Futuristic Digital Reel VS. Old Vintage Reel -- Fishing CHALLENGE

- The ultimate fishing reel show down!! How big of a difference is it to fish with a 30+ year old fishing and put it to the test against to an alien tech fishing reel? Chris and I decided to hit up a local 200 acre lake after our smallmouth creek mission to put these two reels to the test and see how they compare in the form of a challenge. The stakes were high in the 1v1 reel battle..whoever caught the least amount of fish after 3 hours had to guzzle down a live minnow from a nearby bait store. My wife bought me a Daiwa PMA1000 in 1986. After all these years of fishing, I honestly have to say it has caught more fish than any other reel I own. Needless to say I love these old Daiwas and with proper care they will last a lifetime. By the way I still have that old Daiwa, and it is still running strong! Thanks Honey.

I know I’m late to this party, but what I learned from this video is that all that super expensive reels and rods mean jack sh*t when it comes to landing bass. It seems to be more about finding a spot where the bass are and knowing how to fish very well. I love it was a Daiwa casting reel. I’m old and remember when Japanese fishing companies began selling in the USA back in the 1970s. Back then they made better gear than all the American brands like Penn, Shakespeare, Mitchell, Jebco, and other top of the line Abu Garcia from Sweden. Daiwa and Shimano changed everything about quality to price point. And there were no Senkos and all other most used baits. However, the rubber frog hasn’t changed much since someone first thought to make one. LOL

Jon, you should bring back the quick tips! I've just recently gotten really into bass fishing, and I want to learn more about different lures and techniques to catch fish! most of the other tip videos are 15-20 minutes long, but it would be awesome if you did something like you did with the quick tips! techniques to work the baits, colors, areas to target and stuff like that would be really cool
Got 2 of those Procasters and believe it or not one has never been used. Never had line on it. Bought 2 outfits at a fishing show and the second still sits in a rod rack just like when I bought it 30 plus years ago, nice video

I bought one on the Diawa Magforce reels. I think was 1984 with the matching graphite Rod. Can't remember exactly which year but it was my birthday thought. Still works like new. But I suck at baitcasting. GREAT VLOG. Greetings from Goulburn NSW Australia
