In my lake it’s overgrown almost everywhere so u have to stand on a little bridge above the water it’s not deeper then 1M so you can see big tench and bream swimming you see how they react to your baits and when they take it
I'm just gittin psyched up for the coming season ... 😎👍 🙄😏 I like to use a free-running feeder & a 12" or longer hooklength to put a bit of space between the feeder & the hook. I then put a small shot about 3 or 4" from the hook & pop up my hair-rigged bait, usually strawberry/pineapple dipped plastic-corn or real corn & maggots ... I'm fishing wild fish on a big lake here in Ireland so the fish are (I find at least) rather wary of feeders... Tight lines lads ! 😬 😎👍☘🍺
Absolutely worth a look will be meeting Hassan Khan and some of the team in October for the charity talk called the big talk in Doncaster October the 6th
How to find the tench in a predominately carp filled water? Say 10 carp to 1 tench. Worm kebabs get constant perch and other niggles, boilies and corn get the carp. It’s always tough to get a tench
Hi Terry, shallow areas of the lake close to weed are normally a magnet for tench. If small fish such as perch, Rudd and roach are a nuisance when using baits such as maggots and worms try using fake maggots or rubber casters as a hook bait. Let the tench tell you where to fish by looking for signs of rolling fish early in the morning. On most larger pits tench can be packed up tightly in certain areas especially in the spring time. Good luck...
The Advanta RVS rods are perfect for tench fishing. They are available in different test curves. The 11 foot 1.25lb Tc would be perfect on smaller lakes. www.anglingdirect.co.uk/advanta-discovery-rvs-twin-tip-rods?queryID=dfb67d1d6e169defb556d6ca7693ed38&objectID=95131&indexName=live_ad_uk_products
Alex Brown it might be worth trying boilies for the tench as that will often single out the bigger fish. But quite often the secret to catching bigger fish of any species is to fish a venue that has big fish in! Good luck...
Strange this???? You were promoting the in-line feeder method for its better presentation, yet that small tench 1/2 way through WAS NOT caught on the in-line method??🤔
Hi Ken, Phil prefers the in-line maggot feeder set-up for most of his tench fishing, and on that particular day, Stephen 'Widget' Crowe was using a helicopter approach.
Love catching these for our Easter dinner. Lovely with lemon and potatoes. Been a tradition for 30 years now.
Tight lines

Must be very exciting, and a great way to learn their feeding habits.
