“MD fish tanks” here in the uk, his scapes are fantastic too. I think you would like his tanks John, he packs them with plants too and they always look great.
Lamb chop raspboras, sparkling gouramis, honey gouramis, maybe a dwarf gourami or female betta.,and khuli loaches would be awesome in here.

Great scape! Question, tidal vs. Aquaclear ? Pros and cons? I've used aquaclear religiously for years. I moved up to canisters and thinking about adding additional filtration and revamping my aquascapes. I have a 125 gallon and some think it's a waste I have goldfish in there but they are rescues and hand me downs just like most of my fish. This video is awe inspiring and can't wait to redo my tanks now. My only issue is finding balance as far as algae is concerned. I scrape weekly and use excel. I'm no snob to the hobby even with years of experience I still keep beginner and basic fish.

Hi John! My vote would be for assorted danios and white clouds. I always keep leopard, zebra, and pearl danios together. As well as looking great, they have so much personality like having teeny tiny goldfish and they're so cute! 🥰 I would also pop in a few corydoras to help clean up the substrate plus also for the cute factor. Maybe a centrepiece dwarf gourami? Ok now I'm just describing my own tanks here 😆

I'm jumping into the hobby full speed. I just got a 46 gallon bow front so I am looking for all the inspiration right now. Keep on doing what you do! I currently only have 2 nano tanks and can't wait to get my bigger tank.

John, I am not typically a fan of the color yellow but your yellow lab tank has inspired me. I am looking for a cheaper, unheated version with plants. I'm going to set up a 75 gallon tank with black background and black substrate with some plants and Gold Barbs. I'm hoping for a similar look at a much cheaper overall cost!

I have a big-ish school about 15-18 neon and black neon tetras in my 55 with my swordtails. I love how they look together
John, I remember when you said, I don’t care what anyone says, I like simple tanks where the fish are the focus and there aren’t any crazy scraped areas to distract from them! 😂 Love seeing you finally come over to the dark side!

I've never had nor wanted neon tetras, but I don't think there's anything wrong with even the most experienced aquarists wanting/having them. That's one of the great things about there being so many different kinds of fish in the hobby - there's something to suit everyone.
BTW, John, I LOVE your oscars. I don't care if they're not upscale or whatever naysayers claim. They're great fish!

I love the idea of neons, but I think a betta with those neons would be perfect
Neons are great. But an assorted color of male guppies would make the colors of plants, background and substrate pop like crazy. But whatever you go with John I'm sure when little IZZY is watching this video years from now she will love it 😊

Completely agree about the neons. I'm currently scaping a 30 gal the same way...lots of plants and lots of neons and panda corydoras. Not sure what to do for a centerpiece fish...or if I'll even have one. But there is an amazing beta at my favorite LFS that I've got my eye on.

I have a 30 gallon tetra tank that I’m slowly adding fish too. I decided to go with black neon tetras as my main fish and I’m loving the look. Black skirt tetras were the first tetras I ever had many years ago and I have a few in my tank as well.

I find a lot of communities are dwindling. I think a lot of it is showing up now as restrictions are gone, people are not stuck home watching, and creating. People are back to work, many had kids, etc.

I can’t wait to see your update on this tank. TH-cam does suck. I’m still learning and always looking for detailed info on topics. It’s as if the people I’m following have given up. A lot of info is several years old and maybe the info hasn’t changed but it would be nice to see updates on things like growing plants or the current method for the most effective way to lay substrate to get plant growth. Took me a year to figure it out by trial and error piecing together info from different people. I finally figured out the best way to vacuum my nano tanks before syphoning out all the water using my syphon and turkey baster at the same time from bits and pieces of a couple of videos. And I’m still trying to figure out light for a low tech tank. What people say may make sense to them but not to a novice such as myself. I know it requires slow adjustments to find the balance between time versus algae but it took me a year to figure it out before so called fast growing plants started growing. It’s kinda frustrating and I almost gave up on the hobby a couple of times.

Hello John and Lisa, once again you made the best video on TH-cam! I wanted to congratulate you on your cute granddaughter and give you a suggestion on a fish that Lisa loves. Truly I adore neon tetras I even keep some myself, but I do think that a betta sorority would be an absolute fantastic fish for this scape.
I have a tank mixed with neons and ruby tetras and they all school together...it looks amazing, just an extra idea...great video
Yeah… I think there is a lot of burnout and a feeling of “been there done that” among many of the FishTumers I follow. That said, I love your tank! It will look fantastic in a few months as it grows in. Also, there is nothing wrong with neons. I might suggest a trio of platties and you can show your Izzy all the babies…😊

Aquarium looks great brother, congrats on the new edition to the family, I've been a cichlid guy for some time now,but I just did a planted 20 gal. Long with brilliant rasbora's a clown pleco,mystery snail and 4 different kinds of dwarf gourami, I think it's my new favorite tank.
Freakin LOVE the idea. When I move my american cichlids out of the 90 into a 150 later this year I'm thinking about planting the 90 and filling it with neon tetras, some shrimp and a fancy pleco of some sort I think
I love Neons/Cardinals, personally prefer Cardinals but the fact they're a "beginner fish" is just a bonus for me. In my opinion they're one of the most striking fish in the freshwater hobby, the most striking small fish IMO. Only topped by some Gouramis and Discus
