Look closely, however, on the core of the transformer when I remove there is a protrusion in the middle and indents on the sides. All you did was make a passive crossover for speaker level voltages. There are much easier ways to do this: 1. buy a set of speakers that already have a crossover that is optimized for the drivers in the cab. Use math correctly to determine the values needed for each inductor and capacitor to get what you need, ie. High-pass, band-pass, low-pass. By using the correct values, you can ensure the drivers get only the frequencies they can handle. Rather than use fixed resisters, use an L-pad to contour the mids and highs to match the output of the woofer. The reason I say this is, woofers cover a smaller percentage of the audio spectrum, but require 70 to 80 percent of the amps power. And woofers are not as efficient as mid or high speakers, especially if you are using horns. Impedance of the driver is crucial for determining values as is box volume, (air displacement) for woofers. You do need to consider type of driver for mids and highs, horns operate differently than soft dome or ribbon tweeters and require additional EQ. Mids are the same as tweets, just at a lower frequency and usually use a band-pass crossover Uncle Willie is correct in stating to always use non-polorized caps. The caps used should always have a voltage rating that is 1.2 times the voltage the amp puts out at MINIMUM. I personally double the voltage rating. I use a active crossover for my system and each cab only gets what it can produce. Hence i have a 3 way system with subs, 700 watts to each sub. 200 watts to the woofer, 100 watts for the mids, and 55 for the tweets. The sub covers 30 to 90 hz., the woofers cover 90 hz to 1.2k., the mids cover 1.2k to 3 k., the tweets handle 3k to 25k. I can average 110db slow wieghted, with .01% distortion at roughly 1/8th power. I have gobs of headroom and the system sounds phenomenal. Just my two cents worth.

However, the frequency division is very dependent on the speaker and the amplifier. and sometimes buy a built-in frequency divider in the store, but that crossover is not suitable, or just a poorly designed frequency divider. Maybe they will make the frequency divider too simple, to apply generally to all speakers and amplifiers. So it must be renovated
Alfred if you read all of my comment, you would know that i do know what i am talking about. You are correct and incorrect at the same time. The speaker or driver is what determines the frequency to provide to it. For woofers or sub drivers, the box volume determines how wide of response of the cab. Amplifiers do nothing but provide voltage or amperage gain over line level or mic level. An amp will increase voltage or amperage depending on amp type. As a FOH engineer, any mistake I make with crossovers whether passive or active, and amp selection and settings has very costly repercussions. As to speaker manufacturers, they are actually pretty good at matching crossover points to the drivers they install in their cabs, otherwise they wouldnt last very long as a manufacturer.

But in real life, there will be many kinds of cheap and imitation is very much. That will depend on what type of amp, if it is a integrated receiver, meaning it has a pre-amp to drive the power amp, then the hiss is either a product of a amp poorly put together, or your source has noise in the outputs. If you are using a non-integrated amp, you have the gain too high. If you set the pre-amp volume knob to 3 O'Clock position, slowly turn up the amp until you have the music, (for this example) at your maximum desired listening level. If you cannot get the music loud enough for your taste, then turn up the amps gain until it reaches desired volume. The lower the setting on the amp, the better, increases fidelity and headroom and reduces the annoying hiss from the speakers. The cheaper the amp, the higher the noise floor. Remember, the amp will amplify anything that appears on the input terminals, so you want that signal to be the cleanest it can be. The higher the voltage level output from your pre-amp, the better. Happy Listening.

No its not. If you amplier has a load impediance 4-8 ohms. Meaning you can use it to speaker between 4 0hms to 8 ohms.
