- Swiss Army knives in ALOX made by Victorinox. Love these knives. Can’t go wrong with any option you pick IMO. There are other ALOX models not shown here, like the Harvester, Solo and many more. Which model is your favorite?
Cadet and Bantam are 84mm models with a 2.5” blade length.
The pioneer, pioneer X, farmer and electrician are 93mm models with a 2.75” blade length.
Thanks for watching!
Get Busy Livin’!!
Great video!
I used to like the cadet the best but now I have the Bantam, it does everything the Cadet can do except for the file. And it’s nice n thin. Lol
Right on brother! The cadet is one of my top favorite EDCs as well, but the Bantam was my first Victorinox EDC and like you said it’s perfect. Has what you need and nothing you don’t need. I normally prefer the ALOX models but the bantam is the one model, where even though ALOX is an option I prefer the celedor/plastic handles . Thanks for watching!
The yearly limited edition used to include the Pioneer, but since 2021, they switched to a Pioneer X (and the excluded the Cadet, too).
That’s right my friend, a big gripe of mine is that they moved away from the cadet, and the regular pioneer. I like the Pioneer X but prefer the regular pioneer most days. I still buy the X ALOX limited though each year! 😂
@@357.SwampFox I understand that they wanted to make more money with more expensive models... But if they would have kept the Pioneer or at least the Cadet, that would prbably have resulted in even more income and less disappointed collectors. But they didn't seem to care about any feedback...
@@miklospinter could not agree more man!! When I started buying the limiteds in 2015 I was only buying the cadets… not sure what I was thinking, and now the cadet and regular pioneer, I prefer both over the pioneer X - and now can’t get them. You can write to vic, but as you said it seems not to matter much.
I love them all. I have too many to name in all sizes from 58 mm keychain knives up to the 111 mm one hand opening liner lock models. I'm working on learning how to do customizations. there are several of the 91 mm models that are discontinued and I want to build my own customized versions with some to the hard to find tool combinations.
Very nice my friend! A man after my own heart! I have my favorite models of course but, truth be told I love them all and enjoy collecting them. They make great gifts and are quality built for a very reasonable price! Thanks for your feedback and for watching! Take care
I like the explorer and used to carry the 111mm hunter a lot.
Nice choices my friend! I really don’t think you can go wrong with a SAK. To me its more about which model you choose and what works for you. Those 111mms are sweet! Thanks for watchin’!
I like carrying a rambler on my keychain and a pioneer as my urban carry. That combo more than covers most of my needs. The more beat up my black pioneer gets the cooler it looks.
Hi friend, spot on man and a great combination! The pioneer is great, and the rambler can fill in the rest! With the classic on my keychain I have the scissors, toothpick and tweezers covered, plus a backup blade then which ever bigger model I want to carry for the main jobs, normally a cadet, pioneer or if I’m in the woods a farmer. Take care and thanks for watchin’
I love them all, but the 93 mm Alox are my favorites.
Yup can’t go wrong there! And a few options to choose from to keep things fun!
Can't go wrong with SAKs. I have a few, in 93mm alox I have the Farmer & the Farmer X. Probably I'll get a Pioneer X too one day. But I prefer them in silver because there's no coating to scratch off, and because it's a homage to the Soldier 61 which the Swiss military were issued for nearly half a century, other militaries too, like the Dutch army for a time. I also like the celidor scales but more for light duty urban carry, my Farmers are more outdoor knives. Today I'm carrying the Climber with black plus scales (for an emergency pen) and a pocket clip...together with Knipex Cobra XS in my 5th pocket. That setup is versatile for all kinds of EDC uses.
P.S. just checked your channel, had to subscribe so I can check out all your other content. Cheers from UK.
Hi Simon, THIS is the kind of comment I love, this comment adds value and a historic perspective, I love it! Thank you. - all great points, I like the silver models and that’s a great point. My black EDC cadet is showing some signs of wear, it’s not terrible but that may not happen or at least be as noticeable with the silver model. I once researched who currently or has carried a SAK from a military perspective and you are right, many armed forces around the world use them. For an outdoor folding knife the farmer is my absolute favorite. I like the pioneer, cadet, one handed trekker, so many more as well but the farmer is my favorite. A great cellidor option is the walker! Cheers friend
@@simonh6371 thank you kindly! Appreciate that and the comment. More to come! :)
@@357.SwampFox If you don't have a Walker you should get one whilst they are still available, that's one of the 39 models being discontinued.
@@simonh6371 hi Simon, that’s right, I actually have one and just filmed a very quick overview of it that should be up soon. I love that little knife, sad to see it get discontinued though! Get one while ya can! :)
Hey Brother, SAK are my favourite EDC. As I think I have said in the past I own a couple of Farmers which are great for rifle / scope maintenance at the range / field. My Soldier model goes with me everywhere in the bush and I have a back up SAK in my survival kit which is quite a big one with multiple blades but I have never had to use it. You don’t want to go camping / hunting and forget a can opener…awesome review cheers Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
My brother! I sometimes play these games in my head like if I could only keep one SAK.. and for me it always comes back to the farmer! Then reality sets in and I’m so thankful I can have a farmer plus a pioneer etc and don’t have to only pick one! You sound like you have thought about life and where and when you may need a SAK handy then you have it ready for those situations, I like that! The soldier is another great option (aren’t they all!) lol 😂 it’s a fun hobby and relatively inexpensive compared to other things I guess, or at least I’m telling myself that for the time being haha! Take care friend and stay safe!
@@357.SwampFox If I could only keep one SAK it would have to be the Farmer X.
@@simonh6371 respect Simon! Not a bad choice, getting a lot of options with one knife. Solid! 🍻
@@357.SwampFox Thanks! Fortunately I don't have to choose just 1 SAK.
Just bought a farmer there was a discount on it ,carry a SAK for 14 years now
Alox Soldier 1
Nice one! I have considered buying one in the past but have not done it yet! I believe the ALOX Soldier 1 is sometimes referred to as the Solo, just having one blade or the ALOX 1 since it only has one tool, the blade- this is the one I’m thinking of in my head at least, Thanks for watchin’
84mm Alox Voyageur is the best of the 84mm Alox knives. No scissors No SAK
Right on my friend! I wish I would have bought an ALOX Voyageur when I could find them easily a few years back. That is a great EDC carry. It’s like the Walker for the woods/outdoors and the Voyageur for the daily non woods tasks. It’s just enough! Thanks for watching
The Pioneer's bottle opener / large screw driver is also bigger in every dimension than the Cadet's. It feels a lot sturdier.
Thanks for watching my friend, and great point to note, I agree it’s bigger thicker and more heavy duty. Which color ALOX do you like the most?
@@357.SwampFox Soldier / ringless Pioneer are my favorites.
@@miklospinter gotcha! Do you like the electrician? At pioneer like and no ring, just curious.
You are missing my favorite,Army 7 or also known as Harvester(probably old name).
It is just like Farmer except it misses keyring and instead of can opener it has smaller blade like Electrician, but more hooked.
Right on brother! Yes I’ve heard it called the 7 and the harvester. I actually have one, brand new.. never really used or carried it just bought it for the collection. That said, there are a few models I did not show in this video. Thanks for watching and the feedback! Enjoy your 7!
Great Knifes have 45 of them.
5:16 So you would basically want an Electrician with a key ring?
Swiss Bianco used to have that in a few colors, but they are probably not easy to get nowadays.
My man, I think your right! I will have to look into them again. Swiss Bianco is dangerous for me and my bank account! 😆
@@357.SwampFox Yes, Alox makes your money disappear somehow... :D
I hate that knifecenter calls these "exclusives". An exlusive would be for me that I can only get a red one from them. This is not the case.
Agreed! I even feel kinda silly saying it. I like the bantams and collect them in ALOX whenever and where ever I find them for the most part.
I quit buying SAKs when Wenger got sold. They were just as good as Victorinox for less money. I have a few Wengers that I keep in my packs and tackle box. Don't have any Victorinox knives.
