Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Alien vs. Predator follows billionaire Charles Bishop Weyland (Lance Henriksen) and his team of drillers, scientists, and archaeologists, to an obscure pyramid site in Antarctica. Among the icy ruins, allegedly, lies the proof of an empire predating humankind. Once there, however, the group finds more than ancient sarcophaguses and hieroglyphics; rather, their discovery consists of dismembered human skeletons and fossilized remains of the alien creatures that appear to have violently burst out of their chests. Even more horrifying is the evidence suggesting that the aliens may still exist. Indeed, there are aliens below the pyramids, but an equal threat looms above: three Predators, all on the verge of manhood, are engaged in a gruesome rite of passage -- every hundred years, young Predators must travel to Earth and take on a hunting ritual in order to complete the transition to adulthood or die in the process. Before long, the humans find themselves battling for their own lives as the Predators and aliens continue their fight for superiority. Overuse of slow motion was one of the most annoying things about movies from this era.
But the facehugger leap is absolutely perfect.

It leaps at lightning speed. They just slowed it down for the movie. As for the eggs opening, they didn't know what to expect. It was all surprise

Also if on is absolutely honest being from a scientific "background " one doesn't know with absolute certainty that if you shoot at the pods "biologicals" won't be released into the air effectively killing everyone. Looking at those pods in the opening scene the first few seconds you'd think mushrooms pods. Don't shoot, possible poison.
Then it's moving...your scientific brain is going into override. You take out your gun. Ask what the chamber is called. See spider legs thinking crawling creatures, you've got time to shoot them. Problem is like any good shooter your aware of what is on the other side of the target. As the face hugger flies through the air sure you can hit it. But what if I miss and hit a team member? THEY were all in a circle and she couldn't shoot. Training.

We’re in a time where something worse comes along in Hollywood. And we look back at these “mediocre films” and learn to appreciate them for actually TRYING. I personally always enjoyed AvP but now I appreciate it even more.
I know right, I really dislike stuff like AVP or for example Star Wars prequels, but compared to more modern stuff... Yeah, they at least feel like an attempt at a good movie

This movie really wasn't that bad...the sequel on the other hand....we won't go any further on that.
I agree. It was never going to win any oscars. But this isnt that kind of movie. It was very enjoyable for what it is.
I also enjoyed Predators and Alien Covenant.
But Requiem is a God awful terrible movie. As is The Predator. I could never get over that little boy blowing up a house and killing several people inside, then non-chalantly stunting on two bullies, who run away.
I love this movie too, but I do care about what people say. Like if someone called me a soggy noodle for liking this movie I’d probably drink battery acid.

Jason, Ikr and a drone killed 2 predators with ease (yes I know their young bloods) but a Queen had a hard time killing one and ended up dying while doing it.

A Predalien,Pretorian,Ravenger, and Queen can and their Xenomorphs and I think the Xenomorph is more durable in alien because they blew it out of the airlock and burned it with boosters and it still survived and in isolation you had bombs,grenades and guns against the Xenomorph but it still survived and they can survive explosions and electric shocks.

this film does not deserve nearly as much hate as it has got over the years. The premise is solid but agree the direction could have been tighter and the film darker.
