      It's mostly midior jobs, then senior in my country (Serbia). I am guessing it might be similar in the west. They want Srs at medior level wages or lower. I got my first technical interview in Belgrade, Serbia when i lowered my expectations to 1800 EUR net (~3k gross, maybe 2700).

    • @ka-md8ue
      @ka-md8ue 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Junior Jobs are in other countries, because their seniors leave companies, and start working for West, so their companies have to find other seniors, and grab local middle developers, at that moment , middle dev missing, position is open, and a strong junior developer takes that position, and at that moment there is a shortage of junior devs. To become junior developer is still hard there, but much easier than in US, because of that flow. And guess what, they don't value what they have. You should work for free or for a junior salary of that country, which will be a symbolic pay for you, but you are getting the experience, which will boost you.

    You're not saying anything we don't already know Cristian. Yeah, we all need to learn skills because the world changes, and if you don't want to be left behind you must adapt.
    But CODING IS NOT IT!
    There are way fewer jobs for developers than ever. Even if you find a job posting there are more than 100 applicants. Chances are you're not even going to get a reply saying they decided to interview someone else. Many of the job postings are even fake. They are just building a resume database so in case they get a new project they can hire people quickly.
    And there you are, coding every day, trying to get better, getting older by the day, hoping someone will finally give you a chance. It's fucking pointless...
    Sure, there will be that 1 in a 100 that gets the job. But chances are that's not you.
    So, in the end, you have a couple of choices. Keep at it, work a regular job while trying to improve your coding skills in you free time, meaning you have no life... or spend time on something else, that actually makes you happy, or learning a skill in a less competitive market that can bring you just as much money as coding.
    It's a sad reality for people learning how to code, especially because it takes years to get good at it, only to be just another resume in a company's database....

    • @cristian-florea-coding
      @cristian-florea-coding  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      so why don’t you let it go and do something else. why do you so desperately cling to it. I want to know (genuine question)

    • @oloyang431
      @oloyang431 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@cristian-florea-coding If I don't get a job until March this year, I will let it go. I haven't quit only because I've invested so much time and energy into it.. it's been two and a half years... going to bed at 1am, doing my regular job, taking care of my kid, having no free time whatsoever... and it's starting to take a toll on my health.
      Quitting feels bad, because that would mean I have wasted two and half years of my life, but when I look at things objectively, it might be necessary.
      I'll keep coding for myself, just because I like it... but that's about it. If you don't make a living as a programmer already, it's extremely hard to be competitive with all the shit you have to do in life besides improving your programming skills. I don't recommend this for 20 year old kids, who live with their parents... they can do whatever... But I'm 38... I really have no time to waste.
      Also, coming from a country like Serbia isn't helping much. There literally are no opportunities. A 2 junior frontend dev postings in the last two months.... hundreds of applicant... The funny thing is they were curious about my portfolio so at least I was called for HR screening. But then they see me, and there comes the question "How old are you by the way?".
      Maybe I'm just shit at coding...
      Here's my portfolio.. so you tell me:
      portfolio-george.onrender.com/
      I just think that for some people it might be too late. If you're a kid, there's a chance. But if you're in your mid thirties, trying to switch careers, choose something else. There's a bunch of 20 year olds that know just as much as you, and are 15 years younger, that you are competing with. And guess who companies prefer?
      Greetings from Serbia, and merry Christmas!

    Social proof effect - In some cases, using such categories may aim to influence others in the group - if someone loudly claims that someone is a 'loser' in a given situation, it may prompt others to conform to this opinion, while those who feel like 'winners' may gain favor in the eyes of others.

    • @TheGoodOne-bf6up

      Are You my friend trying to create group of people that watch this record?

    • @TheGoodOne-bf6up
      @TheGoodOne-bf6up 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      "Yes, a person applying the social proof effect can indeed try to create a group in front of which they present their opinions or recordings to achieve personal benefits. Using social proof involves influencing others by creating the impression that a particular opinion or stance is popular or widely accepted. This person may try to gain support for their position by creating a situation where the group they belong to will be inclined to adopt their views or actions.
      If this person loudly claims that someone is a "loser" or a "winner" in the eyes of the group, they may attempt to rally others to adopt the same opinion, creating a sense of consensus or social pressure. In this way, they can influence public opinion within the group, which could bring them benefits, such as gaining more popularity, strengthening their position within the group, or obtaining support for their own goals.
      This is an example of social manipulation, where the person seeks to shape the group's opinion to increase their own power or benefits. It can also lead to an increase in their influence or position, especially if the group sees them as a leader or someone with a decisive voice in social matters."

      💯 %. That's called propaganda in favor of some group, to show them successful, to make them attractive in eyes of mid or lower level minded crowd. This makes the crowd ignore the real analysis and listen to those "successful", subordinating their own workforce and perception them.
      Another, may be main gole, is to put truth tellers in bad looking position. Trying to make them tell truth less, calling it complain, and raising bootlickers position in the eyes of the crowd.

    I know a guy that got an IT job at Bloomberg without any college degree nor experience, not even a cert to his name, simply because they knew a guy. Doesn't even know what CompTIA is haha! That happens everywhere but tech should be the last place where that happens as it is supposed to be all skill based, both hard and soft. There is a lot of nepotism going on with the layoffs, favoring cheaper and more agreeable/less skilled and thus less argumentative employees. I hope things turn around but it looks like this will continue to get worse a little bit more before it gets better.

    Everyone can have a senior dev position at 0 dollars an hour. Getting a senior dev position that competes with inflation is entirely another issue. I am one of those with 10 years of experience. Most developers are brain dead and could not write good code it their life depended on it since they have less than 5 years experience. This whole loser/winner talk has nothing to do with code. If being a so-called winner is what you want like Bill Gates or Trump then you just need be closer to the printing press. Not 1 coder has ever made good money from just developing software. All developers are losers in that sense. No coding skill will keep you from being a loser. Stay positive about life, but all good people are the losers.

      Did reach out to connections I've made along the years, didn't help. I guess in my case the connections weren't C-level or higher management people, but rather senior/architect level. I didn't even get a chance to have a technical interview, because apparently some higher ups looked at my CV and decided that I'm not good enough because I didn't work with the exact tech stack they work with. In one case I got rejected because I worked with a different auth lib compared with what they use, even though it did pretty much the exact same thing (I've matched all other requirements), it's bonkers. The market seems dead to me right now.
