Ms.Southern, was a tenacious, persevering actress who had a quite successful career in films, television.I thought she was a very, very good actress and I enjoyed her in those areas of entertainment. Thank you,for sharing this on TH-cam.
Of all the actresses I've seen starring as Rose in GYPSY, Sothern was by far the best. Her "Roses Turn" had the audience standing and cheering midway through the song. She was phenomenal.
She was what she was. As a little kid watching the old time movies I strongly favored her, because the characters she portraid reminded me of my Grandma Mae. Grandma Mae took out a sock one day to show me how a well dressed lady went about in the 1920s . First out of the sock, a pair of brass knuckles, next a straight razor, and lastly, as .32 Smith&Wesson. Back then, no ment NO. Ann Southern seemed to show that same kind of inter strength and humor. She was my favorite of the Bombshells
Get rid of the stark machine gun style of the narrator! Tell him to take a breath once in a while. His delivery is tedious. Support the video with some QUIET background music to soften the jackhammer voiceover!
In his autobiography James Cagney stated when he was in a play with her she wore a black dress. The way the lights shines on her backside. "She had the greatest walk away he ever had seen".
Blah, blah, blah and little content. How can you NOT mention her best friend Lucille Ball. Ball and husband Desi Arnaz pulled off a miracle: an American actress and a Cuban-born band leader owning and operating Desilu Studios. At one of the studio's entrances, Southern and Ball in a picture are together in a golf cart touring what the husband and wife created with absolute joy and wonderment in their eyes.
I remember watching the Ann Southern show on TV during the golden 50's early 60's era. Great memories.....
One of the most overlooked and underutilized actors ever. She was an immensely talented actress and singer.
Indeed!

I only saw her in the Ann Sothern Show. I watched it regularly. At the end of each show shebwould say, Stay happy. I loved that.

I haven't forgotten the luminary Ann Sothern, and I just loved her in her TV shows in the 1950s!

She deserved better than the B Maisie series!
Lucille Ball loved Ann Sothern, as good a friend as you could have in Hollywood.
At least she passed 6 months before the infamy of 911.
So she was never put through that national trauma of late 2001.
Ann Sothern dad born 1931 he is old man I believe her
