      I totally agree! I was forced to eat many things as a child and its amazing that I didn't grow up to be picky to spite my mother!
      I never pushed food at my children and let them try things at their own speed and whilst my son was super picky as a child he was watching me so enjoy a sandwich with fresh spinach and avocado and got brave as asked for a bite (at 11yo) and after that he branched out and had to try absolutely everything mom and dad ate. Some things he didn't care for and others he loved.
      Your approach to trying new things for your son is 100% a wonderful way to teach them.
      Plus learning at your knee about the oceans is wonderful -children are sponges for knowledge at this age I still remember following my granddad around like a shadow and ive put a lot of his knowledge of fishing and gardening to full use as an adult. I can only hope my grandchildren learn as much as my children did by always encouraging questions and answering like an adult(at appropriate age levels of course. No sweetie those squirrels are just dancing! 😆 🤣)

    Quick question, are the inavsive species "aggressive" as in it is really invasive to the ecosystem or more like a relatively "tame" alien species?

    • @duygukayhanisaskank4915
      @duygukayhanisaskank4915 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Raditya, I'd like to make a sincere attempt to answer your interesting question.
      Invasive species are just that..."invasive". You can imagine these creatures as a herd of "uninvited" relatives; barging-in at your Christmas Dinner. You prepared dinner for 6.
      Now, you have 26 to feed...as well as an over-crowded home.
      Native species exist in a precariously balanced ecosystem. In the most imperfect conditions, they coexist with a variety of lifeforms; most determine their success or failure.(life or death) When an invasive species enters an ecosystem, the delicate balance is altered. Rarely is its'
      introduction to that environment beneficial for any of the "native" lifeforms.
      Too often, there isn't a preditor of the "new" species & their population will rapidly increase.
      You can easily imagine the invasive species' overpopulation will consume a vast quantity of "limited" food resources; starving-out the now competing native species.
      There are other issues; such as living space, breeding habitat, etc...all of which will degrade
      the possibility of native species survival.
      These & other debilitating factors can decimate the "native" population gradually or in a very short span of time. Rarely is there ever a mutually beneficial coexistence of native & invasive.
      You asked if invasive species are "aggressive". Using a compound adjective that accurately describes my "EX" girlfriend, the term "passive-aggressive" would be more correct :-))
      I hope I've answered your intelligent & interesting questions.
      Kind regards, Ben

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a short answer. Yes. That is why they are classed as invasive. Instead of simply being "non native" 😉

    the eggs go under the pad...amazing....i always thought when ppl pulled up the pad to dispatch it was like breaking someone's shoulder....so it is quick and near painless for them.... :) that is good.....
    a trick i did when my daughter was little was I would make dinner and talk about how good it is and how expensive it is...but would only let her guess what it was (she never did).....get her really excited about how expensive it was and how delicious is was because it was so expensive...like it is a special moment ;) ....she loves escargot, squid, octopus, truffles, sushi, snake, bison, shark, alligator, ostrich, menudo, chocolate covered crickets, etc.....she will eat anything now ;) not picky at all.

    I'm from a very, very different part of the world; I grew up on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico, in NW Florida, with warm-water tides and a lot of palm trees and scrub-oaks right down to the water. But my family would go out hunting Bay Scallops about the size of a child's palm, thicker and rounder than your queen scallops, and we'd wear sneakers and kick around in patches of seaweed until one tried to propel itself away with jets of water. We'd scoop it up with our hands or with a net, and take them all home to bake in the oven or for my Mama to bread and fry. We'd go after blue crabs too, and just spend a day getting sunburned and exhausted and happy. No rocks, just pure white sand and warm blue water... but I really love your videos; they make me remember being a happy child with my family on days like that, and to be glad that my great-nieces and great-nephews are doing the same in the summers there.
