    1. mindfulness - can be meditation, morning pages, vitamins, anything to be present in your thoughts
    2. movement - exercise, skincare, getting up to get water
    3. mastery - get creative, read, review goals

My morning routine (if anyone wants to use it)
    Wake up at 5:30am
    Read for 15-20 mins
    10-15 min stretch
Journaling in the morning- how I feel and how I want the day to go
    Skincare routine
    Eat breakfast
Brush teeth, get dressed, do hair
    9:15 am start school

    1. mindfulness - Taking thyroid meds, showering and getting snuggle time in with my dog.
    2. movement - cooking breakfast, taking my dog out, light stretching.
    3. mastery - listening to podcasts on topics of interest.
I didn’t really realize that I had already created a morning routine that worked for me until your last couple of videos. I thought I was failing at a successful morning routine because reading and writing morning pages made me feel too rushed. But I’ve actually had a successful morning routine for years. I’d just never thought of it in those terms. Thanks for delving deeper into the topic and really explaining in a broader sense. 😊

I think the secret is create a morning routine that you love, feeling excited and motivated every day to wake up and do something that you love, being present in the moment and setting intentions, having a why and enjoying the moment, enjoying life ! ♡

  • @jeanne_guitton
    @jeanne_guitton 5 ปีที่แล้ว +117

I'd say most people with very small children don't get to do the first half hour to hour of the day on their own terms (unless you're happy to wake at half three to beat them to it). I think part of a successful morning routine for people with children (or very demanding pets) and outside-of-the-home jobs is acceptance. We bloody well chose this life, so there's no reason to whine. In that sense, running around for someone else first thing in the morning isn't a failed routine in my eyes, it's caretaking, which we chose to do for a couple of years (and yes, I will enjoy it immensely when it's over and there's more time for me again, but for now, it's good). For me, that includes mindfulness (feeling the warmth of my child in my arms, enjoying their cuddles and their smell) as well as movement (getting everything ready). I will admit though that mastery is getting slightly neglected these days, though I like to reflect on my goals and what I can do to meet them on that particular day.

Very well said. I can’t think of anything more mindful than hugging a child and smelling their warm sweet scent. Mastery for a busy parent is “mastering” the care and love that children need to thrive. Being mindful and watching a little person “master” life is the most rewarding of any routine.

Amy, I get the idea 💡 of starting the day with a buffer of time to have time to spend as I choose. Getting a full night's rest does mean trading night hours for that morning time. Maybe I am more effective in the morning and may feel better at 8 after doing a few other things before working. I am likely to simply take longer to get ready after waking up early.
I would organize my closet, try on several pieces, use more time for hair nails etc. Two hours between 5 and 7 could be work out time, daily planning time or journal time. I'm more likely to do house keeping. Yet, it is a target or goal for when the nights are spent setting the stage for taking back the morning.

Thanks for this! I just reorganize things that i do on the morning and i add up things that i didnt catch up lately. So these are mine-
Movement: wake up on the morning, takes my water bottle and drink some water. Gratitude, showering and prayers.
Movement: make breakfast. Take a walk outside the house. Light exercise.
Mastery: read ideas/ articles, cooking ideas
I usually open my phone and with the thought i'll read articles but i dont. So i'd forget to drink water (even though the bottle is just beside my bed! And yeah, the rest morning routine became messed up and i usually would be so rushed on the morning) so i hope i'll consistent, nah i'll do it! I'll love to do it every morning. ☺️ Tqsm for this💕✨

    *Mindfulness*: Meditation and journaling
*Movement*: Taking the bird feeders outside and greeting the new day. I love this ritual, even though it came about from a pesky raccoon. (Thank you, pesky raccoon!)
*Mastery*: This is the missing piece in my morning routine. I don't know when I came to equate reading with luxury. I notice a huge difference in myself when I take the time to read. Even if I "allow" myself 15 minutes in the morning, I feel that would be great. I also love the idea of learning a language with that time. I've been wanting to learn Italian for almost a decade. Maybe mindfulness, for example, looks different for me on different days (prayer on one day, morning pages on another), but the fact that I’m incorporating the same “buckets” every day gives my mornings a sense of ritual or sameness which I find very comforting.

As for the morning routine, I have this:
    1. mindfulness - meditation, review goals (I still think it's sorta mindfulness for me because I use my photo album with goals as a picture I would have in my head during meditation), morning pages
    2. movement - stretching in bed, drinking water, taking a shower... not pretty much I guess :D but I do some cleaning in the kitchen as well and dry my hair for a long time... I just should resume my exercises

I HATE mornings. I'm such an owl. But, I'd like to be more productive. I'm so groggy in the mornings I need to do some kind of movement first or I'll just fall back asleep. I tried working out in the morning, but it doesn't motivate me to get up. I think I like the stretching idea. I also like the morning pages. I'll have to think of something for the mastery. I do get up every morning to give my daughter a kiss good-bye (she's in middle school) but I usually go back to sleep. I'll make myself stay up to stretch & drink water, and then I'll journal, eat breakfast (something I absolutely need to do close to when I wake up) and then do some sort of mastery thing. Then I'll exercise. Let's see if this works for me. Thank you for the tips!

My mindful would be my morning pages, that is something I really want to get into, my movement would probably be some stretching, I am noticing my tend to get very tense and locked up so I think it would help. That could also be a form of mindfulness. My mastery is actually where I am a little stumped but I think listening to one of my motivational videos or figuring out my plans for the books I want to write and seeing what I need to do to get that done from both a writing and business perspective. I have also been wanting to start a book themed Instagram account as I am so passionate about reading and want to share that with everyone, finding a way to put myself out there.

When you rewrite your goals every morning, are you just writing your goals for that day? How do you prioritize which you write out each day to avoid the overwhelm of a really long list?

In my opinion, I believe it comes down to MIT's (Most Important Tasks). That's the only way to avoid the overwhelm.

Good evening, good life Amy! Thank you for this video, I feel like these three recommendations are a great way to start working on a better, healthier, more productive morning rootine. I think I'll with movement by stretching in bed for several minutes, then I aim to be mindful during my skincare, and I want (need) to spend at least five minutes reading material dedicated to my thesis. Looking forward to trying it out! Lots of love, admiration and gratitude from France 😘

I’m such a morning routines/waking up early videos junky. For mindfulness and movement, I usually practice yoga and meditation in the morning. I think the mastery part usually comes after my initial morning routine once I’m dressed and stuff but it’s still morning so I’m fresh to focus on things.

I have 7 children. Ages 1 to 16.my 1yr old and two year old are home during the week and others are in school. My time is based on them but I'm hoping i can create a morning routine involving them while also having my own routine. I take care of them first of course but what would you suggest that may help my morning routine??

I used to sleep til the last minute and rush, now I get up and walk around the block with my Dad every morning, but because I’m still living with my parents, I find it hard to make a routine for me and works for them (aka not waking them up when I get up earlier, not enough space in the kitchen to all make breakfast at the same time, yet parents feeling upset if I don’t eat at the same time as them)...so I guess I’m a work in progress?

I found out that even if I wake up at 4 or 5 AM and do some stuff to be more productive then my main problem is not mornings but actually afternoons. I tend to crash very easily after my work. I come back home, I eat dinner then I just have to take a nap. Not always but a lot of times. That's when I actually sleep for 8 hours bc I like to stay with that particular routine.

So my issue is- alarm goes off at 5am; then too scared to get out of bed because it’s so warm and cosy and actually leaving the bed is an awful movement. BUT, 10 mins being out and away from my bed I’m fine! It’s the initial rising is my biggest let down, it can take me up to 40 mins later to get out and then the self loathing happens!

Is gaming considered a mindful action? Thinking of the suitable strategy and trying to be smart and avoid being hit by enemy attacks.. Doesn't work every time but when it did, it's the only thing that got me up the time I wanted..!! And then I would say "now you've played, time for your chores and studying". Good girl.
You are very sweet and keep me motivated,. I just haven't found my real motives just yet. :/

Can you do a video exclusively about morning pages inspiration? To be perfectly honest I don't really have any thoughts until I've been awake for like at least 2 hours, LOL. All I think in the first 2 hours of my day is WHERE MY COFFEH, PLAY MY JAM and HOW LOOK HALF-PRESENTABLE.

Discipline - seems simple but many people are not even disaplined enough to even wake up early.

    • @mschrisfrank2420

Miguel Romero Discipline is an illusion. Using your will power is exhausting, forming a habit using whatever ways reduce friction for the individual is how to get things to happen on autopilot-which looks like discipline from the outside.

I have a problem. I can't do things I enjoy or relax if I haven't done some work. I wake up and try to drink my tea, spend some time drawing or whatever and I find myself stressing out or judging me because I spend time not working or not cleaning or not focusing on my responsibilities etc. Any advice? I really want to have a calming morning routine but the constant guilt and self judgement is tiring so I end up starting my day with stress and eventually boredom.
    I appreciate your channel!

Hi, I totally understand you. I also like to be productive and feel guilty if I don't work on something I could call "being productive". I'm going to tell you what halped me. You could try to schedule the things you need to do, all your work, responsibilities etc. and then, when you see in your calendar that you actually have time to do all the work, you will feel more relaxed in the morning. You won't feel guilty about making this morning time only about you, about things you enjoy because you will know that everything else will still get to be done, since you scheduled it (it has to be realistic). I hope I helped a little bit. :)
