies being named after him. :) Thanks for the tip on Althea, I did that part of the script from memory and knew she was on the sea and she was on board Kyle's ship at one point. Must've blended the two together in my mind, but I'm not too torn up about it. Thanks for your comment. :)

I skipped most so it's fine - but I was expecting a discussion of possible orders to read the books in - not just descriptions of them that I could look up myself if I wanted to be spoiled. :/

Yeah you can definitely do that! You might miss a reference or two but if you want, you can just follow Fitz. :)
