    I purchased the 9006 Spectre cold air intake. I dont know which kit you had but all the clamps in my kit were way too big to get anything locked down. I used the old clamps from my GMC intake to get the air tube fastened down and had to go to the parts store and purchase the remaining ones. Will see how well it does.

    Heat shield didn’t fit the best but I got it done in an hour!

    I've never understood open "cold" air intakes that take in more hot air form the engine bay than stock air boxes which are sealed and only pull in cold outside air.

    there is something very wrong with that 5.3, its supposed to make 355hp

    • @84iceman84ify
      @84iceman84ify 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      355hp is flywheel hp not rear wheel hp

    • @k.hamilton5848
      @k.hamilton5848 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Heagley it doesnt lose 80 hp though from the wheels to the crank

    • @RifleRiverProductions
      @RifleRiverProductions 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With an assumed, and reasonable, drivetrain loss of 20% through an automatic transmission...355hp at the crank should be 284whp. So it’s not far off of the 277whp.
      For comparison sake. The ‘99 5.3L was rated at 285hp. Numerous dyno figures showed 210-225whp. About a 20-23% drivetrain loss.
      This is common for any vehicle. Trucks have larger and heavier axles, driveshafts and such that drivetrain loss is a bit more.

      At the crank it makes 355. It does 372 at the crank after

    • @k.hamilton5848
      @k.hamilton5848 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lilkp 07 to the wheels. Probably about 300-310+ to the crank

    I bought this kit and its garbage. The clamps dont fit the pipes, the filter slides off the velocity stack and the couplers are crap. Do not recommend at all...

    • @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC
      @AmericanTrucksChevyGMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, this dyno test we ran was on our 5.3L V8. When our 2014 was brand new, I'm sure it did make closer to 355HP to the crank. But because of age and drivetrain loss, we recorded 277HP. Crank horsepower and wheel horsepower will never be the same number because of drivetrain loss. -Zach

    Do not buy this! I installed mine yesterday regardless of all the reviews I saw about the clamps being bad and the filter falling off because I wanted to see for myself. 2 days in and the filter just slips right off when you’re driving. Yes, installing it was super easy but honestly, installing most cold air intakes is super easy. In the box comes a big piece of paper with a phone number and says not to return to store but when you call the phone number, it’s disconnected. This intake is just not a good design. Do not buy.

      Total garbage!!!!!
      K&n bought them and pretry much is like getting something from shein or temu lmao
      Had mine packaged and waiting for ups guy to pick it up, will be getting a refund and mind as well add extra 200 for k&n vs stressing about that pos filter falling off.
      It had slipped off every freaking time i hit the highway and making a stop to check. I have tightened it hand full times and i notice the hotter your engine or under your hood gets the plastic part (around the filter that is snugged onto the cai tube being clamped), the plastic part when the clamp squeezes softens which is like a soft rubber that just slips off. So your filter isnt really secured.
      I dont know if the clamp has to be wider cus it only clamps hald of that rubber and the rubber shapes up ans softens as it gets hot, again, making the filter slip off.
