Hello again, Abi! I'm glad to find you again reacting to Nightwish's music, this time to the last track from the band's latest album, Yesterwynde (released recently, on September 20, 2024 - that's the reason why there is no live performance of this song yet) If you take a look at the lyrics, you will understand the emotional meaning of the theme (... to which you reacted emotionally...) perfectly rendered by Floor, which touches the universe of loved ones who now live only in our memories, as well as our connection with them In the hope that you will continue exploring this true musical universe, created and performed by Nightwish for more than a quarter of a century, you have a new subscriber here. Greetings from Romania!
@@Abigirl_Reacts Also, I hope you're not impatient because the band is not touring right away. They're being very protective of Floor's health. She's got a baby girl, number two.

This song is from an album called Yesterwynde only released in September and will not be toured. The most recent tour 22/23 featured songs from previous albums. During which Floor was diagnosed with breast cancer and received treatment and continued the tour even after discovering her pregnancy. She had to stop in late June and gave birth to Lucy in October. Only six weeks after the birth she recorded all the songs for this album in six days !!
@@Abigirl_Reacts Tuomas considers it both an elegy and a celebration of the man's life. Floor had a hard time recording this one because of the emotional content ... there's still a tear in her eye at one point in the final cut. (There's usually one in mine as well, every time I listen.)
Lovely reaction! Song is from their new album, Yesterwynde, that was released on 9/20 so no live versions yet and it will probably be awhile since Nightwish announced back in 2023 that they wouldn't be touring in support of the album. Instead they have released 3 music videos and 1 lyric video. IMO the whole album is amazing and best listened to in order. Male voice (harmonies and solo) was Troy Donockley, the mutli-instrumentalist Englishman who became a full member in 2012 along with Floor. He comes from the traditional Irish/Celtic music world and often adds a folky feel to songs. He was not on stage for Ghost Love Score. Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "Auri is a side project of Tuomas, Troy, and Tuomas's wife Johanna Kurkela ( a well known Finnish pop/folk singer) that makes beautiful atmospheric mood music. I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. A beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father and all that are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. Checkout Ocean of Strange Islands lyric video to get a more traditional Nightwish vibe. Since you enjoyed Tuomas's symphonic compositional skills here you should checkout All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World. It is a 30 minute straight up orchestral piece in 8 movements that makes up all of Disc 2 of the Human Nature album. For Auri songs I would checkout Desert Flower. The Space Between, and The Valley.
Parts of this comment could be written by me 😁 I have made similar comments on other reaction videos to songs from this wonderful album. I agree, "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me "Our Decades In the Sun" vibes as well. And speaking of Auri, this album, Yesterwynde, feels like a hybrid between Nightwish and Auri. It's almost as if Tuomas is trying to merge the two, to turn them into one. "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World" should be listened/reacted to in one go, preferably together with the Nightwish approved fan made video. Tuomas has another side project, called "The Life And Times of Scrooge" which is sort of a soundtrack to the graphic novel about Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa. It's also worth a listen, the songs "A Lifetime of Adventure", "The Last Sled" and "To Be Rich" are among my favorites on that album.
I was fortunate enough to see the last two Nightwish show's at Kitee and Vaasa in Finland last year where Floor performed heavily pregnant. She sang magnificently, reaching notes a woman with a new life inside her should not have been able to reach, indeed she collapsed after the Vassa show and was taken to hospital, thankfully, both mother and baby were ok and Floor gave birth to Lucy, her second girl, just a few week's later. You will not find a live version of this or any other song from their new album, Yesterwynde because Nightwish are taking a rest and will not tour the album. Toumas and his recording team went to Floor's home studio in Sweden to record the vocals, she was given two weeks to complete the takes and dispite having given birth just six weeks before and having to feed the baby and being in pain while standing, completed the vocals in six day's! Toumas wrote Laternlight following the passing of his father, it's such an emotional song, emotions which Floor felt while singing it, stopping several times to shed a tear. Ultimately, the song is a celebration of a long life well lived and the legacy, we, as people leave to the next generations. Floor, who is from the Netherlands is married to Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl and lives with their two daughters, Freya and Lucy in Sweden. A Valkyrie Queen and a truly nice lady, greetings from the Scottish Highlands.
It took me a little while for example, to notice that the 4 times "hey" she does in the Wacken 2013 GLS are 4 distinct "screams". They are all slightly different, and there's little doubt in my mind that this is a deliberate act on her part. This is just one example. Another one is the way she holds back, almost softens, almost protectively sings "childhood" (in "Redeem me into childhood") near the end of GLS. And contrast that with "say" in "I’ll be there when you say" 3 lines later. And there's so much more. And this is just one song ... 😊
I've been a Floor fan since Forever After. She has been through so much. If her voice doesn't blow you away.. her whole personality will. She is so powerful yet so humble.. sensitive and real. Tuomas is the heart and soul of Nightwish. He found his match and voice in Floor 🙏
Tuomas wrote this just after his father died. He said this: "The last song on the album, Lanternlight, might fool you into thinking it's a sad song, but it's actually a love song and ends up on a very positive vibe. This is off their new album, they haven't toured it yet...and they aren't going to tour for some time. I think I can speak for most NW fans to say that we YEARN to hear this beautiful masterpiece done LIVE!
Nightwish will always surprise - from Celtic folk to thrash metal and everything in between. Any song in the Wacken 2013 concert is gold and a good way to sample their versatility. Floor had only been with Nightwish for 10 months. She and Troy, the second vocalist here, officially joined the band that same year.
@@Abigirl_Reacts It would be better to ask if there was an instrument he didn't play. @billmorrison8292, below, lists the ones he uses most often. They add beautiful and unique sounds to instrumental mix.
When you get to watch more of their catalog, you will realize (almost) all their music is a journey through the mind of Tuomas (on keys). I'd recommend to always check the date the song was written to see what chapter you are in 'the book of Tuomas'.
This is hauntingly beautiful. Floor's voice is like a warm blanket wrapped gently around your soul. She is an enchantress - she draws you in, enthralls and seduces you. Whenever I'm listening to her, either with Nightwish or without, I'm either grinning like a maniac or wiping a tear out of my eye. Music is the sound of emotions. Tuomas understands this, Floor (and Nightwish) personify this - perfectly!! All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.
Another masterpiece that also includes Troy is "Shoemaker". It is a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker, a NASA scientist, who, to date, is the only person whose ashes are on the moon! Suggest you listen to the official lyric video first and then, when you have realised that it would be impossible for Floor to sing it live, listen to a live version. I'd suggest the live version at Hellfest.
The Shoemaker was hard enough that Floor couldn't nail it even in the studio and the audio for the album release was recorded in her home studio after additional practice. After that she practiced it enough to perform it live, too.
This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of the Dorrity line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Floor's gestures in this work are a language unto itself - such love and tenderness, so expressive. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.
My personal song of the year 2024. Top 3 in my NW rating. Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep in the finnish winter outside in the woods and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable. Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!
Nightwish Army Cleveland, Ohio Division reporting. If you can listen to this song, and not shed a tear, then you are not human. Lanternlight is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The only way this video could be any better is if you could actually see Troy and Tuomas. But I think Tuomas intended it to be a showcase for our Goddess Floor. And her performance here shows just how truly amazing she is. More Nightwish please.
@@jeffstewart454 I have been a fan of Nightwish for over 20 years. I saw the band with Tarja right before the split. I love Tarja as well, but Goddess Floor has taken them to another level.
It's about people who have passed away but are seen again in the daily things we do. They are always with you in everything you see and hear. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Scottish Division checking in.....Floor and the boys maybe called Nightwish, but they are simply an experience every song!.......Everyone has their emotions tugged at some point!...so special!
This one got to Floor too. She is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and it took her several takes to get through this song as it was tweaking her emotions. 😄🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts If you look closely after she sings the last 'lanternlight' near the end of the song you will see that on the next frame there is a tear under her right eyelid. I love this song. 🥲
Sadly no live performances of those songs yet and won’t be for a while as no plans to tour yet, this is off the new album that came out recently. It’s a beautiful song 💙
You should check out the song "Hows the Heart" Live acoustic for planet Rock. Then you will see Troy, and how Floor can deliver live spectacularly. Also, Everdream from the Wacken concert is wonderful. And to see Troy playing his pipes, the song "I want my tears back" Live at Buenos Aires. Awesome audience and performance! 😊
Within Nightwish songs the lyrics are also important because of the power they have… a lot of songs are emotional (everyone has another one) - this one is sad and hopeful together because the content is about the dead of a loved person… so take a look on the lyrics and watch it again. You will be surprised what will happen to you… it’s more emotional than before… 👍‼️🏆
The male voice is Troy, if you want to hear more of him i recommend The Carpenter live and Harvest live, you will see him in most of the live concerts with the pipes.
Wait till you check out some of their other live performances, and the diversity of Thomas's compositions. From Bangers to pop sounding stuff, to things with a Celtic sound. And Floor can sing anything, and change it on a dime. Been listening to music for over 5 decades, and have seen no one with her ability, to sing different styles and do all them excellently and effortlessly.
Did you hear the Harp strum with the strings leading into the orchestra build up? Tuomas uses the harp a lot in his orchestra arrangements. Later, the brass joins in and the rest of the orchestra comes in with the crescendo. The orchestra and choirs are big in the new album.
How unlucky for those who have not yet discovered the magic that is Nightwish. Hopefully performances like this amazing piece of musical art, and the continuing efforts of reactors like yourself Abi, many more will be made aware of the energy and joy this amazing band brings to so many.🤘🤘 Just an incredible adventure in songwriting and performance👍👍
This song is brand new from the new album, so there won't be a live version for at least a year and a half (they have a break from touring). I do suspect Lanternlight will be on a setlist at some point though as it seems to be pretty popular. Nightwish will knock your socks off if you like them this much already. Keep going. Which direction do you want to take, the new album or live performances? If you want to do some lives for a while, I recommend Romanticide from Wacken 2013 so you'll get to check out the harder side of Nightwish as well. Either way I'll be tuning in to watch/listen. 🔥🤘🔥
There is no live performance of the album as of right now! I don't think that they are going to tour in 2025....Flour might, as she sometimes tours when the Nightwish doesn't. I have heard that Floor is going into the studio to record her second album! You should get a copy of her first album, "Paragon"...it's fantastic! _And yes, there are more than a few Tear besides on her LP! I would suggest you listen to " Fire" and "My Paragon."
@ Troy is a member of Nightwish since 2013. He is the multi instrumentalist, can play every instrument, but mainly known as the wizard of Ulinnean pipes.

I have to say, you are a beautiful woman to watch reacting to Nightwish videos. I’ve seen you reacting to a few Nightwish songs now (not necessarily in your order of reacting), and I had to adjust just a little, but now I can see how Nightwish, and especially “your” Floor 😉 got hold of you, straight up pierced your heart, and probably will never let you go. You’re totally in love with this woman, in the good way, obviously. This is so nice to see … ☺️ Will wait for more. Just go through everything they have, in any order you like. @@Abigirl_Reacts Don't worry about those people too much. Do some introspection, adjust where you feel it necessary, and leave it at that. When you get to watch more of their catalog, you will realize (almost) all their music is a journey through the mind of Tuomas (on keys). I'd recommend to always check the date the song was written to see what chapter you are in 'the book of Tuomas'.
Thank you for the feedback! ^_^
My favorite song in my 63 years .Makes me cry every damn time
We are in the and boat then haha
This is hauntingly beautiful. Floor's voice is like a warm blanket wrapped gently around your soul. She is an enchantress - she draws you in, enthralls and seduces you. Whenever I'm listening to her, either with Nightwish or without, I'm either grinning like a maniac or wiping a tear out of my eye. Music is the sound of emotions. Tuomas understands this, Floor (and Nightwish) personify this - perfectly!! All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.
I was so full of emotions! Thanks for watching ^_^
So interesting!
I second this recommendation wholeheartedly.
The Shoemaker was hard enough that Floor couldn't nail it even in the studio and the audio for the album release was recorded in her home studio after additional practice. After that she practiced it enough to perform it live, too.
Nightwish doing Nightwish things! Welcome to the journey that you are on.
Thanks for having me! Happy to be here ^_^
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 When you know about the content/context of this album (and also the 2 albums before) you WILL CRY MORE. No chance to escape.
I bet!
My favourite song off the album Yesterwynde and Troys harmonies just add that magical touch.Great reaction Abi❤
Thanks for watching ^_^
It truly is poetry, simply beautiful !
Hey Abigirl, I have no words for this Masterpiece...💜thank you Tuomas, thanks Nightwish, Floor and Troy....Amazing
Thank you indeed!
The male voice is Troy, a fellow Brit. He also plays the whistle at the end of the track
Multi talented!
Thanks for watching ^_^
Nightwish Army Cleveland, Ohio Division reporting. If you can listen to this song, and not shed a tear, then you are not human. Lanternlight is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The only way this video could be any better is if you could actually see Troy and Tuomas. But I think Tuomas intended it to be a showcase for our Goddess Floor. And her performance here shows just how truly amazing she is. More Nightwish please.
I'm happy I'm human hehe
I wholeheartedly agree. Good to see fans in the U.S. I live near Philadelp[hia but lived in Dayton for 9 years befoe that.
That's a beautiful message!
Great reaction to a great band. No matter what era you listen to its all great!!!
I agree 💯 %
Scottish Division checking in.....Floor and the boys maybe called Nightwish, but they are simply an experience every song!.......Everyone has their emotions tugged at some point!...so special!
💯
This one got to Floor too. She is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and it took her several takes to get through this song as it was tweaking her emotions. 😄🤘
I can see that!
@@Abigirl_Reacts If you look closely after she sings the last 'lanternlight' near the end of the song you will see that on the next frame there is a tear under her right eyelid. I love this song. 🥲
Troy sings the male part. He plays guitar, octave mandolin, electric bagpipes, and a number of primitive flutes.
So impressive! 🤘😊🤘
The Nightwish tribute to Pink Floyd "High Hopes" is phenomenal. Stunning performance.
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
Das Lied ist erst vor kurzem auf dem Album "Yesterwynde" veröffentlicht worden.
Es gab noch keine Life-Auftritte, erst 2026.
I can't wait!
The male singer is Troy, the band's multiinstrumentalist
Got it, ty!
Sadly no live performances of those songs yet and won’t be for a while as no plans to tour yet, this is off the new album that came out recently. It’s a beautiful song 💙
Can't wait for it though!
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
Smiles, tears, surprises, and questions, welcome to the World of Nightwish! Great Reaction.
Thanks for having me! Happy to be here ^_^
Within Nightwish songs the lyrics are also important because of the power they have… a lot of songs are emotional (everyone has another one) - this one is sad and hopeful together because the content is about the dead of a loved person… so take a look on the lyrics and watch it again. You will be surprised what will happen to you… it’s more emotional than before… 👍‼️🏆
Thank you for the feedback! ^_^
The male voice is Troy, if you want to hear more of him i recommend The Carpenter live and Harvest live, you will see him in most of the live concerts with the pipes.
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
My infant son died in my arms from a congenital heart defect leading to my wife's suicide. This song brings me much comfort.
I'm so sorry to hear that and for your losses.
Can't wait to hear for myself!
The harmony is by Troy Donnockley, also member of Nightwish, plays guitar, wind instruments like Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes).
So impressive! 🤘😊🤘
Great reaction Abi.❤ The Album Yesterwynde is a Masterpiece, and this song is speacial for me. Grettings from northern Germany 🤘

Compouser Tuomas Holopainen metal Mozart
Great composer!
Don't let the tears bother you i think they hit many of us with this song.
Agreed!
Did you hear the Harp strum with the strings leading into the orchestra build up? Tuomas uses the harp a lot in his orchestra arrangements. Later, the brass joins in and the rest of the orchestra comes in with the crescendo. The orchestra and choirs are big in the new album.
I'll have to pay closer attention to the harp!
How unlucky for those who have not yet discovered the magic that is Nightwish. Hopefully performances like this amazing piece of musical art, and the continuing efforts of reactors like yourself Abi, many more will be made aware of the energy and joy this amazing band brings to so many.🤘🤘
Just an incredible adventure in songwriting and performance👍👍
Couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for the comment! ^_^
I can't wait half a year, noooo haha
No live performance as the Album with lanterlight was just released.
Oh OK got it!
Dang, Abi. I just want to give you a hug after that reaction. Love how you truly feel the music.
I would gladly accept the hug after that reaction! Haha
Why can Floor always release those emotions in me. She has a gift to release emotions in you. 👍👍👍👍
This is 100% true!
We only can hope and pray, that there will be a time and place, where we can hear this songs from the new album live.
Soon I hope!
I can't wait for it go live!
Wow , way cooler , very nice stair step build up - nicely done Abi😊
Thank you 🤗
My first listen I totally had tears running down my cheeks.
You and I both!
The most spine tinglingly beautiful song I've ever heard.
Agreed!
This is their latest album, there isn t a live perfomance yet.

Have you done 'An Ocean of Strange Islands' from the same album yet? I look forward to your opinions if you haven't. It's unbelievable, I promise you!! 😊
I just added it to my list, is there only a lyric video of this song?
Yes. But still worth it.
@@Abigirl_Reacts as Clive says - it's VERY much worth it. I think you've done Ghost Love Score only previously? Obviously that memorable Wacken performance was 11 years ago. These 2 songs are from the latest album 'Yesterwynde' (pronounced wind as in winding a clock) and it won't be played live until probably 2026 when they'll probably have a 30th Anniversary World tour I would imagine! Thanks for the reply and take care 🙂
"Orchestra" It's the London Philharmonic.
Cool!
The first several times I watched this video, wept a lot. Now I weep a little each time.
I'm sure I'll be the same
There is an 11 year difference between the other 2 songs that you reacted to from Wacken 2013 and Lanternlight - Floor has just gotten better & better every year since - Tuomas stated that her vocal work on this newest Nightwish album has been her best ever
Wow I believe him!
How did I miss this one? Nice one anyway. And yes, looking forward for more.
This one is my favorite!
Tuomas, the keyboardist, is the writer (mostly) and composer. He founded the band and is brilliant.
So impressive! 🤘😊🤘

The Queen of metal
Above her it's the SUN

Oh oh awesome!
This is so nice to see … ☺️
Will wait for more. Just go through everything they have, in any order you like. Floor will not disappoint you anyway, so keeping a certain order isn’t as important to you as it might be to others.
I’m enjoying this immensely.
Enjoying?
Loving!
You know what strange? My love for Floor has actually upset some Nightwish fanatics! They say I don't give enough love to the rest of the band. But I guess i just can't help it. Thank you for the compliments and for your support!
@@Abigirl_Reacts
Don't worry about those people too much. Do some introspection, adjust where you feel it necessary, and leave it at that. You have to do what you feel is good for you, not necessarily what others say you should do ... 🤘 (that obviously is also true for this reply)
Remember: tastes are different. And also, there will be always some people who feel they have to complain about something.
I see nothing wrong with your love for Floor. And in fact, you even mention the quality of the band here and there, now and then ... 👍
Some people concentrate on this, others on that. You concentrate on Floor. Good for you. And for me, because I can watch you doing so ... 🙃 Which is a lot of fun, really ... ☺
Thank you for the feedback. I'll just stay true to myself. It's gotten me this far! 😁

👍 Exactly
Just listen to what resonates with your inner being. If necessary in private, and then just react to things that do not come as close to your heart, so it doesn't "hurt" as much when people start bitching ... 🤯 😠 😤
My mother had a saying, when I was a kid (and that's long ago now, but I still remember it): Those who don't watch do not see it, and those who don't want to see it can watch something else ... 😊
The circumstances were a bit different, but I'd say it applies to this too.
You Love Floor. So what ...
Happy Listening!

Fun fact: from 2012 to 2019, Nightwish has 4 vocalists in the band: Floor, Marko, Troy and Tuomas. Tuomas refused to sing since the 2nd album.
