    One thing I like about the Pike's sideboard bed addon is that, like with the Crocodile, it comes with integrated small fuel tanks, for an additional 60 L of fuel. (I think it's 60, I'm going from memory). Cheers! //Rick

    Good review, I picked it over the Vorons for 2 bed duty without trailer in Phase 8.
    However I really dislike the interior and how the snorkel hinders some add-ons so it will probably not become a go-to truck for me.

    Thanks again for this review Nate.
    This step is my favorite truck in the game so far. It convinced me with logging and hauling in Wisconsin and later maps as well.
    I was so impressed it and it drove right into my heart.
    For how stable it is and the power it has it didn’t take long before I fell in love with the pike. I haven’t tested all the trucks to the extend that you have Nate but I’m so convinced of this one. I admit to the downsides you’ve mentioned for sure but I love that challenge. The tire options and the power give the pike monstrous capabilities under heavy loads and the utility is fantastic.
    What is your favorite truck in the game … besides the P12 please 😅
    I’d love to see it’s always on AWD to become switchable in the future to increase Its range and add to our learned driver skills from you ;D and your videos
    Keep up the good work

    Hey Nathan great review as always I am currently working on a tire size video and I noticed when you popped up tire size in the off-road class and scouts that the croc is listed as a max tire of 41 which is incorrect that is actually 42 inches. so it can have 39 and 42 in highway all terrain off-road and chained the only area where it’s max is 41 is actually it’s mud tires. Not sure if that was what tripped you up just letting you know. I am still watching but let you know if I catch anything else.

    • @NProvince

    • @G4mingWithJJ
      @G4mingWithJJ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NProvince probably yes lol I just happened to notice because I was working on this last night and I’m like wait I swear it was 42 so I checked my notes and I was like okay I’m not going crazy. So this is on a side note the person who gave you the info about engine damage with consumption rates is that posted on Reddit or anywhere? And do they have that with more trucks I’m curious because I plan I’m on doing more trucks reviews but I want to include like as much information as I can find with stuff like that. If you see my other reviews they sorta go into more details with possible addons driver levels upgrade locations I just want to put as much as I can into it and that is great information. I didn’t include truck weights in my first few but will be doing that going forward and I didn’t include the durability but I did think about putting that in when I did my 3rd review. And also the torque ratings which is also more good information so I will include that as well. Is there anything else you would have liked to include but didn’t in your reviews? Could be anything I’m just curious if you feel like you left anything out that might have been useful. Thanks for all the work you do and for all this information ahead of time.

    One weird thing I’ve noticed about this truck is the standard hitch angle is very weird, most noticeable when you have the sideboard bed on. Some trailers, most noticeably the medium logging trailer, actually cause the rear wheels to lift off the ground making it practically useless on most surfaces. Other than that, I love this truck. It’s surprisingly fast and rugged and is actually fun to drive.

    • @justinlynch3
      @justinlynch3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I even mentioned this bug to him before. I guess this is the collision issue with certain addon's Nathan breezed by. Kinda feels like this is a bigger issue that should of been given a bit more attention though.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I knew about it this from testing and our conversation Justin. I didnt wanna get into more detail other than it has hitch collisons on trailers and to watch what trailers you choose to attach. For log trailers, I probably wouldnt choose this one to tow medium log trailers with of course. I felt that it would be like a broken record talking about trailer collisions in depth when it has been discussed alot on the channel. I think people will understand that they just need to consider good trailer options

    • @calibadgerdude6082
      @calibadgerdude6082 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NProvince Ah. I assumed that comment was referring to the trailer portion making collisions with the bed rather than the hitch part. Carry on. :) Yeah, the first time I tried to hook a logging trailer to the pike and was driving on just my front wheels was an interesting experience. It sorta works on bumpy dirt roads, but once you hit tarmac it's undrivable.

  • @92c900t
    @92c900t 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the Pike is the best small (emphasis on "small") hauling class truck in the game, edging out the WWS and Bandit. It was the part of phase 8 I was looking forward to the most and I think the Devs did a wonderful job with it. I disagree however characterizing this truck as competition with the Vorons and Taygas, the Pike costs 16K stock (less than many scouts and half that of the Kodiak), has 43" tires and weighs under 8 tons. It's true competition are things like the Kodiak, small US 6x6s like the MH9500, the Fleetstar and the WWS, the KRS Bandit, the Zixz 5368, and of course, the 310E. I know the Pike is classified as Off Road, but so is the Tatra 805 which really should be put in the scout class. The Vorons/Taygas are in a whole nother league compared to the little 6x6s.
    The tire size flaw is absolutely valid, but I'll add that the flotation of the MHSIIs (which I think are the best tire option in the game and the Pike is the only small truck that has these) reduces the extent that the truck sinks in mud or soft ground, so the smaller size is less of an issue. The THMS has this ability as well, but has a significantly worse grip qualities and trucks with the THMS (particularly lighter ones) struggle to put power down and tend to bleed so much power in anything above 2nd gear.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really good outlook on this. Lots of good points made here. In reference to the bigger 6x6s, I compared it, but I never said it was on that level, but similar just smaller. I do see similarities, yet scaled down to a different size of truck.

    • @freedisappointment815
      @freedisappointment815 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the Bandit can't not be stuck. Not even thin ice and the ice mud in Amur. And remember these two things can stuck TUZ 420. Also it can't not be high center and unlike other 8×8, It doesn't have front overhang. So it go through vertical obstacles quite easily. Only deep water and tree can stop this thing. The off-road capabilit of Bandit offer is Top 3 in this game. It beat Tayga surly. But it did trade some stability for the performance like this especially with crane. Also trade quite a lot durability. The Pike is good but I doubt it can edging out Bandit.

    • @freedisappointment815
      @freedisappointment815 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bandit is one of the most underrated truck in this game. People get it from the start. Drive around little bit and filp it instantly the never take it for seconds ride. The stock configuration is quite worse and it need skill to drive. And the time it got upgraded people already got some really good truck so why bother to drive the Bandit again.

    • @92c900t
      @92c900t 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@freedisappointment815 Your points are all correct. The damage issue of the LAZ240 engine is why i downgrade to the IMZ in the Bandit. The Bandit is one of only 2 low-saddle trucks that can go through death ice/mud/snow (the other is the ANK-C). I like the Bandit more now than I used to, but I just don't think it's a very good tractor for hauling trailers (both hitch and saddle), more conventional trucks like the WWS perform this role better. I also don't think the tire set in the Bandit is all that great and the ridiculous fuel tank is why I always have the roof-rack.

  • @gameboy3800
    @gameboy3800 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    is there a trick for driving in high gear? i swear on a majority of vehicles in the game as soon as i put it in high it slows to an absolute crawl even getting stall warnings even on flat ground like ice lakes. s-tier trucks with the best engines can do it ok but almost everything else it seems broken or pointless?

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So high gear is finicky thing, high gear doesn’t hold it max power to stop it from stalling until it’s at its full speed. Usually if you can get a vehicle into second gear from auto, high gear should go and be fine. Now when you hit deep mud or terrain, vehicles without S power will stall and the vehicles with S power will just wheel spin. This is when you down shift, get through the patch, and do it over again.

  • @vladvulcan
    @vladvulcan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, the Pike is the pocket Tayga, as I keep saying. Very little it can't do, it has high power to weight and always on features. Too bad they messed up with its bed positioned backwards and too low, catching on trailers.
    Another thing the devs missed is the absence of Offroad and Chained tires. That's because heavy doubles are split into two files with different width: highway and all-terrain in 1st file, offroads and chains in 2nd file. And the truck's XML misses the line that would add "wheels_heavy_double2" into the "" tag. Other heavy offroad tires exist as heavy_single1 set, but the Pike has no access to these either, it skips right to the heavy_single2, that are the MHS II and III.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s pretty much as close as you can get to being a mini Tayga. I think the Croc has better balance, but I think your pretty spot on there. Also that’s a good catch in the files! Could you imagine if it did have more tires sets?! Wow!

  • @lamp4498
    @lamp4498 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Nathan, I wanted to know your opinion on something.
    Do you think that it’s possible to complete the game using scouts only (except for missions using the seismic vibrator)?
    That, and what about beating the game without building bridges?

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Lamp so in short I think that would be a true challenge and test of patience,l. Respect for wanting to do that. So I don’t think it could be done because in addition to the things you mentioned, there are larger pieces of cargo that scouts cannot move like 4 slot containers and logs as well. I think scouts will struggle to deliver cargo as a whole. You could modify the challenge where any 1-2 slot cargo is delivered from a scout, but there are only a few scouts that I would feel comfortable pulling loads of cargo. This will make the selection very slim. Concerning bridges, I’m not sure enough to give you a Yes or a No on that one.

    • @lamp4498
      @lamp4498 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NProvince perhaps that could be a new series trying to beat the game without bridges

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed that vehicle can do it, but in places like Amur being able to pull 4 slots through those conditions. It would be pretty tough

    • @phoenix0166
      @phoenix0166 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some bridges will probably need to be built. (Black River Bridge, Black Badger Lake Bridges are good to have but I guess not needed, etc). As for scouts only, not many scout can haul cargo effectively. The best for the task are probably the F-750, loadstar, and Yar 87. Those aren’t exactly early game.

    • @phoenix0166
      @phoenix0166 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NProvince The F-750 is actually capable of hauling 4 slot containers. The only cargo that it can’t haul are logs and train segments. If you’re planning to do Scout only, F-750 will certainly be your friend.

    I honestly really like it. It's cute, versatile and quite decent. Funny thing until now I didn't relize it didn't have chained wheels loke what wait what for real? Why? It's disappointing really. Like really disappointing I dnd't realize that despite having driven this thing for many hours now. I think it's just a better 310E at this point. Mudtires, more add-ons and a roof rack. I use it a lot with the stock tires because I like the looks and the challange and it surprised me a lot. It's very capable to me and actually became one of my new top three favourites. The bed is actually bugged aparently it sits quite a bit too low where it clips into the frame of the truck and causes trailers to behave strange. I use a mod that fixes it but it should hopefully be adressed by the devs soon. Nevertheless I really like the looks, sounds and utility of this truck. Basically one of the Vorons that trades offroad capabilities for more versatility like sideboard bed + crane and trailer combo, long logs and crane and the vibrator. I really like it, eventhough it pains me a bit to see my 310E slightly getting powercreeped. Nice review as usual 👍👍
