I am pleasantly surprised to see the little sweetheart still around! I sure hope he beats the odds. But even if he doesn’t, at least his last days were warm and cared for. He’s such a dear little thing.
People who care for sickly baby animals know the joy of seeing a wee in the bedding! It at least means the kidneys and bladder are going, somewhat. Hes still not looking good though. Poor lil guy. Was hoping hed be interested in milk by this point. At least you got a lil in him.
I want to say that making it through the night is a positive sign, but he's still not looking so good, is he? Poor little boy... He's getting the best care possible, so I'm still hopeful.
Dear Meg will keep him protected and whatever happens she won't let baby Saltash suffer. God bless her and Dear Lord, he is but one more "sparrow" You will watch over. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hang in there little one! Keeping my fingers crossed but my expectations tempered; don't need to read the description to know he's in pretty rough shape. Hopefully he rounds a corner and decides he wants to live. 🥺
I'm hoping this is just Salt's Squide Before the Storm, but his lethargy is making me nervous, especially with the suckling bit. He's giving it his best, though, it seems. But, hey, he's officially a pee-er! Yay!!
One day I hope to also care for animals in their times of need, no matter the outcome. When many of these babies lose their mums it's due to humans so giving them all care and a chance at life is the least we can do ❤
I feel better that he has had a wee, and got through a night, but the poor little guy is trying so hard to make it. I just want to give him the strength to come through this. He does try to hang onto your thumb, and while he isn’t looking a lot better, he doesn’t appear to have gotten worse.✨🖤🇨🇦
Haha, I like the toilet lid being open, and I've never dropped anything into the toilet, so I guess I'll just wait till I do and amend my practice then. Caltrops threw his dummy into the toilet once; he had it stuck on his nose and in attempting to remove it he flung it off and it landed in the toilet. A bit of sterilising and it was good as new.
@@Megabattie LOL Meg, I remember when Caltrops did that. He did have a special way of holding his dummy. So many of them develop unique idiosyncrasies that make us remember them long after they are out in the wild being bats doing bat things.🖤🇨🇦
@@Megabattie Are there any burns to the bats skin? If not, your veterinarian should first administer either Morphine fentanyl, buprenorphine, or oxymorphone. Potassium levels need to be monitored for the first 24 hours to assess hyperkalemia associated to cells' destruction into the burned tissues. Solutions with contents of 4-5 mEq/L of potassium are recommended during this phase. Also, Check out serum protein levels, urine production, hematocrit level, hemoglobin, electrolytes, and blood gases. If total protein drops below 3 gm/dl, fresh plasma or colloids should be added. Acidosis can be corrected with sodium bicarbonate; 5 mEq/kg of body weight may be given every hour or 30 minutes. If hematocrit falls below 20% or hemoglobin falls below 7 gm/dl, whole blood or washed red blood cells must be added to the treatment. Hct above 30% is the goal. Internal infection will require antibiotics. Skin Scar tissue more than likely will not be treatable internally. Find the burn area and clip any hair away. If there is necrotic tissue, it needs to be removed. Depending on how much will determine whether or not euthanasia would be necessary. Your veterinarian can make that call. Another potential problem is Sepsis, SIRS and septic shock. Make sure it is receiving the correct amount of electrolytes intravenously along with the correct amount of fluids per weight. Let’s hope that it can formula for the next few days. Keep monitoring for any dehydration. It is common to lose the animal for this type of potential burn. Good luck with your patient.
@@Megabattie i did that but they said no to PICC line, old fashioned yellow butterfly needle. And lower right arm in bucket of warm water. Heat pad as extra. Veins are not good. Mum has itchy fingers wants to help but i send her to get a tea and biscuit.
The teats squash flat the size of their mum's nipple. If he takes the dummy with no problem then the teat is also fine. He's just not coordinating his suck/swallow, and he's very weak and squidgy
Poor little guy is barely hanging on it seems. I hope he surprised us all and starts coming around ❤
He seems lethargic today. 😢. Hang in there little one. ❤

Given every chance, often the most important is the time Megabattie gives, heart and soul.
Megabattie your gentle care looks just like little Saltash needs. I hope he gets better soon. 🦇🍼💗
Come on Saltash...You can do it - 'Fight! Fight!' 😚 Love is sent to you little guy😘
Another video, another day, now on to the next on. Passing on encouragement, in my grandmothers' sicilian accent, little by little.

I' m glad to see this baby today, I still hope he recovers, day by day❤He' s particularly gorgeous!!
Not knowing what might happen is very hard. What I do know is, Saltash won't suffer if his condition changes.

There is an example of a mammal that popped up during the Eocene era (50 million years ago). Incredible! 🦇🦇

I get anxiety seeing the toilet lid open afraid something will drop into it.

If he eats and does his business, he stands a chance if he doesn't develop pneumonia or something else.
If he doesn't have any internal burns...

Ok, now my chemo needs adjusting, delayed by a day. That gem totally burned my veins. 3rd pair of meds. Ct scan + contrast to follow.
Get them to put a portacath in for the duration of the chemo, or a PICC line
