Hurricane Milton slams into Florida with tornadoes, floods, and fierce winds

- Hurricane Milton barreled into the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday after plowing across Florida as a Category 3 storm, pounding cities with ferocious winds and rain, whipping up a barrage of tornadoes and causing an unknown number of deaths.
It compounded the misery wrought by Helene, with damage, destruction and power outages reported from Sarasota to Fort Myers, while sparing Tampa a direct hit.
Addressing the state on Thursday morning, after the devastation of Hurricane Milton, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said while the storm was "significant," its impact was not the "worst case scenario."
Meanwhile, intense winds from the storm left the roof of Tampa Bay's Tropicana Field in tatters.

Didn't "slam" into anything. We monitored wind speeds as the system approached. Could have been many times worse. More media embellishment. This is Florida, happens every season.
All these models that predicted cat 5 as the huge area was cat 4 and weakening while already losing energy over land... makes me wonder what these universities are teaching people.

Media embellishment....predictions aren't guarantees. The weather still will do what it wants to do. But it's always better to overreact than underprepare. Don't be foolish.
