I've had female pets all my life and I got my first male malinois 5 years ago. Most of my pets haven't been as playful or attention driven as him. The only one that was more play and attention driven was my old springer spaniel with her tennis balls and fetching. He's taken up the guard dog role of our space and has done a great job at that as well.
Interesting though that both Conan and Cairo, the two Navy Seal dogs used on the raids to kill Baghdadi and Bin Laden, were both males. And if you want one as a personal protection dog like I have, you get a male. My guy is big for a malinois ( 90lbs ) and believe me, you don't want him chasing you, hitting you or biting you.
There is a guy that I bump into on walks, originally he had a female Malinois who would play chase with my Miniature poodle,my poodle wasn't fearful of her,I suspect my poodle was trying to top dog her,the guy has now got a male,my dog met them both,but now the dynamic has changed,they give each other confidence,it seems like they have formed an allegiance,he has given her confidence,although when he was a Puppy,he looked to her for guidance,now they are barking at every dog,and the male wants to get my poodle,is that because he feels he is protecting the female?
@carmencita.k yes, pack mentality takea over for sure. It important for owners to keep socializing their dogs with other dogs during the growing stages. The more they seclude their family the harder time it will be for a new dog to come around and hang out
We haven’t mentioned if you are a female or male and owner which dog is more suited to you. I believe sometimes there is a clash of hormones with female dogs and female owners. What does everyone think?

@selfdefensept lol, i know your right. Flash is 95 lbs and hit me goinh up a hill because he was chasing Rosie. It was hard lol

I own both male and female. But of course I am a male, lol.
Males females are harder to train.
