We’ve camped at Bone creek on the North shore of Ft Peck. Smallmouth around islands during spring spawning season. Walleye and Pike as well. He is right about the weather warning. Big lake and big winds can really create dangerous wave conditions.
This was before Ft Peck was discovered as a Walleye lake. Back in the day, we’d see just a few boats. Now, there’s a boat on every point,it seems. The Rattle Trap he showed was a killer bait.

I listened to it three times stuck in Chicago traffic. It was the most amazingly enjoyable tragic jam of my entire life. I can’t wait to actually be able to look at the screen and play it once more. That might be the best presentation I have ever heard on ANY topic. I wish you had been my teacher in high school. I probably would have turned out a lot better. Thank you...Amazing. there may have been a few men with as much knowledge when I was young. But you could not pry it out of them with a crowbar. You are amazingly articulate and even more amazingly generous. God bless you and all you love; and may everyone you encounter be as generous with you as you have been with us.

Outstanding information! There were things I’ve never considered before and even baits I wouldn’t have thought worthy, even while I’m expanding my horizons in the fishing world and trying new techniques and approaches. This summer, I’ve found spots full of good walleye I have passed a thousand times as nothing. The lake changed a lot this year, too, but really, I’m glad it really made me look twice at everything. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I appreciate it!

would love you to highlight the king fishery in both bodies. When I come out I target kings. it aint easy but would like some tips as they are very different than Michigan or sea run kings out west. Great video and thanks.

Wow! Thanks for sharing all of that info!! Moved to ND last fall and this is my first season fishing both lakes. Learned more in your video than dozens of the others I've watched combined! Haven't fished the west end of the lake yet, may definitely get in touch next spring about a guide trip!

Ft Peck.... in one word.... PATTERNS... Lakers move deep at this time of the year (mid May) and jigging points and down rigging deeper ridges are key; walleyes move generally in a regular pattern from shallower ends of the lake to deeper summertime structures. You have to be ready to move if you aren't seeing and forage clouds on your depth finder... smallmouth bass and pike patterns generally reflect the location at different regions of the reservoir (there is no one-size-fits-all approach) fishing patterns do differ greatly where you decide to fish. The Big Dry Arm has a mix of classic walleye and pike fishing patterns (differs from say Spring Creek and Boxelder Creek to McGuire and Nelson Creek), the Main Arm is a mix of deep almost Canadian lake like fishing from Duck Creek, the Pines, and Gilbert Creek to more traditional patterns from Sutherland and Hell Creek down to almost Forchette Creek.
