    When you were working out your pivot point, I was thinking “hmmm, I’d go lower than that” so when you adjusted it, I felt really smug... for about 30 seconds. I sit and watch and criticise, you get out there and do it. If I had twice your skill and enthusiasm, I’d still be an idle f***er, so big props to you. It’s dudes like you that make me realise how good I could have been if only I’d got off my arse for once.

    A rotisserie is the way to go especially when you don't want to be laying under neath the job you are doing sand blasting, welding, cutting, spray painting etc. I have just helped restore a small utility helicopter and made a "pig on a spit" for that and it spent nearly a year being rotated whenever necessary which made the work so much easier. The secret is to get the centre of each end, I used a lasar level, and we could turn the thing just about one handed.Its brilliant when you drop tools down into the guts of the job somewhere and you can't see and find them, you just give it a spin and Mr Gravity usually find it for you. Love the videos.

I thank you very much from the soles of my feet to the top of my head for sharing your time and exceptional welding skills during this wonderful journey of fabrication work. I made a car roller some twenty odd years ago. Very simple construction, large welded triangle ends for stability. Everything else bolts together for easier storage and adjustment. All mounted on large caster wheels for easy moving. Fixing to the body shell is via bolt on brackets so no damage to the body shell. I will try and up-load a picture for you

    thats how I built mine back in the day when restoring a VW beetle, center of body rather than center of mass. My latest project, an MK2 Jag, I borrowed a friends rotisserie that was adjustable in every direction. made it easy to wet blast. center of body while patching and welding, center of mass while blasting.

  • @jackdawg4579
    @jackdawg4579 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Worked well. When you said you were going to use a bolt setup to clamp it tight, I assumed you meant a nut welded on the outer pivot point pipe with hole through the pipe so a bolt would screw down against the interior pipe to hold it by friction. Your setup your making is much better than what I envisaged. I was also worried that you were not making it high enough for the body to go full circle, but it does! Your height was nearly spot on first go!

      Hi Malc, You can actually "Solder"/"Braize" alloy. I've done it many times including repairing crash damaged motorcycle engine cases. You can file, sand, grind, drill and tap it and it's at least as strong as the base metal. This link is the last place I bought from; www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Welding-Brazing-Soldering-Low-Temp-Durafix-Easyweld-UK-Rods-Brush/220865171345?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 , no connection, just a customer. They are expensive, but a lot cheaper than a Mig/Tig setup, I use a MAP plumber's torch. There are lots of UTube vids on this, this one's a fair example; th-cam.com/video/3SBfP4_i1Go/w-d-xo.html The important thing to remember is that you heat the metal until the rod flows onto it, DON'T play the flame onto the rod, it will just ball-up. Use the stainless brush only for this and keep it in a bag between jobs to keep it clean ;-)

    • @MalcOfLincoln
      @MalcOfLincoln 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterihoy4908 Thanks Pete I might just try this, after all it's just fun, and a good idea for a video. I've a couple of propane torches. Just not hot enough to melt normal brazing rods. I've had one for years and just discovered more when getting the small stick welding rods to make the Lister silencer.

    • @MrIntercoolers
      @MrIntercoolers 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the bolts removed and the sleeves/inserts still in you will have a difficult time removing the diff from the PPF. They lock it into place even with bolts removed. I used a thin chisel and hammer to get under the insert lip.., (look for a small groove) and pry them back... going around it tapping with hammer. Just back them out enough that you can slide the diff out the PPF.

  • @Mrflash222006

    might want to put a rotation lock on the rotissery (a piece of flat hanging from a bolt on the non moving part of the hingepoint , the locking bit will just be other curved piece of flat that you can rotate on a sleeve and clamp on the moving bit of the hinge
    the piece of flat hanging down will ramp up against it untill it drops in a slot at the end of the ramp locking the car , just in case you have to hold the car in place and cant reach the lockingplate to put a bolt through
    a bit hard to describe it without the drawing on a napkin to point out the features but it should be eazy to add on the rotisserie later using bits of scrap metal
