You didn’t even mention the most broken foolish burial card. Lavalval chain was used by Nekroz to send djinn to the graveyard to lock the opponent out of special summoning. Lavalval being a generic rank 4 means it’s probably the most busted of all time.

Small nitpick on the 2014 section. Armageddon Knight wasn't limited in 2014. Infernity just REALLY doesn't want to draw 2 because you don't get to combo off if you do, so if you're going to draw two Warriors, you'd rather one of them be Dark Grepher so you can pitch the Armageddon and get rid of it. Infernity wasn't limited until the banlist when Firewall Dragon finally got the axe in December 2018. Also it was by far the best Lavalval Chain deck in history. Guess what Lavalval Chain does. Great video though! Love this kind of content.
Okay, but Kit really could go back to 1 though. Although i'd rather have Drident and Barrage back over Kitkallos, Zoodiac is a really fun package in Labrynth because the deck can play Zoodiac Combo. The only thing Konami would need to do is ban Ratpier and you'd be good more or less.
I remember playing gx tag force 1 and foolish burial is at 3 copies in the game. Paradox Bros use that card and i was like "Why would you dump your own monster to graveyard?" But now dumping monster from deck to graveyard has become mandatory for modern decks. Truly times have changed.
Funnily enough, OCG has ae format where foolish burial is at 3 and it's still rarely played there. Meta is currently purrely, R-Ace and lab (and next week will probably change to snake eyes)
I remember reading Foolish burial for the first time back in the day and I couldn't stop laughing cuz I thought the effect was so stupid , if only I knew what the game would become in the future
Does anyone have issues with Ash Blossoms not working properly lately? At first I thought i was imagining, it, or that some hidden effect from opponent stopped it, but it's happened in like 3 duels today....first after i ashed Junk Speeder, and he still did his effect, then 2 times on Diabelle Star something (from the snake eyes deck) i clearly ashed the on field effect, the chain resolved correctly, my ash resolved, then diabelle and i expected it to be negated, but instead dude still placed a trap card on the field straight from his deck.... Is this a bug or am I missing something?
I always thought it was called foolish burial because they buried a guy who was still alive but he had to dig himself out. I’m just realizing it’s a guy who buried himself
Filling the GY is really powerful even in GOAT format where you have no Foolish Burial nor Painful Choice. Chaos Decks like to get their big monsters out for example by banishing LIGHT and DARK creatures. Zombies like to special summon. But GOAT compared to modern formats is more balanced with GY effects, as cards that mill are still powerful. Even if you could trigger Needle Worm on normal summon today, it would help your opponent more than hurt them. The graveyard isn't just a secondary resource. It is now your second hand. There are cards now that have effects in the GY or help other cards if they are in the GY, cards like Foolish are too powerful.
That Grass Looks Greener is one of the most broken cards I’ve ever seen. It’s at one in Master Duel and so the odds of the player drawing it out of a 60 card pool are low but goodness is it broken if it resolves 😂 But yeah this is pretty much why set rotation wouldn’t work in Yu-Gi-Oh! Sometimes cards don’t see much play when first released (see Maxx “C”) then become stronger and stronger over the years, some cards the opposite happens to (for instance, now many of the old boss monsters just can’t stand up on their own cause they don’t at least have targeting protection). I use Foolish a lot in a rogue insect deck I play (Send Gokipole to grave, add level 4 normal insect to hand, special summon, non target pop opponent’s monster). I wish there were more modern Spell/Trap Cards or even effect monsters that just had simple effects more relevant to the current meta so every archetype didn’t just have its own Foolish Burial to varying degrees.
If you were to directly compare effects that searching is more powerful, or directly summoning from deck. If RotA said, "Send 1 Level 4 or lower Warrior-type monster from your deck to the GY" it would be significantly weaker than how it is, regardless of the format. If RotA said, "Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Warrior-type monster from your deck" it would be way stronger. There are decks that don't care about dumping cards to the GY but zero decks that even so much as function without a form of search power.
It is true that "add a card" is generally stronger than "dump a card" but because this is the case, we generally do not get cards that take that to a crazy level. There is no "add 20 cards from your deck to your hand". There is no "add 5 cards from your deck to your hand" (for very obvious reasons hha). So while in a vacuum those types of effects would be better, they don't tend to actually show themselves as problematic quite as often.
What you're looking for is "You can only use this effect of XX once per turn." Your text can still be used multiple times a turn (e.g. Purple-Poison Magician, Mirrorjade Dragon). Otherwise I highly recommend putting Electrumite back to 3 haha
Soft once per turn: You can only use this effect once per turn Hard once per turn: You can only use this effect of “insert name of monster here” once per turn I think that’s the right way to explain it. Lack of once per turn will get a lot of cards banned if there’s any way to create a loop aha.
