As a hobbyist that keeps both fresh and saltwater, the ending of this video made me smile and cry. Jake was such a great guy and I absolutely loved watching his videos. He made keeping saltwater seem so attainable and less intimidating, now I have 3 nano reefs, and I'm planning my largest saltwater tank ever, a 90 gallon reef.

This whole series has really pulled at my heart strings! My nephews name is Jake. I watched Jake Adams videos and was happy to see the collab you guys did. I laughed when he wore the Bob Ross costume and cried when he passed. This tank is very special indeed. I’m thrilled for you! Thanks for sharing it all ❤

I've had a 90 gal planted tanked for twenty years now. It used to be a FOWLR and I loved that tank for about 15 years. After this video I could see myself going back. That's a gorgeous tank you guys have put together! I was aware of Jake's passing and this is a beautiful tribute to a great guy. Thanks for doing that.

Jake was one of a kind person and it speaks volumes for him to pick another North Carolina boy to be apart of the vision you both had. I love your videos and also have fresh and salt. It would be great if you could incorporate salt into your business since it’s getting harder to find quality products around here. Our LFS has really gone downhill since it was sold. Best of luck and praying for you both.

Carry on, John! I was at that last Aquashella where you and Jake spoke. Met Jake there. Because it is TH-cam, I wasn't sure if this was genuine. But I can tell you are dedicated carrying on the mission you and Jake shared together. I've moved from FW to also doing reef, and your commitment to bridging this gap has earned my respect. Thank you. Don't stop! The connection needs to happen. You are the light, sir.

I’ve been a huge fan of your channel for so long, I had kept fish for close to two decades, but your channel helped grow my knowledge of the hobby, and I went from small beginner tanks to big advanced tanks, ending with a large African cichlid tank. I then took the plunge to saltwater, and needed to grow my knowledge considerably to do so, and unfortunately I found myself not watching as often because I was no longer doing freshwater. I am so glad you guys are doing saltwater now too! It is incredibly fun, and the fish and invertebrates are so fascinating to me, compared to freshwater. I have a foxface just like yours and he is also my favorite fish :)

My first salt tank was a 150 gal invert tank. Loved the stars and urchins, A friend gave me a live rock that had fire worms. Had an undergravel and a power master 300 filters. This was late 70's

I myself have taken my old 37 gallon freshwater tank and converted it to saltwater FOWLR tank. I’m just starting small with basic hob filters and skimmer. Just cutting my teeth with it. You are correct in your assumption of being scared to try Saltwater because I was. It was watching videos from people like Jake and talking to people at the pet store that had their own Saltwater tank I finally got the confidence to try. I got me a 55 gallon tank for my freshwater fish to move into with the sole purpose of converting the 37g to make it happen. It is so awesome that you are continuing what you started with Jake. I can’t think of a better way to honor him. RIP to Jake. I love to sit at my table and watch your videos along with Sean and Fritz now while simultaneously watching my community freshwater and saltwater tanks. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to bringing us videos like this and having great enthusiasm and giving great advice because your advice has been more helpful than you will ever know especially to people like me. Have a good evening and week.

Think I said it on the fritz video but if it's the store I'm thinking of in VA it's FishWorld in Richmond. The owner Joe is hilarious. He remembers his customers by their tanks or their plans for their tanks 😂 I haven't been there in about a year or two but I will definitely be stopping by the next time I'm visiting my VA family. And I absolutely love the names for your fish. No idea where Pal comes from but it suits him!

While I love the movement and cartoon colors of corals, if I ever do a salty tank I'd want a FOWLR - beautiful tank John. I just have to mention how much I love the plants on the top shelf- you and Lisa have The Old Fish House looking gorgeous! Love the debate footage- Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life 💕👍

Banggai cardinals are a very Hardy, easy to keep fish. Will readily breed, and they are mouthbrooders. When fry are free-swimming, they are very easy to care for. Glad to see that you have a store with a knowledgeable staff to help you!
If you have room for it to grow, Hippo tangs, aka Pallete tangs (Dory) are awesome. They do grow to about a foot long when mature.

As a committed freshwater guy for 50+ years I finally took the plunge into the "salty" world three years ago. Here at the end of the supply chain in Rapid City, South Dakota (yes, in spite of the Internet and mail order) have been there, done it for three years. Great experience. I found it time and labor intensive (speaking from someone who keeps discus) not to mention the need for a VERY health bank account. Great experience but I will probably not swim in that salty pond again - that is until my personal economy improver - cheers from Rapid City, South Dakota.

Nice selections! I've always loved how beautiful saltwater fish are overall, but I've never gotten into the hobby for a couple reasons.
A: More expenses and labor. I'd have no choice but to set up an RO system to even think about keeping a saltwater tank. My tap water in Colorado is fantastic for fresh.
B: Visually, I find natural planted freshwater tanks to be far more soothing to the nerves.
Regardless, I look forward to seeing how your venture(s) into saltwater goes!

So grateful that the fish prices here in Indonesia are so cheap, coz a lot of em' originally come from here..
For example, Bangai Cardinal $1, Blue Devil Damsel $1, Foxface $4, Dori $6, Ocellaris Clown fish $2, Powder Blue Tang $6, Sailfin $7, Scopas Tang $3, even Green Reef Chromis 70c or other variety of Damsel is around $1.

I'm gonna be honest. I don't transition to saltwater because I'm broke AF and saltwater requires expensive equipment and considerable bigger tank than a freshwater planted tank. Saltwater turned out to be easy, but way more expensive. Ever think about a fish indentification segment or series? It might be time consuming, depending on how many entries you get, but it would be entertaining, and educational. I had cichlid that had the same markings/pattern as a cichlasoma salvini, but pearl blue instead of yellow/orange. If you posted an email address to send in entries, it would be cool.. Thanks, guys.

Love your video, also wanted to say your right, people are afraid. I've been doing freshwater for over 30 years and never crossed over until one year ago because I was afraid, intimidated and simply didn't think I could. I now have a 65-gal reef and 2- 15-gal nano reef tanks and of course 4 freshwater tanks. I also own a T-shirt that says "Divorcing my wife one aquarium at a time" LOL
