@@Silenthitman44 I find that a little sad if mages are not able to be healers. Granted they have that life pulling ability in the necromancer, but they basically killed everything about the knight enchanter specialization of the last game.
The class archetype, Necromancer, has more than just undead summons. There is RPG Necromancer: Undead summons, with some self-healing and defensive abilities. There is also another type, the one in this game; no summons, self-heals.
I have mixed feelings. The VFX of mage spells look great and combat after all looks funny as hell, but on the other hand, some of the skills for other classes seem really over-the-top. I also wonder if there will be any explanation for how the skills actually work. Like, for example, the Reaper tornado-suddenly, is everyone a mage now? Or maybe they will explain it with enchanted weapons? Also, it's obvious that each specialization is connected to various factions, so I hope it will work like gaining a specialization in Inquisition and that there will be specialization dialogues with companions.
Mages have never had a monopoly on magical/supernatural abilities. Rogue and Warrior have always had a touch of magic to varying degrees both in game and in lore. Enchanted weapons and runes are certainly some of the ways they can do it but there are others. Templars: use Lyrium to give them the ability to be the bane of both demons and mages. Reavers: Drink the blood of dragons or wyverns to grant them mystical power and feed on death Seekers & Fade Warriors: use spirits to grant them their abilities. Tempest Rogue: alchemical concoctions grant them a variety of abilities. Artificers: use of bombs and gadgets. For Veilguard, the Reaper Warrior is tied to the Mournwatch/Deathcallers (I forget what they're called) but they deal with necromancy and spirits. Maybe the Reaper's abilities are tied to calling out spirits to fight with them.

@@Dantics 400 something for the PS5 70 for the game. LEVEL 1 as in the prologue, before Solas's plan should be having any effect. Would a person who has never known magic really be able to to safely use or even be comfortable with magic? Especially when mages before this event spent years learning how to safely use their powers, and I am not just talking about demons. In DAO mage prologue we see a student set himself on fire while practicing. Then there are the various horror stories that rook would have heard even in Tevinter, things like kids setting their house on because of a nightmare or other magical accidents from heightened emotions. Let's not forget about the breach, it was basically the same thing, yet even in the future where it covers the sky basically the same thing still no martial was using magic. Just because magic I more abundant doesn't mean it is easier to control. Edit; if that static blade wasn't the first ability rouges got or it was only allowed by a special weapon or rune you get from your faction, I would be fine. But no it is apparently such a common skill for a non mage to use and control magic you question the prejudice mages suffer in the south.
not going watch the video cause I don't want spoil myself and would want to find out when I play this game, but I going like the video keep it up and also can you make a video of the faction those of a deep dive less you already did, and also I for sure going play as warrior, I alway do when a game got different class and I haven't choose the rogue since origins cause the class since it alway the weakest but now they made the rogue more badass, carries two sword, we haven't that since origins to
Honestly I don't care about much else, game looks serviceable - good even, but the 2 limit party + no party control + no party classes (seems like they're no longer fully fledged combat characters, just an ability) has me concerned
Fair concern. The main reason is once you get your hands on it, you won't want to change from Rook. The action requires your attention. BUT that might not be for everyone.
Wait... I can only use ice with Evoker? And Spellblade only uses electricity? What about fire spells? I won't be able to combine different spells? Oh, I miss the combat as a mage in DA2, so many magic combinations.
You can use all elements, just not the class locked abilities (which have an associated element). The latest dragon trailer shows a mage using ice, electricity, and fire as a spellblade. Spellblade even has specific synergy with burning effects. Some of the skills are built into your melee combos rather than active abilities as well
There's 3 ice spells, 3 fire ones, 3 electricity ones and 1 necrotic spell as part of the normal unlockable nodes for the mage class. Then there's 1 extra ice spell that requires the Evoker specialization, 1 electricity spell requiring Spellblade and 1 necrotic spell that belongs to the Death Caller. For the most part, you're free to pick whatever spells you want, although certain specializations have passives and synergies with certain spells/elements. For example, the Spellblade has great synergy combining fire and electricity spells, with passives that help them improve both, allowing them to quickly stack shock/burning and arcane bombs even with those skills, allowing for great chain reactions. And it just so happens that fire and electricity are the spells in the way to unlock the Spellblade.
I hate how ij this game and in inquisition rogues get the "potion/gadget" class treatment. Like no. Rogues are supoosed to be fast, slealthy, and use dexterity weapons. They shouldnt be throwing bombs, they should be throwing daggers. they shouldnt be pulling out a cannon. they should be dashing in to stab you in the spine.
I still think the specializations should be separate from the tree. They force you to go a certain way, which regardless of being able to stray a little, forces you to choose select skills in order to get to the specialization you want. This is a fail imo. Regardless, still looking forward to playing the game & will be there day 1.
I see it more as being able of playing somewhat alike the Specialization you want to before getting to it, creating a sense of "development", if that makes sense?
Bro, have you realized that most who are showing full on 1 hour missions with this game, actually suck at playing video games? For real, like bloody hell, they made the only semi-decent part of this game, look like shit.
Warrior seems overwhelmingly more fun compared to others. Rogue looks really dull which is unfortunute since in inqusition, rogue specilizations were seriously unique and game changing. Mage is mage. Only way to make mage better in any rpg is adding more and more VFX.
Why do I have the feeling that the game was originally built entirely on auto attacks/dodges + ult - and then suddenly added skills and companions? Just a 60 sec cooldown on 1 of 3 buttons... and this is not even an ult... A wall of fire that deals damage like an auto attack - but it is not a field, and mobs will not stand in it. A pinpoint attack, the whole point of which is detonation. Chain lightning that gives the same result as a couple of swings of a dagger - again a primer and nothing more. I just mean that the combat looks like 7/10 + ult sometimes. And the skills are like a dog's fifth leg - generally useless, but you can do a combo a couple of times a minute.
Because, it's exactly what you described. If I'm not mistaken, Veilguard started as an mmo, then they switched to a live service game, just to finally switch to a single player game. That's practically the main reason there are many things going wrong with the game. It's like grabbing a text in English, translating it to Turkish, then Chinese, and then again into English, the text will come out wrong lol
When they discarded the MMO project it was on pre-production still. There's absolutely no way they had any sort of combat ready by then (and they've said the new iteration is vastly different from the one before).
Combat is terrible Companions are just plain boring/ bad Devs have chosen to ignore lore Graphics looks awful This is not dragon age it’s a marvel movie wish they would have canned this game

@Dantics ok, and in 35 days, we'll have it and spend another 35 days in character creator.
*I can't wait to play the Jack Sparrow version since it doesn't have an online feature anymore*
Where you just play the theme on loop?
After loving my Knight Enchanter in DAI I'm really interested in the Spelblade but I'm not sure if it feels the same. I guess ill have to wait and see the related talents and other spells before making a decision
Mage Spellblade using Lighting and Fire + Shadow Dragons
man i miss knight enchanter already :((( magic juggernaut that hits like a truck close range
Should have gone over the skills that add new combos/mechanics as though are just as important to the classes as the abilities themselves.
Looks like it’s lost a lot of the strategy aspect. I liked selecting an AOE spell and freezing time while I placed it.
Is all this also true for companions?
Was really looking forward to playing Templar / reaver seems I can play neither
The reaper is essentialy the reaver of this game
So mages no longer have healing or protection shield type spells now?
Protection yes, on your staff. Healing is on companions
@@Dantics not sure what you mean by healing is on your companions. You mean Rogues and Warriors are the healers now?
@fashionandfrags
The companions have various healing, revive and curing spells
@@Silenthitman44 I find that a little sad if mages are not able to be healers. Granted they have that life pulling ability in the necromancer, but they basically killed everything about the knight enchanter specialization of the last game.
@fashionandfrags
I do, too. i'm not sure why they keep shafting player controlled healers
The name of my Rook will be Boromir a Warrior Sword/Shield Grey Warden
Thank you bro so much I mean it, your so awesome
Aw thanks bro. You too. Thanks for watching
@Dantics you have great insight, and you're so in-depth
So the rogue has a “summon” but not the necromancer? TF?!
Necromancer..? You mean Death Caller? Or are you referring to Reaper?
There isn't a necromancer spec
The class archetype, Necromancer, has more than just undead summons.
There is RPG Necromancer: Undead summons, with some self-healing and defensive abilities.
There is also another type, the one in this game; no summons, self-heals.
I am disappoint about this too. Death Caller should have had a summon.
I think it's because in Dragon Age lore raising undead is the purview of Blood Magic
Death caller mage for sure
love your content
Thank you! It loves you too
Can't wait!!
No point in “protecting your allies” when they don’t even have health or die 😭
Reavers: Drink the blood of dragons or wyverns to grant them mystical power and feed on death
Seekers & Fade Warriors: use spirits to grant them their abilities.
@@nojusticenetwork9309 on origins it was justificable somewhat, it was discreet, but on inquisition everyone has magic, everyone has superpowers , can do 50ft tall jumps and slam the ground, its so bad
i hate this since inquisition, everyone is a mage, has superpowers, can move faster than flash and has superman strengh, man do i miss origins, where rogues flanked, used smoke bombs and traps, warriors did weapon habilities like powel strike but no this flashy and strange, its so bad righ now, in veilguard they make even bad
I had the same observation. Either everyone is a mage now or they’re all high on lyrium 😂
Warriors always had magic, even in Origins. Reaver could literally cast nightmare on enemies and deal spirit damage as well as siphon life from corpses. Also Spirit Warrior in Awakening.
I miss a fire specialization for mages... i.i
You can still make a fire build!
CAPTAIN AMERICA BUILD INCOMING
Inquistion mage spells were better. I miss Knight Enchanter. 😭
They are was not only better, they were many for each purpose. And now you have 3. wow. great. just amazing. it would be so fun. after 3 hourse of playing. Can't wait the moment when i will just drop this game becouse it become too boring to fight between speaking with companions.
@@kazmkucuk1663 Knight Enchanter was busted, Vivienne really sold me on it cause I never really played mages. You’re telling me I get to be a Jedi with a giant light blade, flashstep, slow time and team revive? Sign me up.
Every class feels like a mage with these abilities...
Inquisition mage spells where nearly all of them were useless outside of 4 you spammed constantly?
Hero of Fereldan - Warrior (bcus mage gameplay sucks in DAO)
Hawke - Mage (much better mage gameplay)
Inquisitor - Mage (that Knight Enchanter spec is too good to miss out)
Rook - Warrior (Reaper is a nice change of pace for the plot in my headcannon)
I hate playing Rogue idk why.
Lightning mage, deyaaa!
I gotta say, as someone who played mage in every dragon age game to this point, I’m suuuper disappointed with how they handled it. I’m definitely going warrior this time around, and tbh I feel like they 120% should’ve done more with the specializations. Even looking at spiritbomb I’m just so sad. Hopefully there’s a passive in there that lets it chain like old times but I’ve kinda lost faith in BioWare
Hey are you gonna upload gameplay of your own run for this game game? I'm super hesitant of getting the game now after discovering the director from the sims is directing this game so any hope of me purchasing will have to fall on walk throughs or runs of the game itself
Yep closer to release I'll have footage and thoughts
So... there are not healing spells?
can u show the traits pls
Thank you for confirming something that was bugging me. And for saving me $500 something dollars. I will not be getting veilguard for their utter lack of respect for the lore of magic in dragon age.
That's fair. What is $500 dollars though?
Also if you're talking about magic, the veil has been almost dropped. Magic is leaking out everywhere.
But no it is apparently such a common skill for a non mage to use and control magic you question the prejudice mages suffer in the south.
not going watch the video cause I don't want spoil myself and would want to find out when I play this game, but I going like the video keep it up and also can you make a video of the faction those of a deep dive less you already did, and also I for sure going play as warrior, I alway do when a game got different class and I haven't choose the rogue since origins cause the class since it alway the weakest but now they made the rogue more badass, carries two sword, we haven't that since origins to
Aw man, well good to see you here anyway!
@@Dantics you welcome you and other channel give me a good vison I should just wait for this game come out and hop for the best
So you can choose from 3 classes at the start:
A mage, another mage or wait for it... a mage.
Of those 3 the SnB mage looks the most intersting to me.
Wait... I can only use ice with Evoker? And Spellblade only uses electricity? What about fire spells? I won't be able to combine different spells? Oh, I miss the combat as a mage in DA2, so many magic combinations.
You can use any element you want, you just get more spells geared towards that specialization.
You can use all elements, just not the class locked abilities (which have an associated element). The latest dragon trailer shows a mage using ice, electricity, and fire as a spellblade. Spellblade even has specific synergy with burning effects. Some of the skills are built into your melee combos rather than active abilities as well
Clearly reading/watching comprehension is not your strong suit....
Ok, I get it now. Thanks. I don't usually focus on just one category of spell, so I expect there to be a lot of variations.
That was my concern.
I hate how ij this game and in inquisition rogues get the "potion/gadget" class treatment. Like no. Rogues are supoosed to be fast, slealthy, and use dexterity weapons. They shouldnt be throwing bombs, they should be throwing daggers. they shouldnt be pulling out a cannon. they should be dashing in to stab you in the spine.
the return of the duel weilding duelist not handcuffed to two puny daggers. give them to the mage
I’m pretty sure the Rogue Class in Veilguard can have the ability to duel wield swords, or short swords.
@@samflood5631 looks like it. i was just making a joke about da2 and dai locking rogues to bows or daggers
Bruh is there no greatsword in this game? All I been seeing is maces and hammers
Should be in the game yes
Here are my Rook class/race/faction combinations
1. Male Elven Slayer, Veil Jumper
2. Female Dwarven Champion, Warden
3. Female Human Dualist, Crow
4. Male Qunari Evoker, Shadow Dragon
5. Male Dwarven Reaper, Fortune Lord
6. Female Qunari Death Caller, Mourn Watcher
7. Male Human Spell Blade, Shadow Dragon
8. Female Elven Sabetour, Crow
9. Female Elven Veil Ranger, Veil Jumper
Not being able to detonate your own abilities is a huge miss. Ugh

Eh?
@@Dantics any game that lets me use a scythe as a weapon just couldn't contain my hype
@@LaZyREBaL so hype right!?
Spellblade is not a good substitute to Knight Enchanter and Evoker just sounds like a weaker Rift Mage
Definitely a Duelist to start with.
Warrior Champion
Bro, have you realized that most who are showing full on 1 hour missions with this game, actually suck at playing video games? For real, like bloody hell, they made the only semi-decent part of this game, look like shit.
There have been a few bad players, yes. The game would look better with some highly skilled ones.
❤
@@Konrad_2003 Well, shit. Didn't they already step on this rake when developing Inquisition?
When they discarded the MMO project it was on pre-production still. There's absolutely no way they had any sort of combat ready by then (and they've said the new iteration is vastly different from the one before).
Combat is terrible
Companions are just plain boring/ bad
Devs have chosen to ignore lore
Graphics looks awful
This is not dragon age it’s a marvel movie wish they would have canned this game
Just show the skills in a 3 min video….
With the inclusive tio surgery option, gender and pronouns choice in character creation, I'm gonna build the most chad looking bearded straight warrior man. Just to feel like players like me still exist. Yep I'm definitely crying with this small d energy.
You're valid man. Im doing the same and my d is fantastic.
Rogue lgtm, but mage is straight garbage, even worse then DAI version. skip
Damn this game sucks
