Buffeting cannot be fixed by the windshield size or its position. Turbulence comes from down below your knee level. Angled windshield pushes air upward and at the same time scooping air into cockpit from down below. And because there is some "vacuum" behind the screen, air stream happily jumps into cockpit from below, to compensate the pressure... It hits your torso then rides up to the chin bar of a helmet causing buffeting... The only way to stop buffeting is to install lower wind deflectors angled the way so they push air downward. That will block the turbulent stream entering cockpit from below and you'll ride inside of a capsule of still air.
Hey Randy - nice video. Is that the tinted, stock windshield that comes with it? If so how tall is it? Are you looking over it ~2" which is the general rule of thumb? I'm 5'10 and am looking for a little more wind protection but don't want to eliminate it entirely. Does the fairing reduce wind but creates a new, buffeting problem or will I HAVE to have lowers to cure it (if it exists)? RM is not too far from me and I was wondering if I rode up there would they let me take a 15 min ride to try it out before I buy. Kind of doubt they would but who knows; if they have a scratched demo version they may let me do it..
Hi Randy! How much air are you feeling at the hand and arms? I ask because I’m consider a fairing for very cold riding. And I get a lot on my arms with the shield, but I don’t want to lay out bunch of $ if my arms gonna stay cold.
It does a good job of blocking the wind. The same as the regular harley touring models you also can utilize pre 2013 harley windshields of varying sizes. Reckless also sells side wings which block even more wind
hey there, great video! Do you think that GT air 2 is helping with the buffeting/updrafts? I'm running an RF-1400, and I'm starting to suspect it might be the cause of my buffeting issues.
@@randytbird6548 I’ve tried just about every windshield you can buy lol. I’ve tried clear view, clockwerks, and freedom shields. They all give me buffeting. I even cut a hole in one of them and installed the honda gl1800 vent. The best solution for me so far was to cut my stock windshield as low as I could, almost to the mounting brackets, and use the wind deflectors.
@@drippybuckets i run an arai as well as the shoei both work well for me. Im 5 ft 7 and run a 5 inch shield and can ride with my face screen open at 70 mph
I thought i was the only one! I insert ed some plastic fill plugs between the " fins " for lack of a better description. That cures it. You can get these at better hardware stores. Mine made a rattling zinging sound like a loose metal cover. Hope this helps
@@randytbird6548 thanks Randy. I’m currently using a chamois cloth but it’s ugly as hell. Thanks for the heads up. I’m sure everyone gets this. I also put the wind deflectors on mine for an even larger air pocket in cooler weather.
Have you tried calling them directly? The exchange rate may be high. Maybe they don't choose to do international sales. There are other companies but I can't vouch for them. Good luck with your search

I look over mine.the windshield is the one that comes with it but any 96 to 13 hd shield can be fitted. Don't know if Reckless has any demos though

It Has great Airflow with little buffeting My Freind has an RF 1400 and rides a street glide he love it. What Windshield are you using if any?

The rf1400 is a very aerodynamic design. Do you run a really high or low seat?

Hey Randy, I’m running the same bike with the same fairing. Do you notice the RM glove compartment ratting from vibration. How did you fix that?
